I feel for Wisconsin and Auburn. Both should have been in over Notre Dame. It says a lot about the state of the Big 10 and the SEC, and also says quite about the state of other 4 big conferences.

So I guess a pretty good West Virginia team is just chopped liver compared to that tremendous Auburn team.

It's weird. If you told me at the start of the year we'd be in the Rose Bowl I'd say we had a good season. Naturally I'm disappointed we lost, I think more so that we lost to the damn bRuins than the fact that it ruined out MNC hopes.

I wonder how USC fans will turn out for the Rosebowl. Two straight years, third in the last 4, second against Michigan. Could be either really good or really bad. My roommate said he doesn't want to go because he hates the stadium and the parking situation or something.

As for the rest, I want the Pac 10 to run the table. I want BSU to finish undefeated. I want the SEC to lose all their bowls except against ND who I want to see blown out.

That's all I ask, if it's not too much.

I would put Rutgers in before any of them.

Edit: Dude I can time travel too?

Yes, considering Auburn beat LSU and Florida. Those are two high quality wins. WVU's biggest win was Rutgers, and the Big East is still a mess since the defection.

EDIT: What is going on with the ordering of this thread?

****!

God, it was just leaked that Cincy is announcing CMU's coach, Brian Kelly, as their head coach tomorrow at 4pm.

Man, I'm glad he got us out of the cellar but I'm pissed that he didn't wait til after our bowl game to announce his departure, ESPECIALLY since Cincy already has a coach in place. Now, as it is, I hope to God our AD doesn't let Kelly coach the bowl game. Cincy's AD has already released a statement confirming it, too.

**** mid-majors

Auburn has had an up and down year, but they still beat the two best teams in the SEC (Florida and LSU). Based on the current BCS standings, NO TEAM has two more impressive victories. They are definitely a better team than Notre Dame.

I didn't see the OP calling out WVU.

It was an implicit calling out, unless he just forgot about them.

Not denying Auburn has impressive wins, and does deserve it over ND. However, I see no reason why West Virginia doesn't have just as strong a case as Auburn. I mean, they might not have wins as impressive as Auburn, but they didn't get routed by a team like Georgia routed Auburn.

That's crap. At least it gives you more time to search for a replacement.

It's funny, I'd become convinced that the Stanford coach (Walt Harris) would be the next Cincy coach. Well, we'll see where he ends up.

Any bets on whether Schiano sticks around at Rutgers? I'm actually going to say yes, for the same reason that Tedford stuck around at Cal despite the huge offers. Rutgers has been down for a long time, but being in a BCS conference makes all the difference. They were on the verge of a BCS bowl this year (hell, there was even talk of the title game) which would be almost unthinkable at a non-BCS school that hadn't been at least somewhat prominent already. Building a powerhouse program at Rutgers is within the realm of possibility. I think he may well stick around and try to see it through.

Sorry myke. :(
I can't blame Kelly for taking the job. I'm just pissed that for the past week, after Iowa State hired Chizik over Kelly, Kelly swore up and down that he wanted nothing to do with leaving CMU. Then he jumps on the first ticket out of town. I really hope he doesn't coach the bowl game.

Personally, I think a GREAT candidate for CMU would be John L Smith. We have to remember that he practically built the current Louisville team. Everything that team does now was started by John L Smith, so it's not like he can't handle a smaller program. Plus being an hour north of Lansing will get him out of the limelight and stress that comes with being U of M's bitch. We already run a spread offense with a QB that's a lot like Drew Stanton.

I dunno. Maybe I'm on crack :lol

Oh, and I think Rutgers will keep Schiano. I think he's got that program now to a point where if he can go undefeated he has a case for a National Championship appearance.

Yeah, I'm thinking Schiano stays too. Queen's College seems to be giving him what he wants and while a job like Tha' U is a king maker he has the potential to become a college football legend in Jersey. How many people get the opportunity to establish a winning tradition at a university? Not too many in this day and age.

Wow. Supposedly there's talk about Jim Tressel being banned from voting in the Coaches Poll ever again because he refused to vote this week.

Those assholes should be happy that he didn't vote. The guy clearly realized he couldn't honestly vote and decided to step out. Instead of respecting what the guy did as being commendable they want to punish him? That's bullshit.

I guess USA Today is really pissed though.

Just giving you some of your own medicine threeball

Jesus, one of the classiest things to come out of this weekend and they want to punish him for it? **** them.

BTW, Ron Zook was the only Big 10 coach to vote Florida #2.

That is by far the best thing Ron Zook has ever done for this team.

that could be a sweet game. Kentucky actually has a solid QB in Andre Wood and they're capable of putting up points in big bunches. Dont sleep on Kentucky-- it ain't yo daddys kentucky :lol

Ron Burgundy didn't show up for Conquest. This is why we lost, I'm sure of it.

I think it was because your false idol quarterback couldn't accomplish basic feats like not falling down before getting the ball out of his hands or not throwing tippable passes.

There will probably be some contract with a local tv station to carry the game.

Edit: Whitemyke - Schnellie also put RU at 10 :).

There is absolutley no way Notre Dame deserves a BCS bid. No. Way.

All I have to say is that Charlie Weiss will have to use bleach to get the dirt stains off his knees. Wisconsin was robbed. And the fact Notre Dame got an at-large bid with 2 losses over teams with better rankings, including Auburn who beat (albeit somewhat controversially) Florida, is absolutely unforgiveable. The BCS is a "Big Crock O' Shit".

here's mine...

01. 12-0 Ohio State
02. 12-1 Florida
03. 11-1 Michigan
04. 11-1 Louisville
05. 11-1 Wisconsin
06. 12-0 Boise State
07. 11-2 Oklahoma
08. 10-2 LSU
09. 10-2 Wake Forest
10. 10-2 West Virginia
11. 10-2 Rutgers
12. 10-3 Arkansas
13. 10-2 Auburn
14. 10-2 Virginia Tech
15. 10-2 USC
16. 10-2 Notre Dame
17. 09-3 Tennessee
18. 09-3 California
19. 09-3 Texas A&M
20. 10-2 BYU
21. 09-3 Texas
22. 09-4 Nebraska
23. 09-4 Georgia Tech
24. 09-3 Boston College
25. 10-2 TCU

Some explanations: I think OU should be the highest 2 loss team, considering, you know, we could be considered just a 1 loss team. ;) I have them ahead of LSU b/c of that and b/c OU is the big 12 champ. I think Michigan is better than Florida, but i have been swayed by the arguments that you should be a champion of your league and that they already had their chance; so Florida it is for me #2.

...and when in doubt, I put the champions of their league ahead of other similar rated teams. USC has 2 bad losses, it's time for everyone to realize they are nowhere near where they are rated; which is why i have them down @ 15. Lastly, I dropped TCU in there for threeball, just trying to throw him some rainbows and puppy dogs. ;)

Wisconsin would barely be in my top 10. I saw them play Bowling Green (live) and Michigan (on TV). Very one dimensional team, with a suspect defense and great special teams (just based on those two games).

If Wisconsin played in the SEC, they would be a .500 team.

I'd do the same thing Joe Tiller did... fill in the top 5 and then just put in joke teams for the rest. "Oh well uhh... apparently, um, Hawaii looked good on Saturday night. They're easily 9." etc etc etc.

Our defense is pretty terrible but we do have an explosive offense. Woodson has really matured into a top tier QB and we have a number of talented RBs and receivers. Our defense has to contain Clemson's running attack or else we are going to be in for a long day.

Thankfully I'll be in the stands cheering for UK to win their first bowl game in what seems like ages.

better get up for that game, Okie St has one hell of an offense. for real. one of the best rec's in the nation too.

btw... who's coaching that for you?

Phil ranked us at #13 and Cal at #20.

And ND at #7. Jesus Phil WTF, looking out for the other fat coaches I guess

Well good luck to the Gators.

And please please please LSU destroy Notre Dame.

I guess I'll just have to be happy playing in a crappy consolation bowl.

CFN Ranking the bowls:

http://cfn.scout.com/2/597354.html

1. Rose Bowl presented by Citi Michigan vs. USC January 1, 2007, ABC
The BCS Championship game is bigger, but this is the one you really want to watch. It's a matchup of the 2007 preseason No. 1 vs. preseason No. 2. Which one's which? Not sure yet, but this could be a showdown of the 2008 BCS Championship game between two teams with something to prove. Michigan, with an impressive performance, wants to prove once and for all that it's the definitive number two team in the nation, while USC wants to put the UCLA debacle in the past and show that things really haven't changed all that much from the national title seasons.
Stars of the show: 1) Mike Hart, RB Michigan, 2) Dwayne Jarrett, WR USC, 3) Mario Manningham, WR Michigan
The knee jerk, off-the-cuff, initial prediction: Michigan 24 ... USC 20

The Rose Bowl is overrated and it always has been. All it ever did was keep more Big Ten or Pac 10 schools from winning national titles and these days its nothing more than a glorified version of the Capital One bowl.

Cyan said:
I... I guess so. Damn it.

Seriously though, I pretty much agree with your rankings, with a few changes in the middle of the pack:

1)Ohio St.
2)Florida
3)Michigan
4)LSU
5)Louisville
6)Oklahoma +1
7)Boise St +1
8)Wisconsin -2
9)USC +1
10)Arkansas +1
11)West Virginia +1
12)Auburn -3
13)Wake Forest +1
14)Virginia Tech -1
15)Rutgers
16)Tennessee
17)Texas
18)California
19)BYU
20)Notre Dame
21)Texas A&M
22)Oregon St
23)Nebraska
24)Boston College
25)
TCU
(don't tell Threeballz)

I don't think Georgia belongs in the top 25 by any stretch of the imagination, but that's your only pick that I really disagree with.

I felt that Auburn beating both Florida and LSU was enough for me to put them in the top 10 even if I don't think they are a top 15 team. I will take the Wisconsin ranking since they really haven't played anyone except Michigan (which they lost). Wake lost to VT which is why I have them in front of them.

:lol I didn't put TCU in because a weak small private school that plays in a non BCS confrence isn't worthy of being with the big boys. Boise St gets a pass because they are undefeated and BYU won a title once so they are somewhere in the middle.

I picked Georgia instead of TCU just to piss off threeballz they should be in

I wasn't making fun of Okie State.

Coach Kines (Defensive Coordinator, Assistant Head Coach) will coach the game. Dave Rader (Offensive Coordinator) will call the offensive plays.

Oh and if Lloyd Carr wants to be a top 5 team next year he better work his voodoo and talk Jake Long and Alan Branch into coming back next year.

Wow, holy shit. How did I not notice Cal are co-Pac-10 champions? Cyan had to have mentioned that, along with his undying hatred of the Stoops boy and the Mildcats. Well, at least the 30 years in the desert are finally over! I smell an end to the reign of the Evil Empire too.
