Alpha is gonna be done well before 700, I doubt he's still around after next issue.

If you had one thing to take away from both Spider-Island and Ends of The Earth, it's that Dan Slott is not above dragging stories way further than any sane person would.

New comic day! Although just Action Comics for, it was a pretty cool issue.

Any word on how Spider-Man is going to be effected for the Marvel Now stuff?

Reading these opinions about the future leadership of the X-Men is odd. You guys know that these people aren't real, right? They just act the way the writers want them to be? Wolverine could be a fantastic leader, but he could also have a vagina if the writers wanted him to.

Jesus christ i cant believe i just saw someone post this.

I feel like we are back in the 90s when people would have comic conversations and some asshole would always come and say you know they arent real right?

Of course we know they arent real, but characters have certain traits and characteristics that we expect.....if suddenly Wolverine became a totally absolutely perfect leader with little to no classic wolverine traits we would be pissed because its out of character, albeit it an imaginary character but a character nonetheless.
Would we boycott Marvel? No, be pissed for a while? yes.

Before you jump at me and tell me to chill, you chill.
This is the COMICS |OT| we are allowed to talk about these characters like they actually exist.

I shouldnt feel ostracized or feel the need to explain why i talk about these characters like this, not in the OT, if i was doing this in some other thread sure attack me all you want, but here? NO!
Let me speculate about these characters based on my unnecessarily large knowledge of their characterizations.

On Topic
ShadowCat for leader of the X-men next!

I love Kitty Pryde. She's probably the best example of a character growing up over the years. This girl went from 13 year old Sprite, to Headmistress Katherine Pryde and has remained consistently awesome. Next step: X-Men leader. Next next step: President.

Is this what I sound like when I endlessly whine about Bachalo? Jeez, I'm sorry guys...

Loving this Hawkeye series, some of the shit going on in this issue is so damn good as far as use of panels go.

The one thing everyone seems to agree on is that he's going to die. Its amazing how universal that sentiment seems. After I read the last issue my first thought was, "this kid is gonna die". When my brother came over I waited and he said the exact same thing. What is it about Alpha that makes everyone so sure he's going to die? I must know!

he seems like a character that will either die or go evil. and being attached to spider man reallys skews his chances towards those options.

Peter is gonna cure Alpha and then realize he can create a cure for himself but and decides to do it. Then he changes his mind.

amirite.

Also the reason Alpha has to die or become a villain is that he is totally unlikeable, his introduction was like a quick slap in the face. That's not how you handle someone that's supposed to either a) stick around for a long time and b) be a good guy

You're supposed to hate Alpha. He's a douche on all levels.

This is like when my partner says he hates the latest wrestling villain and I tell him "yeah...and?"

Slott's doing a stellar job setting up the ultimate heel.

Yea alpha probably going to be a billion that is not the obvious thing.

Anyone here read Witchblade and darkness I feel like these book are underrated.

OH MAN. :(

I couldn't resist... I looked at spoilers for this week's Punisher.

OH MAN. :(

I shouldn't have.

OH MAN. :(

I really, really shouldn't have. Now I'm scared.

Yeah Shadowcat, w/ Lockheed, Illyana, and Warlock were always my fave new mutants. Didn't give a damn about Roberto, and barely cared about Sam.

I like how she's fixing it and breaking it at the same time.

Shadowcat was never an X-Baby.

No, I hate 'em because he's a shit character, with the world's most generic character design and lacks of ANY interesting attributes besides being a selfish moron. If he was a wrestling villain, he'd be the Brooklyn Brawler, that guy everybody hates because he doesn't contain a single redeemable factor and is a waste of TV time.

There's the good kind of heat, and then there's X-Pac heat. Alpha is clearly in the latter category.

I hate Alpha because he's terrible to his GF, cares more about his powers than the safety of his loved ones, and has the emotional maturity of a common ground squirrel.

In other words for all the right reasons. Nothing shit here at all. If he were in the WWE, he'd be Alberto DelRio who has been setup with many of the same reasons to hate him. Slott knows his craft better than most doing Supers.

Alberto Del Rio is another perfect example, a character people boo because he's a terrible heel, with zero mic skills, title runs for no reason, and subpar in-ring ability. He truly is Alpha of the WWE, thank you for the help, Krypt.

Anyway, CSBG is doing a Top 100 Runs again, first time since the last election year of 2008. You guys should go vote! Just read the rules and submit your top ten. I'm still deciding on mine. I've decided NOT to put Scalped though, even though it just ended...it's just so early, ya know?

AND you can totally vote for Scott Pilgrim if you want, so that's one choice down.

Cannot agree at all. I love to hate Del Rio. Not even sure we're watching the same WWE. He's amazing on the mic, and a top shelf wrestler. He's the first great bad guy in ages.

Some great zero issues today. Stormwatch snuck up on me and took top honors. I want books on all the flashback characters.

I can't decide if I want to vote for Rucka/Brubaker's Gotham Central or Fraction/Brubaker/Aja's Immortal Iron Fist.

This is hard

edit:

1. Claremont's 1980s Uncanny X-Men Run(Paul Smith, Romita Jr, Marc Silvetri, Jim Lee)
2. Morrison's New X-Men
3. Ennis/McCrea's Hitman
4. Ennis/Dillion's Preacher
5. Morrison's Doom Patrol
6. Stan Lee/Romita Sr's Amazing Spider-Man
7. Morrison's JLA
8. Bryan Lee O'Malley's Scott Pilgrim
9. Fraction/Brubaker/Aja's Immortal Iron Fist
10. Rucka/Brubaker's Gotham Central

I'm happy with this list. Can't believe they let me for all that Claremont stuff, but once they allowed it, #1 was never in question.

Stormwath improved? I read all the way few issues in Cornell's run, but it was still too science babble for me.

I think he's pretty solid in the ring and his mic skills are good. He's just not heelish enough so against Sheamus (who sucks as this face), you get a very bland result. And they have fought like 527 times.

And I don't even know what they are thinking with Ziggler. Even when he wins matches, it comes off as a fluke. They need to have him turn face (maybe give Vickie to Del Rio?).

Just read the first 2 issues of Gambit. I'm impressed. Good looking comic with an interesting story so far. Remy got style.

Dude, this series is fucking dark. Holy shit,
Ozzy is going to be pissed. Lady Punisher is fucking up.

Got to read my comics :D

Amazing Spider-Man was okay. Slott is really making this character unlikable. He'll either have to prove himself to be hero, or be depowered. I also wouldn't mind seeing him shunned from super-hero society.

Hawkeye was good. I just want to let everyone know that there is a recommended listening in the letters columns by the crew. Enhance your reading!

Green Lantern was also okay, the introduction of Baz was interesting.

If people were wondering how the current storyline transitions into the War Zone mini, I think they just got their answer in a biiiiiiiiiiiig way... I just don't know if
Rachel is going to be around to see it now. How is Frank going to deal? Is he going to punish her now? :(

Oh, I was going to order Grendel Omnibus vol.1 from Amazon but they've placed the item under review. For those that have it, is there any problem with it?
Also, what's a good site to order from internationally? Shipping from amazon costs me too much but I have no other idea of where to order from.

Ummm, help?

Ummm, help?

It most likely means some customers have complained about the Amazon's packaging of the product. These things usually get resolved in a few days and they'll be selling it again.

So I've been reading Walking Dead in trade form only, cause i'm cheap and I wait for the library to get them in, but after reading vol 16, I couldn't wait to read up to issue 100, so I bought them on Comixology. Man, issue 100 hits hard. I honestly don't know where they'll go from here. Contemplating picking up singles from now on or just waiting for the trades again...

As for sites that are good to buy internationally, the only other option I tried is http://www.betterworldbooks.com
I just checked their prices for omnibus and they seem way more expensive than Amazon, but as far as shipping goes, I think they are pretty reliable.
I bought some absolutes through Better World a few years ago and received them in perfect condition. But the absolute packaging is pretty good, so it might not have had anything to do with Better World. They have higher prices but their international shipping is free IIRC.

Saw that the next walking dead trade will go up to issue 102, so i bought 101. I'm guessing that this storyline will continue in the next arc, its too big not to. Anxiously awaiting 102 to drop in two weeks.

Anyone here read Witchblade and darkness I feel like these book are underrated.

I read both. I've loved Witchblade for a long time now and Tim Seeley is doing an excellent job continuing the momentum Ron Marz had going. The Darkness I think needs a new artist, Jeremy Haun's art bothers me for some reason.

Yeah, this is definitely THE turning point in the series. I'm happy Rucka is getting the chance to fully finish this story. In terms of punishing,
Frank can't really blame Rachel, can he? I mean, he's just as much at fault in all this, except he didn't physically pull the trigger and kill a well known cop. Also, I'm interested in how the Heroes will respond to Frank's use of their gear for his own personal murderous intentions--if Rucka decides to make that a point.

Hey, comic geeks!

I'm a bit of a comic newbie - I've read a few things - Maus, Watchmen, Blankets, Chew, 49ers , Scott Pilgrim etc but in the grand scheme of things I've barely got my toes in the water.

I'd really like to broaden my knowledge and experience some great comics, but I'm always a bit intimidated by how much is out there.

So my idea is this - Would anyone be up for a comic themed book club where we pick something to read every week/fortnight/month/whatever, enjoy it together and discuss it?

Could be a great way to introduce new comics to each other and have a more focused discussion than the general, fast-paced monthly thread we have here.

If I start a thread in the next few days, who would be up for joining in? How long do you think we should read each thing for? I guess it would depend on what it is each time, but I feel a couple of weeks should probably be the minimum?
I'm also not sure what would be the best way to decide what we read each time - how do book clubs usually decide this stuff?

I, as you know, am in like flynn. This is a badass idea. Half the fun would be in the massive arguments deciding first book. My mind boggles at the choices.

Good good :D

I think we should start with a classic rather than something new, to be honest but I'm totally open to whatever suggestions people have.

I keep meaning to get around to reading Sin City, 100 Bullets and Sandman so I guess those are my initial suggestions

If it's like a monthly book club it should be a stand alone deal. 100 Bullets'll take you all year at least.

199 for a 7'' HD version, 16GB storage not sure resolution
299 for an 8.9'' HD version, 16GB 1920x1200 resolution screen

We could take the opportunity to venture into no-superhero ground. Like, he already mentioned Blankets, but that would make a hell of a monthly read.

Saw this. Though I have an ipad 3, this is great for anyone wanting to go digital and was considering a tablet.

i have a touchpad and i want something HD-er, so now i have a choice between being armlocked into a really expensive apple ipad. If the build quality is solid on the fire hd i'll probably go with that.
