When it focuses on the adults it's a fun 7 or 8/10 show. But as almost every TV show, movie or book, as soon as it starts focusing on the teens the quality drops down a cliff.

I think he is fine as family dad type character.
But yeah, when he starts doing martial arts and specially fighting it's a bit silly.

But I wouldn't mind seeing more of him if it meant less teen drama.

I always thought Ralph's karate was at best mediocre in terms of that weird stance, or posture. Then again, I think that was part of the charm for the character in original Karate Kid, because he really was supposed to be a novice learner.

However in Cobra Kai, him being in the seat of the "master", it's little bit silly - but I think my soft-spot for the original movie just made me think otherwise and let it go as some sort of Miyagi magic.

Looking forward the Terry Silver. I didn't enjoy KK2 nor KK3 as much as the original - but so far Cobra Kai has been quite excellent - would love to see the Brad Barns and quite possibly Julie too.
(I did re-watch the Next Karate Kid a few months back, but came out pretty disappointed though.)

Cheesy is the word you're looking for. The fans have been comparing the main teen characters to Power Rangers for a good reason, because the show perfectly matches the cheesy yet serious feeling of the rangers.

Cheesy is the word you're looking for. The fans have been comparing the main teen characters to Power Rangers for a good reason, because the show perfectly matches the cheesy yet serious feeling of the rangers.

oh no, cringy and corny. just straight up bad at times too. cheesy is way too nice of a word. id only use cheesy if it was redeemable in anyway. but the show takes itself waaaay too seriously at times.

im in it for johnnys story pretty much. its the only really interesting, well written and well acted part of the show. the rest of it is just barely tolerable.

Pretty sad how it takes them years to shoot about 40 minutes of footage a season that gets padded out with flashbacks from prior seasons and even more flashbacks from every movie since every little thing needs to be explained to today's audience.
