So what are our options for what Sony could consider as GaaS? I can think of these options from what has been announced, rumored and existing IPs Sony owns:

1. Socom (RUMOR) - Tatical TPS
2. Killzone (Wishful Thinking) - Arcade FPS
3. Resistance (Wishful Thinking) - Coop FPS
4. Motorstorm (RUMOR) - Arcade Racer
5. Twisted Metal (RUMOR) - Car Combat
6. GT7 - Racing Simulator
7. The Last of Us Factions 2 (RUMOR) - Could be like a Day-Z equivalent? or a more competitive focused game?
8. Deviation Project - A more traditional casual/competitive multiplayer game with a single player campaign
9. Firewalk Project
10. Haven Project
11. London Studio Project
12. New Bungie Project

I have zero interest, or even negative interest, in Socom an Resistance.

I'd be super happy to see Motorstorm back, and even more Wipeout.
 
SOCOM PS3 was my 1st and loved it. Problem is like with almost every Sony 1st party MP of that era the community was dead.
 
I really hope this is true. I'll never forget hooking up the PS2 modem adapter to dialup and putting it on the living room 55 inch CRT and having a blast. Well, until my brothers or mom picked up the landline and cut me off. Those were the days.

Wish I still had that CRT, truly a thing of beauty.

These games are supposed to be released "until 2026". Bungie plans to release "at least" one before 2025. So I'd include 2 Bungie new IPs, and who knows if lucky even a 3rd.

Firesprite has a huge chunk of the former Evolution Studios, Sony Liverpool and Bizarre Creations staff so if Motorstorm exist it would make sense to make it there.

Lucid was rumored to be working on Twisted Metal reboot, and later it was rumored that Twisted Metal was moved to Firesprite. The director of Motorstorm Apocalypse, who also was product manager of the first Motorstorm, moved from Lucid to Firesprite. He was rumored to be working on that Twisted Metal reboot.

Guerrilla is working on a multitplayer game with guilds/clans that seems it's the one being directed by the director of Rainbow Six Siege. So maybe itt's a Socom or Killzone.

Thought we've been knowing this. Socom 1-2 were some of the best online days you were either playing this or Halo.

SOCOM was great, particularly the first two. However, after SOCOM 4, I have no faith in Sony to release anything good.
 
I mean, it would make sense for SOCOM to come back since they'll eventually lose Call of Casual. (Keep dreaming if you think it'll stay on PS pass '24) In one of those Sony meltdown threads after the Act/Blizz acquisition, I said it would be prudent for Sony to bring back SOCOM. With all the battle royal craze, I feel Sony also missed an opportunity with a M.A.G 2. But that's why they make all the monies... they know better than I.
 
Great but in what capacity will it be coming back? In recent years, these military shooters have changed massively. If it's anything like Siege then I'm not interested. Take it back to its roots.

Thats what im thinking, and at the same time binning off Killzone ? I know its not mentioned but saying "resistance and motorstorm are the only ip from that era we will ever see again" says to me theres no hope, unless he dosnt count that as theres a KZ on PS4.

Fuck knows but im like a crack head wanting these old macho shooters back Killzone and Resistance get the old games resolution boosted and 60fps and anounce reboots, and Socom a reboot will do, dont even need a single player.
 
I want it back, as long it keeps angling for the more methodical approach, going for tension over the brainless shit other military shooters go for.

Otherwise stay home Socom, it's ok.

I guess covid as the rumor mill had really kicked into high gear last summer that the SOCOM announcement was imminent

As of latest pure rumor people say it might get revealed with the bigger State of Play that has a late March time frame

But in all honesty I have been super busy lately and have not gamed with certain people who would know these things as with the MLB lockout have been doing a lot of radio and local TV stuff
 
Why does it feel so much gets lost in translation between listening to CM's show and then reading it as breaking news on GAF?

The man doesn't have inside info, he's speculating. Granted it makes sense now more than ever since Sony should be wanting to lean away from COD, and it's not like DICE is good for anything.
