College Football Week 15 - ARMY versus NAVY

I'd say Manziel for Heisman. New QB, new coach, new league, and they came extremely close to going undefeated.

I'm just glad Florida's secondary performed better than Bama's did and we got to beat him this year. And that we put an LB in the running lanes to contain him.

What happened to Klein falling off number 1? Just that loss to Baylor?

Did he not finish well? I think he was definitely more consistent the whole year compared to Manziel.

The only way Bo is leaving is a contract not being renewed. As long as he gets at least 9 win seasons and goes bowling, he's probably safe (then again, Solich).

We'd probably still have Callahan if he hadn't recorded another losing season. Well, his buddy Pederson was gone and couldn't back him up too, but still.

The one thing that will get anyone fired in Nebraska is how well Memorial Stadium is selling tickets. Every time they've seen slowing ticket sales at home, at a pace that might risk the sellout streak if the next year was worse, they've fired the coach. If Pelini can keep winning 9 every year he'll stick but if ticket sales slow enough and/or he dips below 9 even a bit he's gone. If we keep seeing blowouts like we did this year or, God help us, like 2007 I wonder how much it'll affect ticket sales.

Going to be sad if Te'o finishes better than 3rd (and a distant 3rd at that). Yes he was a great player, but if KSU or A&M didn't have their respective QBs this season would they be where they are today? Take away Te'o and ND is still probably undefeated (or they might have lost to Pitt, who knows?)

Manziel for Heisman is a joke. His stats in the second half of games are abysmal. His numbers against the three ranked teams he faced (they lost to two of them at home) are pedestrian at best. He was arrested before the season showing a lack of personal integrity (which the Heisman trophy states as part of its criteria).

I like how when Case Keenum puts up silly video game numbers at Houston under the same coach, he's a system qb. But you translate that to Texas A&M and apparently this redshirt freshman (not a freshman) is doing this on his own.

Colin Klein is still a better qb than Manziel and lost fewer games. Mariota is a better quarterback/runner than Manziel and lost fewer games.

So new rumor on Rivals is that FSU's going to bail to the 12 with the usual suspects chiming in Greg Swaim and the WVU posters (ESPN Dallas affiliate is the original source).

SEC! SEC! SEC!

So Manziel is going to win the Heisman based basically on his performance vs Bama...

I'd rather see Te'o win it to show Defense some love.

Also, sorta-OT but Christian Ponder got engaged to Samantha Steele:

Nice score there, Ponder. The Liberty Univ alumnus status would give me caution, though.

Samantha Steele is nice and all but she is no Erin Andrews.

Edit: Erin is also a UF grad. She's the perfect woman.

Freshman status should not hurt him.

He's got the SEC's single player yards for the season record. The previous 2 record holders won Heismans (Tebow and Cam).

He's got that Flutie knack for crazy runs. It's one thing to just run over people, or straight line speed, but he'll loop back around, fumble the ball, get the ball back, and throw a touchdown pass going the other direction from where his momentum is taking him. He's got a genuine Highlight Reel.

Unfortunately, the Alabama game really helped him in the Heisman Race.

Case Keenum was all passing. And since it's a system passing attack, it's not as impressive. Yes, Manziel's passing in that same system. It's not really the passing that's gotten him into the discussion. It's the wacky running around part.

Yes, more people should be told about his arrest in the offseason. I hadn't heard of it till after the Alabama game. More people should know that it includes underage drinking, false ID, and racial slurs. That should hurt his chances, but ESPN isn't talking about this.

Still doesn't mean that Manti should even be invited. He shouldn't. Might as well be Freddie Roach with hands (only limedust and mre will understand this ;P ) Basically, Freddie Roach's senior season, quarterback kept throwing right at him. Right in the numbers. Would have had 8+ INT's if he could actually catch a football.

Notre Dame, INT's and a E:60 story is what Manti Te'o is.

He's a nicer Rolando McClain. Great College LB, but not a Heisman winner. You need to break NCAA single season records on defense to get on that trophy. 25+ sacks, 15+ INT's, score multiple Defensive Touchdowns. Something gaudy.

Oregon's QB is good, but does not have Manziels numbers. Especially running (yeah, JFF ran more, but he leads the SEC in Rushing and Rushing TD's)

But then, Charles Woodson won a Heisman, so who fucking knows.

Debating making the drive to Memphis for our bowl. Funny we got matched against a team we beat week 1 by 15. They look to have gotten better though.

Apparently huge rift between him and the AD at OSU caused him to look away.

This never got much press but there were rumors last year we were going after him (A&M) and he almost came here when we got Sumlin. As stated evidently there was big issues with loyalty between him and the ath dept (related to his contract). Who knows how accurate that was but if hes leaving now would make sense.

Damnit, everything happened so fast. Everyone on the radio was saying Gundy, now some are backtracking and saying he has an offer.

Wally Hall is a joke.

After last time with the Petrino story and all the stuff that has happened this year someone should make it a law that Arkansas be forced to hire a new coach every year.

George Schroeder from USA Today also reporting the rumors are false.

I won't believe anything until Gundy issues a statement or puts on a different colored hat at a press conference.
