Can anyone ID who that school girl character is in that Quitely drawing? Feel I should know but coming up with nothing.

Kill Your Boyfriend

Vertigo joint with Philip Bond. Clever and rebellious, while never stepping over into pretension. The perfect pop comic. If I was to give any Grant Morrison work to somebody unfamiliar, it'd be KYB or WE3.

So this crossover that's kinda being built up as this huge fucking climax to the last 11 issues of story? Yeah, absolutely fucking pointless. That plus the fact Marvel has decided to throw any sort of visual coherence out of the window by putting a team of rotating artists with Waid in order to ship multiple issues each month, and yeah, DD has been disappointing lately.

Meanwhile, Defenders just keeps getting weirder and weirder, therefore better.

(okay fine Journey Into Mystery/UXF/UXM/WatXM are also good contenders for best marvel book)

i didn't think that was the "climax", since nothing really got dealt with definitively. it wasnt a tremendously memorable crossover but at least it idnt drag its nuts about/got over quick. and yeah, the artist thing's a shame but i havent seen anyone i've minded yet. the arc's still going.

so was that a yes to Iron Fist in defenders? and secret avengers, man i can't get into that lineup at all.

Everyone that picked up AvX Versus should have bought Uncanny X-Men #11 instead. Worth it for the Colossernaut introspection alone.

And Cyclops' "A Letter to Humanity"?

Chilling. :O :O :O

Maybe I'm crazy, but isn't Hope actually dangerous? Like, isn't the Phoenix Force coming for her? The same thing that has driven Scott's wife insane on several occasions, also drove Scott's ex insane (or the clone of his wife?) and drove his present squeeze insane, as well as her clones? And is something so dangerous that his wife's entire family was murdered by an alien empire in the vain hope of preventing its return?

I mean, it just seems a wee bit hasty to say "Oh they took her away because she was a mutant!" when the danger in question is something that ate suns when it was still relatively weak.

I've been trawling through the old Uncanny X-men for a while....I think I'm somewhere in the 80s though I haven't read it for a while and I'm still amazed by this whole Pheonix Force stuff from reading the posts.

I mean really? How many fucking times is this PF rigmarole going to go round and round? Is it ever different between each arc of the thing reappearing to yet another Summers' family member?

It hasn't happened that many times in all the decades.

OK maybe I exaggerated a tiny bit, probably stems from the fact I hated the whole Jean Grey/PF thing.

I just don't understand why she won't stay dead :(

The answer is in her name right? It's kinda how Phoenix work. It's actually the point of the whole thing. Death/rebirth.

Well I always thought she was just a host for the PF (or so far in from the comics I've read), and that it would move on to something else once she kicked the bucket. The the PF itself was one of the eternal forces in the Universe, and the host didn't truly matter in the whole rebirth aspect.

I think I need a few decades worth of lore to catch up on.....possibly just wiki the entire thing!

I can't say enough good things about these two titles.
Flash #8: This book has been what the New 52 is all about, taking a familiar character and world and expanding on it to make it interesting. Turbine is an interesting villain not only because he's crazy but you also kind of feel sorry for him. I'm also very interested with what's going on with the Central City Police and
It looks like Pied Piper is appearing soon.

All Star Western #8: The writing and artwork have been fantastic from the start. Moritat captures both the beauty and grit of the West while providing backdrop to Gray and Palmiotti's naturally flowing dialogue.
Plus, Arkham is such a screw up but I really like him!
It was great to see him in jail talking with the criminal and trying to rehabilitate him. Unfortunately, I get the feeling he's going to have a tragic end but hopefully that won't happen for a while.

Well, it IS Amadeus Arkham. You already know how his story ends, I'm afraid.
That's true but I wasn't sure if they'd change it somehow with the New 52 and all. Probably not!

Unrelated, who's gonna do the thread for May?

LiQuid!

I proudly and openly admit to wishing death upon the mothers of people I don't like
Haha, were people actually complaining about AvX Versus #1? That might have been the single dumbest comic book I ever read in my entire life. It was so much better than the main title.

This week had some GREAT books IMO.
Daredevil was terrific, granted it didn't resolve the harddrive arc/story itself, but I loved the character interactions, plus Greg Rucka got write Spidey in 2 books, so it's all golden IMO.
...and this scene is terrific-

Other stuff I liked this week include-
FF #17, all things considered, everything that happened in this issue, aside from Johnny calling Spidey when it's not convenient, would happen if your roomie was the Lord of the Negative Zone.

Transformers Autocracy and Robots in disguise were good this week IMO.

Anyone reading Mark Millar's new books, Secret Service and Supercrooks? Supercrooks is Ocena's eleven but with supervillains. I'm rather enjoying it.

Captain America & Hawkeye was OK, but I'm not liking the non superhero outfit.

Those of you who are annoyed by the constant changes comic book companies do, HAVE to read The Goon 39...do I gotta post some pages to convince you guys?

TMNT #9 was great, and that last page man...
SHREDDER UP IN THIS BITCH!

Aquaman was good.

All-star Western continues with the beautiful wome...I mean ART, the beautiful ART!

Anyone else read The Twelve #12? What'd you think of the finale?

Parallax

best seen in the classic "Shadow of the Beast"

jesus. this is why daredevil is one of my favorite characters. the man loses more than most people in his position, and he wakes up day to day with this in mind....
