College Football 2017 Offseason: We're Not a Football School Anyway

Eh. I like his chances. History indicates he's likely to improve dramatically. If he makes a fraction of the jump Lamar did (someone else he outperformed when comparing their true freshman seasons), he'll be fine. FSU will be a good first test for him passing wise; I think he still finds success running, even with Derwin James spying him.

Kinda unfair given one faced far better competition than the other did lol

It's going to be an interesting thing to see how Bama changes their offense this year. Saban told Dennis Dodd the other day that they want to integrate more of a pro style passing attack. That's not exactly Hurt's game, but if they can get him to learn how to take snaps under center and run more play action while still using a lot of RPO's and rolling out as well then I see it being a good offense. Getting snaps under center is usually a huge adjustment from highschool where everything is shotgun.

It's not his game now, but I don't see that it can't be. The goal should be to get him to look to pass first, and only run to extend a play or when everyone is covered and he's got the room. Yeah, he hasn't played in a pro style offense yet, but I won't say that he can't excel in one…yet. Saban's clearly got his eyes on developing the perfect hybrid of pro style and spread, which makes sense given our roster and his philosophy.

Pro style is such a misused term these days when everyone doing pro style also does hurry up, shotgun, RPO's etc. I think he's talking about play action, tight ends, controlling time of possession, etc. But don't ask Saban if they'll be a ball control offense.

that is pretty much the expectation for us this year. we have very high (for App) hopes. i wasn't a fan of the FBS move (rather win titles than bumfuck nowhere bowls) but we've been good so far.

Since you and GA Southern left FCS, NDSU has been feasting. I miss your competition.

It's too bad that the state of ND actively works against NDSU expansion. Additionally it's so geographically isolated from any G5 conference; only has 14,000 students; and has a domed staduim that is already maxed out at a little over 19,000 (so would need a new stadium). Otherwise I would say NDSU should move up.

Anyone else read through SBNation for their proposed changes to CFB? Obviously none of them will happen anytime soon, but I'm a big fan of pods for conference scheduling, and I'd be ok with field level ribbon boards or some other method of showing ads without interrupting gameplay a la soccer. Halftime shows could easily be made shorter, as we can flip around ourselves, and there's no shortage of online clips to watch the highlights we did miss.

So, did those two posts in the Pence/Notre Dame thread get him banned? Is it just a temp or a perma?

Or was it a post that was deleted or something?

Fuck Saban if he's going to just leave us in May for a job that isn't even open. What an asshole.

Unbelievable.
I don't know if I'm going to be able to get used to your new avatar.

Did we find out if Ron Paul is on a temp vacay or if he's perma'd?

Golden Domers are chickenshit!!
I think that, in a way, we're all permanently banned. You're permabanned. I'm permabanned. Cyan is permabanned. That's just how life works.

Coworkers from my work-study job bought me an "Alabama Does" Jonathon Allen shirt as congratulations for me finally getting a job offer :')

All I'm wearing this season.

ESPN announces Lee Corso “has agreed to a multiyear deal” to remain on College GameDay.

Totally got the vibe last year was his final year, seemed like they were doing a best of Corso montage every week.

As the University of Florida’s deputy Title IX coordinator, Chris Loschiavo heard complaints of gender discrimination that sometimes included allegations of sexual battery.

But it has been learned that using a university-supplied email, he also bought pornographic videos with titles that included erotic torture and rough sex, cyborg sex, threesome sex and more.

Loschiavo was fired last year with officials pegging it publicly to a conflict of interest that came to light during the Title IX hearing of UF football player Antonio Callaway.

Loschiavo was recently hired as the Title IX coordinator of Florida Polytechnic University. His UF supervisor, Jen Day Shaw, gave him an effusive recommendation.

Now, both are out of a job.
