PS5/PC crossbuy

I don't think a single Play Anywhere article headline calls it pro consumer.

Oh how the narrative changes. Just shows you how full of crap people are.

Windows Central doesn't call it pro-consumer every time a game is Play Anywhere, but maybe they said it about the feature itself a decade ago. I suspect it'll be the same here.

I could see crossbuy making sense for Playstation GAAS games. It would shock me if they did it with their single player games

It's not the same lol. When PS does it, it will be broadly accepted as the great feature it is. Just how it goes. Not the first time it happens.

We won't see articles about how confusing their strategy is, or how odd it is for consumers to try and navigate the maze of playing a game anywhere. You'll see nothing but people 100% understanding it, and saying it's cool.

I mean, I like play anywhere and haven't noticed this. Just that it's underbaked because the selection is unreliable.

I can't help but feel like there's some overlap going on with the rest of their strategy, which IS confusing. For example the Ally plays your Xbox games...at least those that happened to be Play Anywhere. It's a part of the confusing clusterfuck, since the library of supported games is spotty yet the feature is being used as a crutch to market an "Xbox".

I do find it harder and harder to choose to buy the console version of a game that's also on pc. Devs outside of a few just don't care about making polished experiences anymore. On pc I at least have the option to choose image quality and frame rate over a blurry colorless mess at an unstable frame rate.

It's just how it is. It's not up to them to do that for every 3rd party game. Sony since back on the Vita has some games Cross-Buy, some games aren't. Some games are BC, some games aren't. Just watch how quickly everyone suddenly gets it. 🤷‍♂️ I just try to stay consistent. PA is cool and a great feature, and this would be too. Simple.
