College Football Week 6 - If the Stanford Tree falls...

What's all this talk of Strong leaving?

and for Arkansas? Not even a concern, if he took that job he wouldn't be making a penny more then he is here, will have a harder time recruiting, and almost zero chance of winning a division title in the next few years. The upside is he would be coaching a SEC team, albeit a middle of the pack team. The great thing about the job here is what so many try to say are our downside. We are not in a college town where the football game is the only thing to do on any given Saturday. Here you can have sub par games against the likes of FIU and Southern Miss without boosters starting a search committee for a new coach.

Dollar for dollar there is not a better job when you weigh salary and pressure, not to mention facilities.

I just don't see it happening, not for Arkansas, not for a lot of schools. The number of schools I actually fear are probably less then a handfull.

Really enjoyed this last weekend:

...and the aggressivenss of Soph DT Jernigan after the play:

15 yard penalty, ACC Refs in the pocket I see. Fortunate to not be in the SEC, Mike Slive would suspend him.

I don't think we're hot piss, but I don't think Arkansas is either. We've been basically even the past dozen years in any meaningful categories. They're in a better conference, but he could get a lot of jobs in a better conference.

I'm sure you know the reason he is linked to Arkansas, is that he's from there. Please don't leave that tidbit out.

Thoughts on Week 6 Games:

- Great games this weekend! :)

- Another test for FSU this weekend. A "focus" test, if you will. But FSU should be able to, at minimum, out-talent NCSU and get out of Raleigh with a double digit win. Gotta love playing in the ACC ACC ACC.

- I think the gatas can win here. If they play a perfect game (no turnovers, and few penalties), then LSU is in trouble. Expect gatas to open up the playbook and really get at that vaunted LSU defense. Expect both teams to leave it all out on the field.

- Same goes UGA and USC. Critical game for both.

- Is TTU for real? Did anybody know that TTU is 4-0 and unranked?

- Tejas should be able to limit WVU, at least somewhat. Going to be nice to see WVU go up against a real Defense.

- Miami will get exposed again.

what is Nebraska doing? Unless this AD is totally separated from the Miami mess.

Still think Alabama should get rid of it's 2 Miami Scandal-connected coaches.

Eichorst, the guy who just resigned from Miami and is probably going to Nebraska, came in after all the issues at Miami to clean up the program. Worked with Barry Alvarez, former husker current Wisconsin AD, for a few years and knows the big ten pretty well. I don't know much else about him but the people who know the guy really like the hire.

They have actual athletes on their Defense. I don't expect WVU to put up 40pts.

But hey, I'm doing horrible in the Pick Em this year. what do i know? :lol
Yeah, I'll be surprised if WVU doesn't approach 50. Geno is too good, and his receivers are sick.

OSU would have scored more with a real downfield passing threat like Lunt.

Turnovers are the only way Texas can hang with WVU, IMO.

Dammit Duke, Renfree is now a game-time decision for Duke. May be changing my pick at the last minute, but for now I will keep the Blue Devils.

Virginia is also starting Phillip Sims @ QB. Seems like he's done well in his appearances so far this year, and has surpassed the previous starter. Maybe a change of pick is in order.

The WVU game will be the biggest regular season game I've been to in a very long time. Should be a lot of fun. The loss of Malcolm Brown is pretty significant for UT. The defense is kind of hit or miss but has a knack for making big plays. I could see a turnover or two being forced.

WVU has no need for a run game what so ever.

Fixed that for you.

In all seriousness though. Hoping that Shawne Alston is back this week.

He's the big back that rushed for 120ish against Marshall where we piled up over 300 on the ground. That was the most balanced I've ever seen our O. He hasn't played since due to a thigh bruise. There was report yesterday that he was practicing and will play but I'll believe when I see it. It'd be nice to have him back there for pass-pro and an inside run threat.

WVU will not score over 40, just wont happen.

Sounds like a ban bet to me.

You've watched more B12 games than I have. I'm just leery of saying WVU will still go on a scoring spree against a team with a ton of talent like Texas. They recruit well every year, and don't have much attrition.

They had a better defense last year, and they got scored on by all the good offenses they played in conference. The closest comparison to Geno is RG3, and he destroyed UT the last two years.

Sure they have athletes, but they didn't show me much when I was at the game on Saturday.

I got an email from my alma mater announcing major renovation of the student rec center. The highlight being:

I was mad for a second. And then I remembered that the Student Rec center is supports by student fees, and not the money I give to the university or tax dollars.

Now I kinda like it.

So you guys will have girls lounging in bikinis in the middle of campus?

Never said WVU will get blown out or even lose (think they will lose though), but they will not score more than 40 points. Not on the road in a night game vs a quality opponent.

Sucks for students that have to pay the fees.

We just built a new student year couple years ago. It added a movie theatre, giant ballroom, new food court, tons of study space, couches everywhere, and houses all the student group offices. I think students paid/pay $5 a year on their tuition for it, for the next 10 years or so, so its not too bad.

Huh, that looks like the redesign CU did 10 years ago. Conversion into atrium-style spaces. More natural light.
