Clinton campaign didn't do tracking polls for the last month, ignored Michigan issues

Actually, the DNC wanted so-called "Pied Piper" candidates like Trump to be legitimized because they felt Hillary would have a better chance against them. Turns out that many voters thought she was worse. Kind of funny.

Yup. Anybody who bothered to read the Wikileaks releases would see that this was the Clinton campaign's plan, directly coordinated with the press. Hillary Clinton, for all intents and purposes, asked "the media" to give Trump his free coverage.

I thought Ross Perot also played a large part in taking votes away from bush as well.

I used to think this too, and someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that analysis showed that he pretty much took support more or less equally from each.

I think stuff without the -H next to it is by her staff, so that's basically the people in charge of her twitter congratulating her

Nope. Again, Wikileaks. Even the tweets with -H were run through committees for editing before being posted. She didn't tweet anything herself. That tweet was the result of deep campaign analysis, which makes it even worse.

What a terrible disservice to this country and the planet. She stood up there and said she's the only thing standing in the way of the apocalypse and this is the half assed effort they give!? Utter fucking hubris, I am so furious with them. Instead of trying to expand into Arizona, they should have concentrated on the actual base and clinch the states you should win so you get to 270. You can't sit there and gameplan to run up the score before the game begins.

What a terrible way for the world to learn this lesson. The mistakes they made can never be repeated. Now we just somehow have to ride this disaster out until the next democrat has to fix it.

Tulsi Gabbard 2020 please

Obviously not all HillGAF were astroturfers or anything but the amount of vitriol being spewed towards anyone questioning her was mindbogling even for a liberal forum.

I am sure lashing out against me will help.
In any case they are slowly coming back to PoliGAF, complaining about the "White left Tea Party". I am at a loss of words on that one.

They've just been beaten over the head with a massive sign that DNC politics as usual no longer works, yet their first impulse is still to punch left. Bless their little hearts.

This pissed me off more than anything. Effectively Hillary Clinton was a trump enabler. She and her supporters should own that they fucked up.

If you read her initial email dumps, it was clear that Hillary does not know how to tweet. She was sending emails asking how to use smiley faces.

Frankly mods should shut down poligaf for like a year.

1) some of the most vile bullying on this forum came out of there.
2) it's a complete fucking joke. It's almost embarrassing to know it exists.

They're already holding the biggest L I've seen on this forum since Denis Dyack. Let them have their echo chamber.

I'd been mentioning among friends that Trumps populist rhetoric might find some strength in the rustbelt... but I honestly didn't think it'd work in this election. But given the numbers... he didn't exactly do as good as Romney in the rustbelt. Clinton just under-performed to an insane degree.
ha? on wiki looking at PA, Michigan etc he is doing better than Romney in all of them

Not as long as Y2Kev is mod. Part of why PoliGAF felt enabled to do what they did was because at least two mods were actively kicking with them, while the others tried to keep away and subsequently leading to Clinton supporters getting the benefit of a doubt while dissidents where kicked out at the next opportunity.

In not so sure about this.

I was one of the only few Bernie supporters left during and after the Primary that still persisted in threads. Y2Kev would engage me in discussion, but I've never been banned for my posts. I try and stay reasonable in my posts so maybe that's why, but I do agree that there was a opinion maelstrom that was deliberate.

The biggest trend that I hate is the elitism in the Democratic party. Someone that is new to politics and trying to figure everything out is treated in such a condescending and demeaning way. The tone this time around was "We are far more knowledgeable than you, so shut up and follow what I say." That's the whole vibe I got from the Clinton campaign and her "deplorables" comment only made things worse.

Oh no, the mdos weren't actively looking out to ban Bernie supporters, they were however going easy on Hillary supporters. There were a few banned that went completely out of line, but they got away with a lot more. Look at how long Amir0x made it. Plus, they ignored the constant baiting.

A part of me feels that this complacency was a sign of some Clinton weakness here. A little too smug. Not ruthless enough. Assumed success and didn't guarantee or make it happen. I still wish she won, but I'm not a huge fan of some of these stories

I was this way in High School. When I made it to college and talked with my new Democratic peers, I realized the error of my ways back then (in a 95% conservative environment).

Those Hillgaf posters should be the most mad, not at anyone else, but at their own candidate and her campaign that couldn't seal the deal. She was up 3-1 in a 7 game series and lost.

I usually think Y2Kev posts reasonable things, but I guess that doesn't mean he uses modbot in a fair and consistent way.

Frankly, modbot is potentially a tool for bullying when a mod gets too invested in being part of on of the GAF "clans".

Like, "I can ban you anonymously but not have to stand behind it or answer for it in anyway." Theres good and bad behind it, because at the same time it protects mods from abuse and whining.

GAF hive mind has a weird political philosophy. I think if I had to sum it up, it's sort of "militantly SJW", more so than any other forum I browse. I don't post at thecoli, because I'm a cac, but I like reading it. And it's strange that a forum that is like 70% POC and actively accuses people of being white Republican agents in like every other thread, has a more balanced discussion of social issues than GAF.

GAF is a place where people discuss with a straight face whether choosing your own pronouns should be extended to Otherkin. Theres nothing wrong with that discussion... But it's like the most fringe topic imaginable.

Well, alright. Maybe I have him in bad memory from all the shit discussions that happened. I just remember two mods with Clinton avatars who were clearly going in with the PoliGAF. I thought Y2Kev, because he often has the same avatar as bansho.

I really wish now that I've bookmarked all the awful posts I've come across.

I normally don't believe in Astroturf conspiracy statements like this, but considering that apparently during the Xbox One reveal a lot of junior accounts here defending MS traced back to Microsoft headquarters, and considering that some of the most ardent Hillary supporters (and I WAS one of them, never once supported Bernie) are MIA right now.

I don't know. I just don't know.

First, drop the conspiracy nonsense.

Second, if you want to talk about moderation, PM a mod. That is your option.

These are your warnings. The rest of the discussion is a-okay.

I'm mad at myself for even slightly considering that Hillary and her team of losers had learned anything from their loss in 2008. They were the same arrogant and entitled assholes they always were. Everyone even tangentially-related to her campaign's leadership need to be excised from the DNC. They really thought they could get some of Obama's data people and just coast to victory.

I live and work in Michigan politics. As a whole, I would wait until there is real data to review. A circular firing squad and blame game is unproductive. I will say this, anyone dumb enough to break down what happened in a few sentences is full of shit. And anyone selling a solution is full of shit.

We were all chomping at the bit for the next HBO movie detailing the failures of the 2016 election.

We just never thought it was going to be about the Democrats. Amazing how one day can change the outlook on an entire political party... A few months ago, it was 'how is the republican party going to cannibalize itself' and now it's 'How will the Dems recover'?

In the end, diminished enthusiasm kept democrats home. Who knows why.

That is a load of absolute horse crap, and you should be ashamed of it.

People whose posting history goes back years were correct the record shills? Ffs get a grip.

A lot of supporters have gone, either temporarily or permantly, for a variety of reasons. One of the big ones being a need to protect themselves from exactly this type of shameful garbage going on here. Those vanished posters are still talking to people and tryouts no to figure out what to do, just not in this sort of toxic environment.
Is this post some sort of sick joke? You want to talk about a "toxic environment", look no further than neogaf the past several months for anyone who was a supporter of Bernie Sanders and critical in any way of Hillary Clinton. This was a fucking horrible place to have any kind of balanced discussion regarding Hillary Clinton or show support for Bernie Sanders, particularly after the primaries.

Both awesome reads, thank you.

Idk about the conspiracy stuff but your complaint about "shameful garbage" and "toxic environment" goes well beyond irony, or was it a satirical post? There's no way you think it was any better a month or 4 ago. Not better for you, but better.
