Fuck physics, I got a pelvic thrust
Green Lantern was the worst superhero movie I've ever seen, easy, but it did make me revisit a few DCU books on my iPad while I was watching so I guess it did have its intended effect, although a bit backwards.
You would do well to check out Catwoman or Electra or anything pre-Y2K, not to mention any of the modern day superhero movies that nerds mistakenly think are good, like Thor or Captain America or The Dark Knight.
I thought Green Lantern was fine. Not god tier like Punisher War Zone but a pretty fun first effort.
Watched The Incredible Hulk today. It was about as good as I remembered it. Nothing special, but not bad either. There a couple of nice references to shield and the Super Soldier program ("It was put on ice for a reason"). Also references to Doc Samson, Rick Jones, and Nick Fury. I was gonna ask about must read Hulk stories, but that was answered earlier in this thread. There seems to be a couple volumes of "Incredible Hulk Visionaries" by Peter David that I may check out.
I think next I'm going to watch Thor next. Gonna leave Iron Man 2 for last since it's more avengers focused.
At worst it was average. The hate for this movie is unfounded.
No, it's pretty much founded.
Even for a comic book movie Green Lantern was bad.
Nah I don't see it. The hate is pretty much GAF being GAF. There's just as much stupid shit going on in Thor and that's far best loved here.
I regretted seeing GL while still seeing it. The only way to improve upon that experience would be to have actually not seen it at all.Nah I don't see it. The hate is pretty much GAF being GAF. There's just as much stupid shit going on in Thor and that's far best loved here.
GL like Thor improves on each viewing.
I think the reviews and the box office numbers all point to far more people than GAF just hating it.Nah I don't see it. The hate is pretty much GAF being GAF. There's just as much stupid shit going on in Thor and that's far best loved here.

No. The dislike for the movie is near universal. It's not a good film for many reasons: poor characters, a cookie-cutter comic book plot trying to shoehorn in too many ideas, too many villains, too much exposition, etc.
Thor at least had a hero who was relatable. And its plot wasn't a jumbled mess.
I'd say Thor leads in to Avengers better.
Thor and GL are in the same tier.
Your shtick is beyond self-parody at this point.Strange as most of the regular people in my life at least liked it. No one is going on about it being the worst superhero movie they've seen or regretting seeing it while at the theatre.
That's all GAF hyperbole. Exactly like the sheer hatred Iron Man 2 gets here, that's not reflected in the real world.
But that's GAF for you. People go in wanting to hate.
Your shtick is beyond self-parody at this point.
As already said, if it was just GAF, you wouldn't see the same reaction reflected by the critics (see rottentomatoes) and at the box office (see: its abysmal second-weekend drop). Iron Man 2 fared far better in both of those categories.
John Carter fared horribly as well, and is highly regarded outside of GAF. Funny that. And bringing up metacritic sites is beyond laughable.
And there is no shtick. You don't like it? Not a fuck was given. It's not stopping any time soon. If anything, I'll ratchet it up. If people bowed to public opinion idiocy like you suggest.....oh wait, looks like they already do.
ALLLLL OVER MY FAAAAAAACEDial H this week!!!!!!
I don't think people on GAF disliking GL makes then contrarians. The movie was disliked by a lot of people. It was a failure both critically and commercially and failed to win over the most ardent of fans.
Oh nevermind. Now you're just trolling. I thought you were being serious. And the Frost Giants alone put Thor in the same bracket at GL, easily. Both are B-C tier.
Thor: Father, lets kill them together
Odin: Silence![]()
So in this thread I got some people into Atomic Robo, for the new one I'll get you shmucks to read The Goon.
Dial H this week!!!!!!
This reminded me. I was gonna pick a few trades at amazon but vol 3 is over a $100! Anywhere else to buy it and the rest together? I need to keep shipping costs low.
I actually saw the GL movie on TV a week or so ago. Hadn't seen it before. I wasn't really impressed by it but I'm not sure I'm seeing it as the mega disaster everyone else saw it to be.
Of the big superhero flicks this past year my favorite was probably Captain America.
Earth 2 is 4 dollars? Wut da heyl.
Yeah the people comparing it to Catwoman are crazy. That was an abomination. Of course I also didn't think Daredevil was so bad either. The theater cut was pretty awful but I found the director's cut to be much better.Exactly my point. It's a fun movie, that while not perfect, is also not OMGtheWorst as GAF thinks. But then GAF rarely gets it right. Speed Racer being the one exception. Great film.
It's about 40 pages, IIRC.
Let's see what did I buy off of Comixology today.
GI Joe A Real American Hero 160 and 161 (I have a lot of catching up).
S.H.I.E.L.D 1-3
Batman #1 -I'll admit cursoriness is making me check out these relaunches.
Captain America 1-3 (99 cent sale)
Punisher 7 (though 2.99 for 22 pages can go fuck itself).
The Activity 1
Ghost Projekt 2
I have to admit I've never really been into Superheroes in the traditional sense, but ah fuck it I'll give a few a try.
That said I have no clue what the hell is what because there seem to be 400 different variations, it's confusing (well on the Marvel side at least).
The old trades are out of print. Your best bet is ebay and see if you can find someone selling a lot of vol 1-4, 5 should still be in print
Daredevil sounds like it might be right up your alley, and that's just on issue 11 now, which would make it relatively easy to catch up.
Now if I can only find it on Comixology. Like I said Marvel stuff can be so jumpy.
That said I wish Dark House was integrated with it. It's really annoying. REALLY ANNOYING
God forbid I wanted to start reading Hellboy and remember that I have the first volume of Lone Wolf and Cub! Grrrr
I get why companies want their own app too, but why do they have to wall themselves out from the marketplace everyone pretty much uses.
I actually used the website today. Not too bad, but seemed a little sluggish on Chrome.A lot of people buy using a computer and then read on the tablets as the website is much easier to browse than the app.
