Everytime I see one of these threads, I hope to read something about Amazing Spider-Man (even after the organic webbing thing), but what, has it really completely gone downhill after that?

Actually, that happened in Spectacular Spider-Man.

This is gonna hurt:

Birds of Prey #79 - This title is officially more entertaining when they're tearing around Gotham City, but I'll takes what I's can gets.

Ex-Machnia #8 - Brian K. Vaughn, we love you. Everyone who wasnt' picking up this title grabbed the first trade, right? Right?

Ocean #4 - It's an Ellis mini, and so far it's one of his better ones at that. Solid, though if you aren't buying it at this point you'll just want to look for the trade. Chris Sprouse's art is freakin' awesome.

Promethea #32 - And thus Promethea comes to an end. I would have loved to have picked up the variant edition...if it wasn't stupid expensive. I may have to buy two copies of this as it is, in order to assemble the poster without shredding my one copy. Alternately, I'll just let the Internet do that for me.

Tom Strong #31 - Frankly, it's about time this came to an end. The guest writing has been fun, but the series isn't the same without Moore. Don't get me wrong, I'll keep buying it, but...yeah.

Astonishing X-Men #8 - Well, it's about goddamn time.

She Hulk #12 - Hey, Marvel's two best titles are coming out this week. Thank god this is returning in May.

Dork Tower #30 - Role-playing geek humor! Woo!

Lupin III World's Most Wanted, Vol. 4 - I'm at least 10 volumes behind on reading this. Yet, I keep buying it. Oh, Lupin, I cannot resist your charms, even if I don't have time to read them.

PS238 #10 - Superhero geek humor! Woo!

Queen & Country Declassified Vol. 2 #1 - More Cold War spy goodness. Awesome, awesome, awesome.

Man, that's a big ol' pile of comics. On top of this, recent volumes of Here is Greenwood and Maison Ikkoku went AWOL en route to my comic shop, and may be waiting for me this week. Oh, this is going to hurt.

I picked up a Queen and Country trade on recommendations here. Haven't read it yet.

I've decided that Geoff Johns is like Reeses Peanut Butter cups. Tatses good, no nutritional value, but I can eat 'em by the pile. Rereading some of his JSA lately I was surprised how forgetable most of it was, and yet while reading it, it's a blast. Notable exception given to the last year pluss worth of JSA, which is probably even better than that (especially the Black Reign and Degaton one-off stories).

That said, at least he's putting GL right again, even if, at the end of the day, the story that does it won't be much more than a series of shocking turns and reversals.

In summary of this week:

Green Lantern: Rebirth was awesome - though I was disappointed to see Ollie only muster up on tiny arrow. Heh.

She-Hulk was outrageously funny, especially the "breaking down the fourth wall" sequence near the middle of the book.

Astonishing X-Men was spooky. Great Cyclops scene, creepy ass Sentinel, and possessed corpose. More mysteries are unfolding...

And Human Target was the best the title has been, ever. Todd McFadden, from the original miniseries, is back, and he's here to make Chris Chance's life a living hell. It's a really, really big shame this title is being axed.

Teen Titans and Ex Machina were great, too. Daredevil was a bit underwhelming.

Picked up a ton of stuff today, i've only read Daredevil and Astonishing X-men.

Daredevil: I thought it was a good end to the arc. I really felt sorry for Melvin, I have no idea about this White Tiger character... never really heard of them before, and I really like how things came around full circle at the end with the flashback of the Kingpin.

Astonishing X-men: I need to re-read the last issue because I only vaguely remember what happened. The one thing that really stood out from this issue was the Cyclops scene nomoment referenced in his post. Very Cool.

More updates as I read more.

How about Fables. It's clever and uses well known characters, with a twist.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
>>>When's the next AXM TPB due? I dislike buying individual comics.

Sometime in 2006. Heh.<<<

<----waiting for the inevitable HC... :/

How was I the only one to pick up Runaways #1 Relaunch this week? It was great guys, and sets up the new series nicely.

She-Hulk, Ex Machnia, AXM, GL:R and Runaways were all great this week. A+.

I grabbed Runaways based off your recommendation and, well, it's not bad...but...it's nothing special either. If I had a history with the characters I'd keep picking up issues just to see what happens, but they didn't grab me enough to warrant a montly purchase. I'll keep an eye on it though.

Spider-Man/Human Torch.

Issue #2 out next week.

GREEN LANTERN: REBIRTH#4 you know, i know that while hal jordan, guy gardner, john stweart and kyle rayner where amazing individuals, i always figured that just about anyone that was "heroic" enough could use the ring.
geoff johns showed us how hard it is being a green lantern. :) and what it takes to become one.
i dont usually do this but i actually let out a cheer as i read the last page of GL: R and saw brother hal back in uniform, ring in hand. it's been 11 years to the day, but it's good to have him back.
and if anyone wants to read a book that's actually funny, do yourself and bwahahaha your way down to the store and buy JLA: classified (but dont flip flop on your color scheme or lose your collar just cause your old bat of a wife doesnt like your clothes)

DarienA

The black man everyone at Activision can agree on
Green Lantern Rebirth 4 kicked so much ass that near the end I wanted to jump up and down like I was in a movie where a hero had just been revived and was ready to kick ass as the triumphant return music was buildling to a crescendo.

Loved Runaways. I liked the original run, but this one has far more promise already. It was nice seeing those characters again.

I of course picked up Ex Machina and Life During Wartime (probably my favorite comic outside of Walking Dead).

I did not care for Astonishing X-Men. Is it just me, or is this comic just slowly falling apart? The last few issues (basically anything since the return of Collosus) have been incredibly disappointing. One even had them battling a Godzilla-knockoff, which just felt so out of place to me. The ending of the last issue was so ridiculous that I almost threw it down in disgust. I'm not sure if I should even bother with it anymore.

I'm the exact opposite. The title was already incredibly good until Colossus' return, but now, Whedon and Cassaday are just knocking it out of the park. I love Kitty and Peter's lingering doubts about their actual "connection," and the mystery that is slowly unfolding is very intriguing.

I'll say it once, and I'll say it again, Astonishing X-Men is the best X-Men title in years, even ahead of Morrison's great New X-Men.

OK, late bump but I just picked up my month's pull...

New Xmen: W T F If this turns out to be legit, that's quite possibly the creepiest thing of all time.
though my guess is that it's Emma showing david how badly things could turn out to be
