Peter before the no one dies line after JJJ's wife died at the hand of Smite scarred him and then the Lizard arc as well shown Peter's philosophy steadily changing due to him blaming himself for Silver Sable's death. He isn't nearly as compassionate to his enemies as he was before. Pre Smite attack Peter would not of taken Alpha's powers but took a more compassionate act.

The events leading up to 700 have gotten me interested.

He's been getting more extreme as time passes, remember the acid on sandman? He's not as content to just sit around and wait anymore, he's got a more "whatever it takes" attitude. I think that'll be the big thing in the goblin war arc, someone's gotta reel him back in. Slott's been pretty subtle about the change over his run, but it is there and it's been getting more pronounced.


Snyder and Capullo are fun to follow on twitter too, especially Capullo. It really seems like he's having fun drawing Batman, I can't wait for the death of the family next week.

I think they will be mentioned sometime, but probably not as previous Batgirls due to the New 52 Batgirl timeline.

The reason you don't get many good Batgirl stories is because they don't put good writers and artists on them for the most part. I thought the Stephanie Batgirl series was really lukewarm (and I really hated the costume after the tease of the #1 cover), and the Damion Scott Cass stuff was really pretty but very light on substance.

I think my favourite Batgirl stories are Spoiler stories...

What would a good Batgirl story be anyway? Does Teen + girl = light and fluffy, or is there somewhere original and meaty you could take the character?

I'm not exactly sure myself, but I'd like to be thrown into a great ride, not just some, "hey I'm a girl and I kick ass" kind of thing. Would Batgirl Year One be considered light and fluffy? I guess I really liked that story due to the little hints of what would become of her in The Killing Joke, plus the story of just finding herself.

I liked Talon, probably would like a dark Batgirl story. I'll take a look at that Batman Inc. special. What are these Spoiler stories?
 
One thing that surprised me in the Lizard arc that no one really seemed to be discussing was that Peter effectively
killed the Lizard. He was all but certain his injection would be lethal and while it didn't physically kill, it did destroy the Lizard persona (we'll see for how long, but still, the key part was his intent). Other than that his interactions with Morbius were ice cold.
 
My only problem with Morrison's X-Men run is that it got all crazy retconned after that. So now Jean's otherwise acceptable exit is impossible to explain (was it Magneto? Was it Xorn? Was it Xorne pretending to be Magneto pretending to be Xorn?)

It wasn't that confusing until they tried to introduce Xorn's twin brother.

A lot of Morrison's stuff wasn't retconned though. Jean is still dead, Emma is still with Scott, Genosha is still gone. They only destroyed the extinction gene and mutant subculture stuff.
 
Uncanny X-Force built on a lot of stuff introduced in Morrison's run.

And I've read every X-Men/Uncanny X-Men book ever made. New X-Men (until the retaded Xorn fuckery) is still my favorite arc.

Wasn't real sure how that all worked out. Don't have much stuff with Ms Marvel actually in it since I'm kinda meh on the character from what I've seen.

I was asked by a friend to put together some GOOD marvel stuff and I gave him this:

a brief 1 paragraph intro, written by myself outlining some basic stuff about Apocalypse being a dick to Cyke & Angel, Magneto's rule of Genosha and Colossus's death.

THEN:

Morrison's New X-Men
Whedon's Astonishing X-Men
Remender's Uncanny X-Force (issues 1-19)
Aaron's Wolverine & The X-Men (issues 1-8)
Remender's Uncanny X-Force (issues 20-3X)

That pretty much is 1 awesome story from start to finish with no bullshit crossovers, crap arcs or retcons.
 
Snyder and Lemire are fantastic on Twitter. Simone will fake taunt the Marvel guys too.

Stupid Liefeld probably thought they were serious and tried to join in. LOL

She slept with Namor, he tried to kill her, and now she's on the run. Isn't their relationship over?

Can someone fill me in on Cyke's relationship with Emma? The only other relationships he's been in are with Jean and Madelyne and given the stuff he did to Hope I wonder if he doesn't actually try to make the women in his life into Jean. I can't imagine that Emma would stand for it though.

And how has his relationship with his three kids been of late? It's still just three, right? Cable, X-Man and Rachel?

Has Cyke ever actually had any of the kids, like in universe yet? Rachel is the only one right?

When I really quit comics he still hadn't had any as far as current timeline went.

The Bryan Q Miller run with Stephanie Brown was fantastic. That's pretty much the epitome of a good fun superhero comic in modern times, while not being a completely superficial pointless story.

There's no reason that a teenage girl character has to have a light and fluffy tone, but there would have to be a talented writer involved. You don't want some 'edgy' guy to come in and make it all about rape or something. But also, the Bat universe doesn't really need another serious comic, so it seems to work out just fine when Batgirl takes a different vibe.

I think you are blowing that out of proportion.
Whatever Emma and Namor were doing is pretty much the same thing that Scott and Emma were doing when Jean was still around. Also he didn't try to kill her, he just took her phoenix power. Hopefully Cyclops will be by himself for awhile. I'm sick of relationship Scott.
 
Legion of Monsters #1 was fun, i thought Hopeless was writing Thunderbolts but looking it up, Way gets that book and Hopeless gets to slaughter every young character in the Marvel Universe. If Hopeless were writing Thunderbolts i might have picked it up.

Makes me so sad that the stephanie brown batgirl books are already so expensive. gotta try to hit the jackpot at the local used book stores. Same goes for volumes 3 and 4 of 52, and batgirl year one. I mean, shit DC, you actually like barbara, yet that story is out of print and 90 dollars. wtf.
