@Phife,
Nice try, but to me, the COD4 shots look a hell of a lot better than those QW shots.
Hopefully the PC version will have good performance, IQ is a given over the 360 version, but the 60fps is appealing.
Everyone should just read my quote. I said that QW has better textures and is on par in regards to complexity of models etc. I didn't say it looks better overall, that's debatable. CoD4 seems to have better lightning. Wether you want messy textures with great lightning or a clean look with great textures and maybe not as much post processing effects is up to personal preference.
I gave QW as an example because it's getting shunned for it's gfx, it's multiplayer only with up to 32 people and it's based on a spruced up Doom 3 engine, which is ancient times. CoD4 should be able to best it in any regards, big time. This is not happening - by far.
And the shots don't look a lot better.
1st pic: Pretty much a mess, not much to be seen though because of the lightning strike
2nd pic: Character models are OK (pretty much QW) but what's with the lack of dynamic shadows? There's light reflecting everywhere but the corpses don't drop the hint of a shadow (yes QW has a dynamic shadow system) shadows for other models can't be seen from this perspective
3rd pic: Shadowmaps look pretty cool on the guy but the foliage is exactly like QWs and the woods look downright ugly
4th pic: Models are on par with QW
5th pic: Not much to be seen due to shockwave (QW has those kind of effects as well) but the hand looks pretty laughable with those textures
6th pic: Weapon model looks underwhelming, ground textures seem lacking as well but not much to be seen because of the oversaturated look
7th pic: Best pic of the bunch, the lightning looks believable and textures don't look like a total mess
Like I said, the game looks good but it sure doesn't deserve the "Best GFX" crown.
