Anyone here read Ravine?. Sejic kills it on art . And the world created it interesting . Also there is some good back matte that helps to flesh the world out.

Yeah, I liked it a lot. There were portions that were just big information dumps, but it was all useful since he's essentially built an entire fantasy world from scratch. I'm loving some of the character designs. Especially what some of the other races look like.

Can't wait for the next volume. Coming out this summer, is it?

It seems like a no brainer too. Although it might be too many characters to juggle at a time. Arrow is actually doing a decent batman-like show now. Since Ollie doesn't really have much of a supporting cast it can focus on tighter characters.

With a batfamily show you'd have alot of characters that need solid, strong development. Even if you take Bruce out of the equation, you're still left with something like Dick, Barbara, maybe another robin, and maybe another batgirl.
Have you watched the show?
the supporting cast gets bigger and more screentime every week.
Slade,
Shado
, Diggle, Felicity are the best part of the show.

Watching all these DC animated movies makes me so annoyed by how lame Marvel's animated offerings are. Fire everyone involved in these shitshows. Let's get animated Kree Skrull War, Inferno, Messiah Complex etc. Instead of lame shit like Next Avengers and Hulk Vs Thor.

Yeah, Marvel's are quite awful.

ill never understand it. theres lots of good stuff to animate and the best weve gotten so is planet hulk. not that there is anything wrong with seeing irradiated ryu animated, but so much more can be done.

I have no idea why Marvel isn't more up on this. They fucking love events, just turn one into an animated movie or a mini-series or something. I'd watch an AvX movie, not in theaters but if it came on TV I'd watch it. If it was well done I'd buy it. It's like they hate money or something.

Maybe they just can't do it because Disney wants to keep them kid friendly or something.

I mean I wouldn't expect anything of Mask of the Phantasm or Return of the Joker levels
but man they have trouble even matching DC's lowest(New Frontier, Batman Year One, Public Enemies)

I feel like they just need a Bruce Timm like figure in charge of their animated sector, you know, someone who gives a crap. Because right now they just don't. That much is obvious.

It's Craig Kyle's fault. Not content in co-writing shitty X-Force stories, he took his garbage to the small screen by producing and writing the following atrocities.

Doctor Strange
Fantastic Four (2006 animated series)
The Invincible Iron Man
Ultimate Avengers 2
Ultimate Avengers
Hulk Vs (Hulk Vs Wolverine segment only, credited as Story along with Frank Paur for the Hulk Vs Thor segment)
X-Men: Evolution (8 episodes)
Wolverine and the X-Men

Actually X-Men: Evolution was decent. But still. Get better people, Marvel.

I'm feeling nostalgic for X-Men Evo. That shit was intense during the last 2 seasons. I should watch it on Netflix, but I'm currently knee deep in Batman Beyond and Brave & Bold (both amazing shows).

Yeah if you can't get Loeb to care about a comic thatis an ode to his dead son how can you get him to care about animation?

Year One was so creepy looking. Hated the look.

I think they tried to copy the style from the comic but it doesn't really work well animated.

That was good shit, I'm going to hulu it this weekend.

But since most of them aren't existing characters, they're free to do whatever development they want with them.

I think with a bat family-based show everybody has preconceived notions on how dick/barbara/casscain/steph/tim would act and it'd be...disappointing.

I'm not saying I wouldn't watch it though.

3 of those 4 are existing.
and im not even counting Dinah Laurel Lance(Black Canary) or Roy Harper.
and they even have Huntress as a recurring character.

Though I do agree as there are so many different interpretations someone is bound to be disappointed.
Dick and Cass would be the easiest though imo.

Like that concept show?

I know it was probably nothing more than that art but it just seems like a cool concept.

That looks great, is that supposed to be Tim as Robin though?

Oh god, Red Robin... I miss it so much. It needs to be in the next wave of DC books, hopefully with Chris Yost writing.

I personally didn't like Yost's run on Red Robin, nor how he wrote Tim as a more brooding, untrusting, sees the world against him Bruce Wayne.

Really enjoying the "Earth 2" books. Nicola Scott continues to be the Goddess of the splash page and works magic with Dr. Fate.

Worlds Finest was a step up this week. Digging the new art style. The reveal at the end was pretty good and I'm excited to see not only WHY, but how it's going to tie in with Earth 2.

DC would do well to capitalize on the interesting take they've got with the new incarnation of Earth 2; while I admit a fondness for the old JSA, this new take has definitely been solid, and in many ways feels like one of the best uses of the 52 reboot. I'd like to see a few more Earth 2 books.

Planning on reading Planet Hulk, is it worth getting the prelude or should I just jump in?

I personally enjoyed the prelude, but I suggest jumping in straight away.

EDIT: BTW what're the best Batman stories featuring Two-face?
I know about the story in Gotham Central though.

Detective #571 (Dec. 1987 cover date) is a good story where Two-Face fights an imposter Two-Face and has some interesting psychological stuff going on. Awesome Klaus Johnson cover too.

Unfortunately not on Comixology because I checked.

Also Paul Jenkins wrote a miniseries exploring Two Face in detail called Batman: Jekyll & Hyde in 2005 that is also good, although it is pretty grim.

Should I get a West Coast Avengers omnibus for $50? I have never read one page of West Coast Avengers but am in the mood for some 80s stuff from Marvel after reading Deadpool.

Here's what it's got:
WEST COAST AVENGERS (1984) #1-4, IRON MAN ANNUAL #7, AVENGERS (1963) #250, WEST COAST AVENGERS (1985) #1-16, VISION AND THE SCARLET WITCH (1985) #1-2, AVENGERS ANNUAL (1967) #15, WEST COAST AVENGERS ANNUAL #1; and material from AVENGERS (1963) #239, #243-244 and #246, and AVENGERS WEST COAST #100.

This is bothering me, apologies if it's been asked.

Is Carrie Kelley returning because Damian died or did Damian die so Carrie Kelley could return? /tinfoilhats

Any suggestions for good "introductory" super hero comics that I can get on Comixology? I don't have any knowledge of backstory or past events, so this would be a starting point for me. I prefer digital over physical (hence Comixology).

These. I would also recommend "Superman Birthright" and "Batman Year One."

What happened in Millenium? My reading in the 80s was strictly Marvel-centric with a little Batman thrown in now and then.

I've not read a lot of this (mostly the Byrne stuff really) but it's pretty cool. A lot of people don't like that run because Byrne, being Byrne, fucks with the Scarlet Witch/Vision relationship to an inane degree but the early stuff is fondly remembered as far as I know.

There really aren't any Avengers books like this anymore - Uncanny Avengers (and really the latest issue) is the closest.

A bunch of supporting characters including Lana Lang and Commissioner Gordon were revealed to be Manhunter robot sleeper agents bent on conquering the Earth and preventing the Guardians of the Universe and the Zamarons from creating a new team of Guardians.

It was boring, sloppy, had bad art, led nowhere, nobody cared about any of it and the New Guardians were the saddest attempt at creating new characters I remember, at least until Blood Pack.

The crossover before that, Legends, was much much better.

Batgirl Year One is great.
Does anyone else feel that Chuck Dixon is an underrated Bat-series author?

What Pre-Identity Crisis line-wide DC crossover are worth reading? I think I have read all the major ones since then.
