Coming to Game Pass: Metaphor ReFantazio, The Division 2, Tales of Kenzera: Zau, and More

The only people who don't have gamepass are either paid shills or people who don't like games.

A couple good quotes from the purple club:

Not been giving M$ money for obvious reasons. Might donate the same amount to appropriate charity and marathon some games.
Great idea, and thank you for bringing that up. It's a great month, and I didn't even realize Monster Train 2 was coming out. But I will not be supporting Xbox while they're participating in genocide.

So a turn-based RPG is a JRPG? Pray tell, what makes it a JRPG?

JRPGs are role-playing games that are made in Japan or made in another country but have common traits found in JRPGs. These common traits include anime/manga character designs, RPG elements, fantasy setting, and being inspired or influenced by a JRPG. JRPGs are recognizable by their turn-based battle systems, anime-style visuals, and story and character development emphasis. These games also often feature a party system, where the player controls a group of characters who work together to achieve their goals.

It's so weird because I love physical media and if I can't have a game physically I prefer it purchased and tied to my account etc... but holy shit with game prices on the rises and so many releases, Gamepass is such a stupidly good value proposition even more so since I'm in my final year of using the LIVE conversion.

I would have wanted to have bought Doom, Clare Obscur, Metaphor, Ninja Gaiden 2 etc but here they are part of the subscription. Massive W this year.

Avowed to Clair Obscure to Doom to Metaphor, in a few months. And I still just use microsoft points to pay for Game Pass. Havent spend a dime on it.

It almost feels wrong.

Don't forget South of Midnight, Blue Prince, and Oblivion Remastered. I'm also really looking forward to Monster Train 2. It's been absolutely crazy these last few months. I find it hard to understand why anyone who owns a gaming capable PC wouldn't sub to PC Game Pass.

I think you're too hung up on semantics. It's not that serious, but I (and most others) consider Expedition 33 within the JRPG genre.
It's not a JRPG in feel or tone or visuals. A JRPG is simply an RPG with anime/manga aesthetics and atmosphere. That's it. That's why no one calls Souls games JRPGs. That's why everyone calls Sea of Stars a JRPG.

It's not semantics. Clair Obscur doesn't even do the most basic thing for a JRPG, which is looking like one. So nah, not a JRPG.

Games like RE: Fantazio and Clair Obscure deserve to be bought and owned. I still consider buying games a "sacred" decision, so I don't rely on GamePass, and never will.

I am kind of surprised Metaphor has hit this list and Shin Megmai Tensei V hasn't. I need to try and get back into Metaphor, I usually get time to play games later at night and as much as I love playing Metaphor, the game makes me extremely drowsy and as a consequence I can just never progress very far into the game.

- dont want M$ as middleman to play a game
- dont want to be "on a clock" when playing a game (really hate that shit)
- if I buy, I support the devs/game directly, not M$
- less trouble with mods and stuff
- fuck subscriptions in general :messenger_winking_tongue:

I'll gladly buy Clair Obscur when physical copies for the PS5 are back in stock and not scalped to the high heavens. Until then, I'm thankful Game Pass gave me the means to play it.

As for Metaphor, the demo intrigued me but not enough to buy it at launch. Adding it to GP will let me try it beyond where the demo concluded so I can decide whether I want to buy it outright or not.

But gamepass is bad for the industry!! 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

🤣

Get used to it; GamePass is here to stay and we will all benefit.

If it was so bad for the industry, publishers wouldn't be putting games on it.

It's probably part of a deal Atlus signed with Microsoft (Metaphor was receiving extra attention on Microsoft showcases and wasn't being showed up anywhere else prior to release).

Perfectly reasonable but the shills won't hear it. It's God greatest gift to gaming!

Xbox has been pretty dang amazing with all these releases as of late.

Is Division 2 worth playing so late in it's life? I've been kind of interested in it for a while now but it seems like it's far too late to jump in

I played a lot of the first game and bought the sequel near launch, I preferred the first one and haven't played either in literally years (I'm surprised the Division 3 isn't out by now) but it's still worth a look, imo. There'll likely be an influx of noobs to party up with when it goes to gamepass.

How long is Metaphor?

After Expedition 33, I don't think I can do the 100 hour RPG slogs anymore.

It's also a long game, around the same timeframe.

It's probably minimum 1 year, possibly 2 or more ala Persona 3 Reload, so you have a lot of time. Don't play two long games back to back, it's gonna burn you out.
