I'll watch him fight Big Bono

Punk is gonna walk away from Dana and go right back to WWE after this. He'll cut a promo about how "UNCLE DANA DIDN'T RESPECT ME ENOUGH TO PAY ME WHAT I'M WORTH, WHICH IS WHY I'M BACK HERE IN THE WWE WHERE I GET REAL RESPECT" or something similar.

Book it.

There is absolutely 0 chance this will happen.

Hopefully Lesnar decides to come back as well. Then the invasion angle can be complete. But who is third man?

I would have Punk headline a prelims fight card before one of the bigger events. That way Fox Sports 1 gets a huge ratings bump and if Punk leaves a turd in the Octagon people won't be pissed they paid $60 for a hot mess.

I just randomly decided to do a Ctrl+F for "Lashley" in this thread.

Man, he gets no love. The ironic thing being that he's seemed to have "evolved" as a fighter as well (well, he dropped his comic-book muscles and got on a treadmill.) He's still a mediocre heavyweight, but he's build a decent career for himself. Like Brock he was a college wrestler though.

Yeah. Following up on my last comment, this is awesome but does have negative side effects. Namely, that wrestling fans invade UFC. I was only just getting over all the prior people insisting that Brock could break Fedor in his prime.

This isn't a work. Punk is done with WWE and as has been said when he initially left, he doesn't live large and is fine on money. Plus it's not like his wife isn't bringing any cash in.

This seems to genuinely be a guy who always wanted to try something, using his little remaining fame/popularity to get him that opportunity.

Good for him and I hope it works out. I don't think it will, but good for him for giving it a shot. More than most will ever do.

UFC is literally pro wrestling. It is full on sports entertainment. Bellator understands and isn't ashamed of it. The cross over is huge, much more than either side would like you to believe for whatever reason, and many of the wrestling fans on the board ARE well educated about MMA.

There is a huge difference between wrestling fans thinking Brock Lesnar (once in a generation freak athlete with extensive high school and college wrestling back ground, monsterous human) could beat someone like Fedor and wrestling fans thinking CM Punk (mid 30s, not at all a natural athlete, no combat experience, amateur BBJ practitioner) can beat anyone in UFC. Which is to say, no one thinks Punk is going to beat anyone because he's not an athlete and has no back ground besides taking BBJ classes on his off days. He also has issues cutting weight and already has a banged up body. I don't think anyone is going to show up to the MMA thread to hype Punk as a legit threat to anyone except to troll people like you.

So is the UFC going to find the Brooklyn Brawler for what ever weight division he is in for his first fight so he can get a win?

lol

This is a joke. Great for Danas bank account, terrible for MMA as a whole. At least Brock was an actual wrestling champion. Punk gonna curl up in a ball and cry the second he take his first real punch

haven't you heard? He's been taking Zumba classes 3 times a week. Dude is ready.

The more I think about this potential green ranger vs cm punk fight the more it makes sense.

War Green Ranger.

No, he didn't. He still had 8 MMA fights after the Crocop one and actually left MMA with a positive record. Not saying he was great or anything but give the guy his due.

Not sure how legit his fights in Mexico were against professional losers, and he still lost one of those. Lot of those cats had one or two career fights including their fight against Alberto.

No he didn't. It was a response to an email from some guy who did his own weird calculation of what Punk may have earned at his time with WWE, so Punk took his figure and said if you can't live with that amount, you should be beat up.

/shrug

I his calculations are based off of averages within the WWE and he game to 20 million, he could be off by a factor of 10 and Punk would still be fine.

I found the wizard world offering 20k for 4 hours, getting paid 5k for a week in Mexico weird compared with the reports of a 1.7-2 million dollar salary. He should average 35k-41k a week?

That's like 86% of his pay being from Raw, Smackdown, merch, and ppv's. Then getting peanuts busting his ass the majority of the year.

you guys are shady. he will probably get his ass beat but i stand behind cm punk and i dont even watch wrestling. i hope he does good

In the first podcast with Colt around the 1h25m mark, Punk says he found a royalty cheque he forgot to cash and Colt breaks in comparing it to a story about Harley Race finding old uncashed 10k cheques and Punk promptly says this cheque was for "exponentially more."

I don't know Punk's worth, but the anecdote tells me that he can afford to forget about a cheque for "exponentially more than 10k" around the house and not feel it.

This is funnier.
