Is this like an energy drink essentially? Its been so long I forget.

In my mind it has always been more of a soda/soft drink with a lot of sugar/caffeine than an energy drink, but I probably didn't know what an energy drink was in 1997.

The larger can makes me think they are looking at making it an energy drink now so they can charge more for it, which is lame but at least we get to drink it again.

Serious Sam is a wicked gahbidge series for chowdaheads.
Surge existed in a product category that was a precursor to the modern energy drink: sodas with higher-than-normal caffeine content marketed towards young people.
Red Bull obviously existed before it, but It's after this drink that energy drinks became a thing that every company had to have an entry in.
Never knew surge had this rumour as well, this is the only one I've heard about during that time.

Yep, I survived on Josta through high school. That fruity guarana kick was amazing.
If only Josta fans were as organized and resourceful as Surge fans. Could get some billboards on display, an active community...
There are two things I remember about Godzilla (1998): Ferris Bueller, and Josta advertising on the big screen.

Vanilla Coke still exists. It's just uncommon. Not sure about Slice, but Dr. Slice was fuckin' amazing and better than Dr. Pepper IMO.

It was basically an energy drink before but I agree I think they will roll it out as an energy drink if it does well enough.
Naw caffeine and sugar count were a bit different than Mountain Dew. It will be interesting to see if I still like this.

I'll wait till I can buy it in a store @ normal price. $14 a pack isn't worth it to me. I'm a diet soda guy now anyhow.

I had a Mountain Dew for the first time the other day. I'm not trusting you Americans anymore when it comes to softdrinks. I don't think they ever sold Surge in Germany, at least I can't remember it. Dat Crystal Pepsi tho (was disgusting as well, but I'd buy it for nostalgic purposes).
If I want a yellow citrus soda I drink Sundrop, as I find MelloYello/Mountain Dew to be nasty. Now that Surge is back I will have a second choice.

Did this sell out faster than iPhone 6? This is a trend I can get behind, not that I drink anything but water. But still, for people who dug this? Hell yeah. I did once!
When I was in Jr High, one day after school a huge Surge truck showed up giving everyone free bottles and there were also Playstation demos set up inside the truck. It was pretty awesome and something you probably wouldn't see happen at a school these days.
I'm going to buy some of this to mix with vodka when it becomes available again.
