What do you mean "again"? When did we start?

So, finally, I finished Locke & Key. Now I am kinda sad. In that short timespan I grew really fond of/attached to those characters and the world they inhabit. Is there any talk of more L&K? There are so many more stories to be told I guess.

Weeeeell....

With his Walmart work ethic he'll be pumping out 24 strips a day. He'll make more comics in a week than Warren Ellis did in the last six years.

I must've missed that, which is a shame because I'd really like to read Korupt's thoughts on the book, even though I have not read it.

I'm too lazy to go find it. I don't know what you do for a living but basically, I work retail. I work in a Sams Club Optical. Even though it healthcare, it's retail. In retail, the customer is always right even though they are not. So no matter what mood I'm in, I have to wear that happy mask. Even when someone walks up and all I want to say if "what the fuck do you want!?" There is some mischievous little voice that hates everything when I'm at work. Fuck you, fuck that place, fuck everything. That's how you can feel sometimes. At least me, maybe I'm weird, I don't know.

Anyways, that's Batman is ASB&R. Every bad thing that the character can be he is. It was enjoyable to see my favorite character just let it out. It's not Batman, it's nothing he would ever do and something I would never do above. But dammit, I think there would be some level of satisfaction to it.

I know we all like to joke about Batman Odyssey being hilariously batshit insane, but how was First X-Men? Hopefully it's just as crazybad

Got Marvel Unlimited

Started reading Uncanny X-Force

Got through issue #1 before I put it down and never plan on looking at it again

...

...

...until I get the deluxe TPBs that come out next month and beyond. Goddamn that first issue was good. But I am going to have to have physical copies I can ogle the art in.

But now I'm reading A+X on MU. It's not anything amazing but the art is mostly good and I'm having fun with it.

By all means, don't pay for it, but please find a way to read Batman Odyssey. I legitimately want to hear your impressions of it. And in no way am I saying it's good, but I think it's worth reading just to experience.

Yeah the first issue of Uncanny X-Force was seriously amazing. I did want the omnibus but I decided to wait for the Complete Collection since it would be easier to read. So excited!

There are some great stories early on. Adam Warren's is phenomenal.

It would be nice if there was a Windows 8 app for Marvel Unlimited. Oh well, the browser works well enough.

Anyway, going to jump into Runaways since I've been meaning to get into that.

Eternal has been thoroughly enjoyable. My only recommendation would be to avoid the Bertram issue.

You should read the one issue by Tim Seeley and Ian Bertram. The rest is pretty standard and boring.

If so, then you may want to avoid Batman Eternal!

I value all opinions even those that are wrong.

I'm sorry. I internet man-love you bro.

Oh the book is completely bat shit insane, especially with all the underworld stuff and mind boggling inane dialog. However, KoruptData is probably the biggest (or at least most vocal) Bat fan here and I'd love to see his impressions of it. Hell, he found redeeming qualities in the steaming pile that is All-Star Batman.
:( I should post more.

Speaking of the bat. It's summer, the dvr queue is empty so it's time to resurect the Batman TAS marathon with my complete dd box sets. I left it on disc 3 of volume 2. And what episode pops up? Almost got em!

Soo awesome

I enjoyed bendis's guardians vol 1, and I want to learn more about them plus comixology is running a sale on annihilation, does anyone know if its worth it for all the comics in that bundle?

It is a great price but honestly if you just want more Guardians you can just go for Volume 1 by Abnett and Lanning. It's on sale for $4 right now.

Not sure, but it's horrible on Android. I canceled my subscription since it was absolutely worthless.

It's a real shame that a company as prolific as Marvel can't have a fucking better viewer than Comixology (whose viewer I really dig for digital.) Seriously if I paid full price for MU I'd feel disgusted. Android viewer doesn't seem any better but I've yet to try it. I may just end up picking up trades of the stuff that catches me one or two issues in; there's no way I'd spend the month trying to go through it all.

Personally I liked All-Star Batman, it was a more "interesting" take on it all. It flowed and made sense from a narrative structure standpoint. Batman Odyssey is just.......the mad ramblings of a crazy person. There's no structure, no form, no sense of time, nothing. Characters just appear and disappear at random. It's like if Batman went insane and was actually in a straight jacket in Arkham and this is what was going on in his brain.

Rafa, if you have a Surface, why not start drawing on that rather than dropping $$$ on a drawing tablet? In fact, I remember reading that they used Wacom tech in the Surface. I always found it easier drawing directly on a screen rather than having to look up at one while drawing on a blank surface.

... but yeah, what else is new, everyone? Yesterday (7/27) was my 30th birthday, which is terrifying. My landlord / best friend / roommate / ex-fiancee made me cupcakes from scratch with Hellboy's face on them, but I forgot to take pictures of them. Maybe I'll do that after work so you guys can see.

Haha. That is awesome! Happy birthday!

Nothing's new with me, though. Just sitting in my house with no AC and no fan struggling through this awful heat wave. Haha. That was the one positive of working during the day instead of working mornings... At least I had air conditioning at work during these heat waves.
And tomorrow Doom Patrol comes out, so I'm really looking forward to ordering that and the first Hellboy library edition!

Morrison talks Multiversity

During Comic Con International in San Diego, superstar comics writer Grant Morrison admitted that his August-debuting miniseries Multiversity is really going to "f*ck people up."

"It plays into stuff I'm interested in," Morrison said during the Multiversity panel in San Diego, "breaking down the barriers of what's real and what's not. We developed this hypnotic induction technique to really f*ck people up. It has mental effects and psychic effects that I think are quite bizarre."

Perhaps the most important thing to note the graphic depiction of the Multiverse is that DC Group Editor Eddie Berganza said he'll be using Morrison's map to guide the storytelling directions of other creators in the future.

So this isn't just a one-time thing

In a straight line from Apokolips is Earth-6, which Morrison said is the Stan Lee "Just Imagine" Universe, and the writer told the audience in San Diego that Stan Lee's world lies directly opposite the Jack Kirby Universe (presumably, Earth 51, the highest numbered Earth, which lies in the same line as New Genesis).

The first character to defend against the threat will be Nix Uotan, whom readers last saw in Morrison's 2008 miniseries Final Crisis. The character is the last of the Monitors, Morrison said, and he's "set in place to protect the Multiverse," so he's "kind of my author's character."

"Because what we’ve done also is, we’ve not only got all the multiverse versions of DC characters, but we also have multiverse versions of every other comic book company in existence. So we have multiverse versions of Image characters and Marvel characters… you know back in the day, DC would do their own kind of take on The Avengers where they would do those heroes from “that other place” with a Thor who was kind of an Aboriginal Thor. So we’ve kind of taken that aspect, the stuff that DC and Marvel used to do, the Squadron Supreme type stuff, and I’ve kind of done an update on that thinking as well. So yeah, it’s got everything. It’s got multiple versions of everybody, including us."

Readers may be looking for signs that Morrison's book is connected to the expected April 2015 event that will presumably be tied to the 30th anniversary of Crisis on Infinite Earths, but Morrison specifically said "these characters aren’t cannon fodder for the next crisis."

Happy belated Birthday!

BTW, I so want that Doom Patrol Omnibus...

How many issues is Multiversity going to be? I am reading Morrison's Batman for the first time (currently, I'm working my way through Batman RIP) and I say give him as many damn issues as he pleases. I feel shame for having waited so long to read this stuff... it's beautifully absurd and I can't get enough.

Has a higher quality version of "The Map of the Multiverse" been released yet? I really want to read all that tiny text on the right and left sides of the diagram.

I think there's going to be what 6 or 7 Multiversity issues, and one of them is going to be a Multiverse bible that shows you where each Earth is in relation to the others and such.

Nine total issues including the guide book.

I don't think a high resolution version of the map is out yet.

Very nice! That's such a great run.

What's the best way to host pictures?

Imgur is good for a quick and easy upload, but if you're going for really high quality/lossless, Minus is the way to go.

There are ten Multiversity issues, 40 pages each. Two bookends ala Seven Soldiers

7 alternate world issues:

-Pulp adventure world where Doc Fate, Abin Sur, the Mighty Atom and Lady Blackhawk fight nazi zombies, drawn by Chris Sprouse

-The Just, Earth-16 full of teenage superheroes where Batman and Superman have defeated all the bad guys, leaving the children to be gossipy, shallow "The Hills" types. Ben Oliver draws that one.

-Pax Americana, uses the storytelling devices of Watchmen(8 panel grid instead of 9, natch) with the original Charlton characters. Frank Quitely has been drawing this mothafucka for about half a decade now.

-Flashworld, Morrison's definitive All-Star Superman/Pixar-esque take on the Marvel family. Cameron Stewart on art duties.

-A guidebook that goes into detail over what all the 52 worlds are, minus the 7 unknown ones. I think there's a framing device with Batman and Kamandi

-Nazi world, where Hitler won thanks to Superman, who one day realizes "fuck me, I'm working for Hitler!" Leads the revolt alongside the Freedom Fighters led by Uncle Sam, the last remnant of America that was conquered in 1956. Big Game of Thrones kind of story

-He hasn't mentioned it since 2011, but there's supposed to be a Kirby-verse world

-Ultra Comics, takes place in "our world". In a neat bit of meta-fiction, Ultra will not only tell the tale of the haunted comic book, but actually be that comic book itself. Morrison described it as, "the scariest thing I've ever written. It plays into stuff I'm interested in, breaking down the barriers of what's real and what's not. We developed this hypnotic induction technique to really fuck people up. It has mental effects and psychic effects that I think are quite bizarre. "

Totally justified rant. I also paid full price and will never subscribe to them again...UNLESS they contract out their page viewer to the Comixology folks. As it stands, it's terrible.

My app crashed every single issue I try to read. Every. Single. Issue. And reading the stuff on the computer is serviceable, but it isn't why I picked up the subscription in the first place.

I'm sticking to Comixology, especially with their new DRM-free stuff. So good.

They're doing something different with Unlimited. I think eventually it'll have more functionality but they have decades of content to deal with. Their normal app is already GuidedView/Comixology.

It doesn't seem as efficient as Comixology's guided view, though. That's just my impression. I would hope they have plans to improve it; and the content isn't the issue.

Unlimited is not Guided View, but their normal store app is. I know that doesn't help, but it shows that they're not unaware of what else is going on.

Their plans to improve it include linking issues by editor notes. Where it says "for more on this see ASM #469" or whatever. You tap it, it takes you to that issue. Things like that are just a higher priority to them. They have been doing steady work fixing bugs and improving it since it went 2.0 in March.

That second part would be stellar. I was using the beta viewer and I'm pretty sure there is a guided view. Looking at it now it's called "Smart Panels". Guess it could be considered different.

I'm just saying it needs a lot of improvements before I'd consider investing monthly into the service.
