At least your favorite character didn't get possibly wished out of existence for another four years.

I like Jean Grey but she needs to stay dead. Her coming back again would be terrible. Her death should have stuck the first time around.

TBH, I hate all this Phoenix because Marvel themselves have no clue wtf it is.

Cyclops fans whine almost as much as he does.

legitimate gripes not whine

Crossover did a piss poor job of explaining people's motivations. X-Sanction tried to explain Cyke's promises to Cable but why was Cap being standoffish ?

Bah and humbug. Her coming back would be great. She's been dead for years man. She isn't Uncle Ben or Gwen Stacy. Her death has had 0 impact on anybody's character development, judging from the way Cyclops has pissed and danced all over her grave during AvX. She actually has an explanation for coming back from the dead IN PLACE.

Captain America wasn't even dead a whole YEAR. Kill off some other X-Man and let Jean come back. Speaking of they even brought back X-Man.

and that what is stupid about it, cosmic phoenix force nonsense.

RE: AvX 12

Did you mean Colossus instead of Magneto? Colossus is seen on the run in Marvel NOW, and Magneto was helping to fight Cyclops.

No worries if so, just curious.

no, it was how it is. The names were correct. Chances are this will be explained in a side story somewhere at some point in time.

Dear Marvel. Go fuck yourself.

Love, Cyclops fans, everywhere.

Personally, I'm done until they retcon this bullshit entirely. Fucking disgraceful.

Hi fellow cyclops fan, please don't speak for me because we clearly see things differently.

Why is it stupid that a character with the name Phoenix should die and come back from the dead repeatedly? That's kind of the entire point of a Phoenix. This is like me saying it's stupid that Cyclops has one eye, Angel has wings, Ice Man is covered in ice, or the Beast is beastly. She's the Phoenix. It's her thing. It has been for years now. We all know it's gonna happen again, so let's just get it on with already.

I don't lump the phoenix entity and Jean Grey together. To be more clear, I consider Jean Grey acting as a host for a cosmic entity only part of her history. Her code name was never Phoenix. Her coming back would be a mistake because it has been done before. Some deaths should just stick.
Marvel editorial seems reluctant to the idea. They just bait fans by releasing periodical teasers.

I was also primarily referring to the unexplained nature of the Phoenix entity and its seeming affinity for earth bound mutants.

Right now with all new X-men coming out, Jean's revival would not be as powerful as it should be if they choose to do it. Right now it is set up that Younger Jean has to cope with that. She doesn't get to grow old. Sure, it's hard to in this line of work but that kind of realization doesn't quite sink in until you learn it happens to you, I am sure. I also want to know if these X-men choose to stick around or not or if they can go back home.

They don't have to be the originals of the 616 timeline, per say, so I guess they can get away with the idea that some earth out there in the multi-verse is now without their X-men. This can be revisited in a later story arc to see how this effected this world in particular. I really try not to delve too much into time travel because I find it to be difficult to keep up with, but the potential of this new story is exciting to me and I believe the revival of Jean Grey would only hinder the story.

But she DID go by Phoenix several times. There was even a series titled "Cyclops and Phoenix" IIRC. I don't care too much about the nature of the Phoenix. I just liked seeing her fly around and blow stuff up with that wicked sweet firebird going on. That it made her ridiculously OP was just a side benefit.

Well yeah, I don't think they should do it now, since AvX was them missing the bus on that, but I'd like for it to happen sometime in the near future. Jean was one of the founding members; you don't see Susan Storm being dead for years and years so Reed can bang Dr. Doom.

I read my comics then I read AvX spoilers :|

Wolverine and the X-Men: Wow comic of the week, I am now a Doop fan. Thank you Mr. Aaron. I think the exchanges with Beast were my favorite.

Amazing Spider-Man: That a wrap for Alpha. It seems like Andrew (Garfield) (Tobey) Maguire is being put on the back burner until (I would bet) after 700.

Cyclops fans whine almost as much as he does.

lol

You are right about that. I was trying separate Jean from the cosmic entity. I know history links them together but using that as a reason to resurrect her yet again is stupid. I prefer there to be a distinction to be the two and personally I hate stories involving the Phoenix because of the way they seem incomplete and tbh nonsensical. I would hate for Jean to be stuck in an endless cycle of death and rebirth every x years.

*reads AvX 12 spoilers*
Wow. Avengers vs X-Men really did a number on Scott's character. At least Cap admitted he acted like a dick as well. That's probably the most you could hope for given how the series was heading.

*shakes head*

You people are discussing detailed spoilers for the finale of a major event book that doesn't legitimately come out until five days from now.

I'll see you then, in the new OT. >:|

His character is fine. He did both amazing and terrible things with the Phoenix Force (come to think of it, most of the terrible things came from his team mates. Not him). He was a desperate guy in a desperately bad situation looking for any answer he could to his problem. Cut the guy some slack.

I still love that Cyclops completely ignored the fact that the Phoenix Force destroyed numerous planets on the way to earth.

His bet was that Hope would tame it and Cable had warned about not letting the Avengers have her ( see above) and guess what
from the spoilers he appears to be right about her having the power to kickstart the X gene

Cyclops was awesome during Morrison and Whedon's run, I just like how well he was written as a leader. Really made up for whatever lameness he was written as over the decades.

Y'all know I'm a massive Morrison fanboy, but his dialogue is always really weird. Sometimes I think he treats it symbolically, as if the little balloons with the words in them are just purified distillations of an actual conversation, abstracted and removed one step, much like the 2d art of a comic is abstracted from our 3D reality (see Final Crisis, Seaguy, the Filth). But sometimes his dialogue is spot on and incredibly human (see parts of the Invisibles for instance).

I can see why a lot of people would hate it, but I often find myself grinning with glee at his abstract dialogue. It's like 21st century Kirby, but more refined and precise.

Haha I kinda get what you mean. I too am a big Morrison fanboy and I love the way he writes the dialog. Speaking of which, Batman Inc #0 had the enough proper dosage of Morrison speak I needed ^_^.
People hate Morrison because they can't be bald and sexy as he is. Me? I'm jealous *O*

Then I guess I'm being stupid. :p
But well, it isn't making headlines or anything, the downside of not being in an event, I guess.

i gave up on the book because I didn't like the Terrorism Myth arc and right after that it became a crossover with New Mutants with all 5 books shipping in one month, which i didn't order. After that it became a crossover with Mighty Thor, which i don't read, but got good reviews. I'd be up for an Ultimate Collection tpb of some sort but they lost me monthly. I'll probably give Gillen's Young Avengers a shot though.

It's Marvel. They retcon everything back to the status quo. Eventually.

Fuck, even Bucky's dumbass is alive again.

What is funny is that even if they decided to bring Jean back NOW, some people would interpret that as retconning. Like the past 10-15 years did not happen, or something.

Same with Gwen Stacy. "Yeah, she stayed dead for like, what? One year IRL? :P"
Nope. Even if they DO bring Jean back, it would be fine. Her death had the impact needed, and it is a permanent one. As permanent as one could get in comics.

Yeah, there is no status quo anymore.
It's one of the best things about marvel since Disassembled. Status quo is whatever the last event done. There was this huge period of time where status quo was the initiative, then it became Normam Osborn rulling the world, who knows? They might make Dr. Doom king of Europe one of these days that will be it.

Nothing is safe!

Well it's not a big Marvel property, so the main news sites don't cover it as much, hence the general lack of knowledge of Marvel's Best Book.

Anyone who hasn't read the whole run is a lesser comics reader.

Why does Cyclops even have fans, lol. A mystery for the ages. He's been lame dude #1 since the 60s.
This is what I've always thought and never understood the reasoning of elevating the character to such an important role in the X-universe. I think it was a mistake and hurt sales of X-books.

I was one of the biggest Cyclops-fan when Fraction wrote him. And when he estabilished Utopia. In Captain Hindsight mode, yeah, the way they (and him) shaped the current Uncanny around heavy hitters, and totally made them bland in the process was very bad, and totally the opposite of what Uncanny X-Men was about, like 20-30 years ago.

I still think that Cyclops has its place, but and yeah, even with AvX, he did some extraordinary stuff to save the remaining mutants the best he thought possible. And regarding to Schism, fuck Wolverine. Big time. What a hypocrite.

Marvel is obsessed with the original X-Men, despite them being super boring and unpopular. And they rarely ever mention the secret member, Sage, because she has more character and mystery than the other 5 combined.

How was he elevated? Cyclops was the X-men's field leader since day one.

I actually really like Cyclops. I don't know what the ladies see in him, but his power is a nifty one and there's no denying that his character's been developed into The Leader for years now.

I'mma sass you up!

SASS.

There had better be plenty of neck craning and finger snapping, or I will demand a refund! ;)

Man I'm not sure, but my hype for Battle Beasts has diminished a bit. I think it's because Godzilla not only scratches my monster comic itch, but it scratches the itch with a heavy duty rake and rends the flesh from my back. :3

Okay off to buy some India ink. Yeah, britches!

Stupid Hobby Lobby being the only retailer that carries Dr. Ph. Martins around here. >:|

Thanks ReiGun, fished some BP/DD issues out of the cheap box at the funnybook shop. See what I can whip up with that design.

Mmmmhmmm. *snap snap snap in a z-formation*

Oh man what a pathetic and useless ending to Alpha. ASM desperately needs a writer with creativity and storytelling. This was like a Marvel Teamup kids comic.
