i feel like Larocca's art got better as time went on. some of his early Iron man stuff is rough.or maybe i just got used t it after a while
I love LaRocca's Iron Man.
Nope. Nooooooooope. Nope nope nope. Seeing Larroca go from a fun 90's comic book artist working with Claremont on Fantastic Four then X-Men, and going through some creative crisis of confidence and heading towards that terrible realistic style that gives way to hacks like Greg Land from his later X-Men runs and then Iron Man is a major source of my own core comic upset.
From fun splashes such as this on Fantastic Four:
colourful dynamic takes on X-Men:
to rectangle after rectangle of dreary Tony Stark and Pepper Potts coloured often in the most disgusting ways:
and worse still even GREG LAND'ING himself:
Used to be one of my fave artists but not anymore. Sad. Just looks like the industry chewed him up as a talented fun artist, and spat him out as just another hack meeting deadlines
Ironically enough, Stegman is that fun 90's comic book artist I enjoy again, and his upcoming Fantastic Four work is going to probably slot in right next to Larroca returning to the book in his new dreary movie style.
