This has to be the quickest I have ever cancelled a pre-order. I pre-ordered on Friday after the Kinect 180. Cancelled as soon as I got home today after the cboat news. Since I was going to dumpster the kinect anyway I may as well wait til next Spring and get one without.

Your not wrong that its costing MS a lot since its development is in house from the bottom up its also probably another reason they are behind and are so committed to see it through.

There’s also the challenge and cost of creating a new chip from scratch, which can run into the tens of millions of dollars and take months of testing. One mistake in design or manufacturing slip-up can cause months of delay to a final product. 1 - Been at MS in some capacity since pre 360 which probably shortens the list alot
2 - Is in Germany for the show - again this chops the list
3 - Someone has to ask people what sites they saw, and anyone who visited churchs and parks over the weekend pre-show is suspect

I guess he's an AV specialist who works on location and coordinates the presentations, and a pretty likeable guy who everyone talks to and spills their souls to...thats my FBI profile on him. :/

Actually, Cboat is a very beautiful professional woman. All the male employees find it easy to tell her anything. Plus, she is the last person they expect to post leaks on GAF.

If it's that expensive MS would have a problem selling it as a stand alone product as well. (you know, provided it's removed from the bundle)

In many ways it did.

The adoption rate is so low that the OS growth for W7 > W8 in some recent months.

The weak W8 OS is also seen helping people transition to iPad/Android tablets.

I don't see how this can happen at all. It's not like they are going to overproduce it if there is no demand and it's not like they can't sell it stand alone like the current kinect. Some games will have it as a mandatory requirement anyway.

I mean the first kinect was a stand alone add on and it broke a World Guiness Records in sales...

Clearly there are yield issues but calling the affected areas "a good chunk of Europe" is a stretch.

Regarding the Reddit dude, he does make a good point about the streaming of the conference in the first post, not sure what unfinished architecture has to do with that. I believe in cboat in the main though.

Financially, which is where my point was coming from, it didn't. At all.

Now, I'm sure Microsoft would have liked Windows 8 to be more successful, and thus make them more money, but it still doesn't change the fact that they weren't hurt financially hurt by Windows 8.
