I've been pretty disappointed with the X-universe over the last couple of years. NOW is really the last hope but I'm not overly optimistic. I do think that Marvel is focusing more on the Avengers and some of the writing decisions for X-books is disappointing.

It goes back to the Cyclops decision. Having the books revolve around this boob was not a good choice IMO. If that's going to continue, then I'm definately out. Wolverine will still get my business but I'd like to see significant improvement from the other X-titles.

The last year has been good for X-Men though. WaTXM and UXM and UXF were all great.

Those three were some of the highest selling marvel and highest reviewed as well.

Hawkeye #2 was great.

Loved seeing Kate in the mix this time and that Pizza Dog did get a new name.

Also, this has to be one of my favorite pics from the issue for some dumb reason:

Clint drinks his coffee like a pro.

In fact, I could totally read a book with no 'villains'. Just characters interacting and getting into scrapes. Falling out, making up, having a good ol chat.

X-men hanging out in a bar or playing baseball or goofing off is best X-men. Next crossover thing should be Bobby and Rockslide invites Spidey, Torch, and Deadpool over and have a prank contest on everybody.

X-Factor and New Mutants too ;p Legacy dropped off though...and I haven't tried plain X-men or Astonishing in a while but I heard good I think?

I'm the only one who saw many references to the TV series Sherlock in Hawkeye #2 ? ( Cumberbatch, the cirque, the wall signs and the swimming pool)

Nope, saw and was loving it. Clint was reminding me of Sherlock as well - mostly in his mutterings.

I also adored his bromance for Kate, it was cute really.

So according to Bleeding Cool in the one image from Uncanny Avengers of the dude being lobotomized. Yeah that dude is
Cyclops
.
Huh.

Amazing Spider-Man sucked. Alpha continues to be terrible, and Peter Parker spends half the issue as a whiny child and needs ANOTHER pep talk from a cast member to remind him, hey, you're fuckin' Spider-Man, ACT LIKE IT. Can't wait for this shit to be over with.

Hawkeye continues to be awesome. Please be on for the long run, David Aja. I'll pay you extra.

I read that Aja will finish this arc, then someone else is doing pencils for the next one, and then will come back for the one after that. He'll still be doing covers though for every issue - which makes me happy.

But yes, his artwork is so good for this series... I'm dreading when he steps away because I feel like it's his artwork that totally makes this work with Fraction's storytelling.

Yeah, Aja and Fraction is one of those pairings where the artist just elevates the material. It's like Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale. I'm not usually a fan of the writing style, but that art just makes it work.

But if that were the case
wouldn't his eyeblasts have obliterated whoever was attempting to lobotomise him, considering his eyes were held open?

I really hope this book ends up IIF good.

Alpha is chili, brahs are supposed to hate him. And the B list Mrvel now books have bad creative teams, Legion will be bad with Spurrier who onl re
Ies on mouth breather humor, Deadpool is lame with VH1 "comedians" and now Thunderbolts. At least JiM and Red Hulk look decent without that distinction.

Only 2 books for me this week. Hawkeye was amazing. Seriously, the art on that book is above and beyond anything in comics right now. Kate Bishop rocks. So glad she's in the book now.

Ultimate Spiderman is getting pretty boring. Miles Morales barely has his own personality, 14 issues into the book. I miss Peter Parker. Bendis was going places, especially when he added Human Torch, Kitty Pryde and Iceman as permanent support cast. It was so much better than this boring kid, his boring roomate, and his really boring uncle.

Guessing it has something to do with
the Phoenix Effect visible in his pupils
. Dunno, just sharing the rumor.

Local shop sold out of ASM before I could get there. :(

Got the last copy of Defenders they had, though!

That sucks.

I've gone digital with Hawkeye because I can get the comic at 8am while I'm at work over my phone versus having to wait until I get off work to head over to my LCS. I'm picking up floppies for this series, but having it digitally on both my iphone & ipad at the touch of a button before shops open here on the West Coast is quite a convenience thing.

Phantom Stranger and Animal Man were both pretty interesting. I'm sure I'll be in the minority here (since it seems like the.common perception is Geoff Johns = LOL) but I absolutely loved GL. I can't wait to see what Johns has planned for Simon and how the tong glitching out is going to affect him.

This issue was so good. David Aja knows how to deliver.

The video's old as dirt, but for laughs Comics Alliance took the video of Rob Liefeld and Todd McFarlane creating Overkill with Stan Lee and turned it into a picture series. Even if you've seen it before, it's worth a look and a chuckle or two. Someone should turn this into a regular feature: industry legend sits down with young up-and-coming artist or talentless hack, and together they design or redesign a hero/villain.

Stan Lee is is just crazy, lul.

Oh, I was going to order Grendel Omnibus vol.1 from Amazon but they've placed the item under review. For those that have it, is there any problem with it?
Also, what's a good site to order from internationally? Shipping from amazon costs me too much but I have no other idea of where to order from.

From this collection? I really wouldn't, lol.

Avengers The Initiative: Disassembled
Fantastic Four Visionaries
Iron Man: War Machine
Marvelman Classic Vol. 1 Premiere
Mighty Avengers Secret Invasion Book 1
X-Men Vs. Apocolypse Ages of Apocalypse
Iron Man: The Many Armors of Iron Man
Captain America: Ultimate Origins

Yeah i'd rather take that $40 and buy 4 really good trades than lots of random stuff.

Also, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Fed Ex tried to deliver my dcbs monthly shipment when i wasn't home and rescheduled it for tomorrow. :( :( :( :( :( :(

Alpha is such a douche. I mean, he gets hot ladies, I guess.

Doesn't excuse him for being a douche.

The one thing everyone seems to agree on is that he's going to die. Its amazing how universal that sentiment seems. After I read the last issue my first thought was, "this kid is gonna die". When my brother came over I waited and he said the exact same thing. What is it about Alpha that makes everyone so sure he's going to die? I must know!

Damn, I kind of went overboard with the comixology sale for The Boys last week-end and bought the first 2 omnibuses and issues 48-50, thus covering 1-50.
I'm done reading these, I didn't know the series, that was really great and now I remember why I love Ennis.

My only complaint would be the way mini-series are managed. I spent a lot of time scratching my head wondering what this Herogasm event they all mentioned was before I realized it was in that spin-off. Maybe the individual issues made this clearer and it's just an omnibus issue though.

Because getting hot ladies is a sin that must be punished with death.
That's not how I feel, but I would make an argument that a sentiment like this lingers in some people's subconsciousness

Today we learned that fraction should only write books where he has a clear lead

Also, "because i dont want to sleep with you" was such a great line

That's because Slott is a fucking hack and a character death is the easiest way to get some sort of Big Important Drama in comics, and ASM #700 is gonna be Big and Important. You put two and two together, and kablam, goodbye Alpha.

Maybe Alpha refuses to catch a thief and because of this spiderman dies, so he learns that with great powers comes great responsiblity.
So the comic becomes The Amazing Alpha forever.
