More books, more thoughts!

Cyborg Superman: I continue to dig the new version of this character. Don't get me wrong, I love the old one too, but as a reinterpretation, this has been handled exceptionally well. This is how to 52 a character. His role as
Brainiac's herald
is also fitting.

Ventriloquist: Masterful. Simone has been on a roll with her effed up characters lately. The decision to make Ventriloquist a
telekinetic
without overtly stating it is a great choice. Also, the terrible, amazing jokes by Ferdie, her puppet.

Marv Wolfman to be taking over Superboy as of #26 (December issue). Complete the transition and give him Teen Titans as well, DC.

Also, Tony Bedard on Supergirl as of #26. He did New Guardians and in the past, Supergirl and the Legion of Superheroes towards the end. Could be interesting.

This...might actually make me try Superboy. How's Wolfman's writing, these days?

Don't think he has done anything for the Big 2 recently, so I couldn't tell you on, but he is pretty God tier on most the stuff he does.

More books,

Desaad: Not the most interesting title. It is more of a recap than anything, filling in a fee blanks, but doesn't move the story forward. One thing I didn't understand,
The artist near the end, who is that? Kyle?

Count Vertigo: Amazing issue. Some back story on the character that is actually interesting. Highlights just how ruthless a man Vertigo is, and the depths he will go to "tidy things up". Sorrentino continues to kill it on the art side.

Most people think it's Kirby

So meta.

Only way to get more meta would be,
to have that happen on the Earth Prime of Superboy Prime where comics reflect the reality of the DCU.

Bedard is such a plain writer, wonder what happened to Michael Ian Nelson. Brah is an actual storyteller, so he is not one to air his dirty laundry or make a big deal out nothing like Haden Black. Wolfman is a relic of the 70's and 80's. great stories though. Lobdell had it for about five to seven issues for each New 52 book he did but hasnt had it since. Its a disgrace that they write out another interesting new character. Solstice is on the clock.

This is my worst fear as I just started ordering from them. Hope everything works out bro.

Day 3: Waiting to hear back from dcbs who i emailed about not receiving my recent monthly shipment, and for Fedex to check with the driver about the "delivery". I'm hoping dcbs comes through for me, especially since their faq says they insure shipments.

DiDio has also announced that Marc Andreyko is the new writer of Batwoman starting with issue 25, with a new storyline as part of the Batman universe and a Zero Year issue.

The writer of the Manhunter series taking over.

Snippets from Dan Didio's speech: Basically, they don't want members of the Bat Family to be happy. The put on a cape and cowl and their personal lives should suffer because of it.

That might be good for Batwoman, yeah? I wonder how many of y'all will give the series another go when Marc Andreyko jumps aboard?

I'm watching The Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon and, wow, The Shocker is a very different character here than in Superior Foes of Spider-Man.

To be honest, it's more at this point that we know how pretty much everything is going to go. They've dictated, publically, what can and can't be written about. Of course this happens literally everywhere behind closed doors, but it's like watching the 6th Sense after somebody has spoiled the ending. It may be still be a decent movie, but if you know how it ends...eh.

I don't think I've read (or haven't been really aware of) Andreyko, so his inclusion doesn't really do much for me.

So its important to establish their personal lives, but then they have to set them aside. And that heroes shouldn’t get married.

Um. No thank you.

I thought it was very cool that Batwoman wasn't part of any crossovers. That probably had a lot to do with JH but now that he's gone the editors have total freedom over the title.

As I said in the other thread, this is two issues earlier than JHW3 and Blackman had planned to be off the book, so this is apparently retaliation on DiDio's part for publicly criticizing DC editorial.

Send a message AND get in on Zero Year, win win. If DC really wanted to make a point of it, they'd kill off Maggie in the first issue after zero year is done.

Though since i have no comics it does not matter to me anyways.

They are losing one issue (#26 to #25) not two. And it's more likely for it to fall in November for Zero Year than anything else.

So, Batwoman's been completely overrided by the editors, event shoehorning and all. Not only that, but Williams and Blackman most likely won't even get to finish their run properly now, thanks to Didio's shenanigans. Yay.

Some of the replacements to titles have been with writers that I'm actually really excited about; As much as I was enjoying Earth 2, by Robinson, I'm really, really excited to see what Tom Taylor is going to do. That man has absolutely been killing it in Injustice Gods Among Us; He has turned a video game comic tie in, into one of the best comics in DCs lineup and a consistent top digital and hard copy seller.

The new writer is the one who did the Manhunter series, which was very good as well, so it'll be interesting to see what he can do with it.

Need to know who the artist is too. JH was the soul of that book.

Also, Sorrentino got to draw Batman in GA#25. Cant wait to see that.

he was in that I Vampire crossover he drew with Justice League Dark a little bit

ugh that's Batman's gimmick. Nightwing and Batgirl (and Batwoman)would be fine without that.

Why can't she get married and then still deal with the difficulties of leading a nightlife as Batwoman? Why does all of the Bat family need to have the exact same personal troubles on the romantic front? Shake it up, let one of them deal with the problems within a different status quo.

because why have one batman when you can have multiple versions of the same fucked up character.

What does it matter who they hire as replacements when their current creators aren't even allowed to finish their stories?

Especially when the whole point of her character is to be a challenge to the status quo. Seems like they just want to turn her into Batgirl v2. Maybe at some point they decide she's bisexual instead of gay too. Ugh this road ends off the edge of a cliff.

i'm reminded of when Gillen came on to replace JMS on one of my favorite books, Thor, because JMS didn't want to do Siege stuff. Some people liked what Gillen did but i didn't like any of it until he actually did his own book, Journey into Mystery. Gillen trying to conclude JMS' Thor was just workmanlike to me, he got the job done in a way that wasn't offensive but had no excitement at all. Now DC is handing the book off to ____________ to do Zero Year tie-ins? Am i supposed to look at this like ___________ had some amazing pitch and is going to tell the story he wants, or is this just a job that he'll probably leave in 3 issues? Oh sure, DC says he's going to start an arc, lemme know how Diggle's run on Action Comics is doing.

Wow, fuck DiDio. I really, really, really want him gone from DC forever.

The Batwoman situation is a mess, but Andrekyo is fantastic. His Manhunter run was one of my favorites ever. He's gay and really writes great female characters-- an excellent fit for the title. If only the transition had been handled in a more graceful way.

Really, now? Granted, I'm extremely tempted to just cut my ties while I still can, but admittedly, I'd feel bad if I don't at least give a new creative team a chance. I could read over Manhunter first and see where I stand.

Absolutely!

He created the character Kate Spencer to be the new Manhunter a while ago. She was a chain smoking, divorced, angry, often insecure, very dry and funny woman who was a lawyer by day and worked closely with a gay male lawyer. Andreyko got DC to greenlight making the character Obsidian (the original Green Lantern's son) gay and then used him as the lawyer character's boyfriend and Manhunter's friend and crime fighting partner.

Andreyko is really underused and I'm thrilled that if the Batwoman team has to change that he'll be part of it.

That's how marriages work right? And Royal Bloodlines? Arthur gonna harem this bitch up.

Can't wait for Animal Man to be explained away. "Their marriage was annulled, because they never actually had sex. The kids were adopted."

Edit: I'm beginning to suspect the real reason Legion of Super Heroes was canceled was because of Saturn Girl / Lightning Lad's marriage.

I'm watching The Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon and, wow, The Shocker is a very different character here than in Superior Foes of Spider-Man.

Probably because in the comics, Peter made a habit of coming close to killing him a couple of times. After he snapped his arm and almost blew his head off, he seems to be a lot more subdued.
