  • Concord’s beta was released today but failed to generate any buzz in the industry.
  • On Steam, it had just over 1000 concurrent players.
  • Over on social media, reactions range from negative to middling, with most people not being too impressed.
On Steam, the game has peaked at less than 1000 concurrent players. PlayStation players need a PS Plus subscription to play the beta, but accessing the beta on PC requires pre-ordering.

Nonetheless, the current beta does not seem to be doing too well. Only 372 users are currently playing this game, which is disappointing even for Concord. The beta was released 14 hours ago, and the all-time peak sits at a mere 1124 players.

Wasn’t it only available to pre orders?

You can pay 40 bucks now to play the game now. You're going to have to pay 40 bucks to play the game when it launches either way. You can of course just refund if you don't like it. Will a free beta move the needle two or three orders of magnitude in player count? Seems doubtful.

That's correct for Steam this weekend is the beta for PC preorders. On PS5, it's this weekend for preorders and people who are PS+ Subscribers. Next weekend is open beta on both platforms which will interesting to see the Steam numbers.

I thought this game looked like shit but actually played it cause of PS+ and now I'll probably pick it up. Looking forward to trying it on the PC next weekend.

Concord at #80 on the top sellers list and the Last Descendant sitting at #1. Go woke go broke. Shame because the game itself seems perfectly competent and probably would’ve done just fine if they didn’t make the most “for modern audiences” game ever.
It’s kinda sad. Go woke go broke indeed.

Remember when Overwatch was revealed? All the characters looked so cool and different. Everyone was excited to try them all out. Dorks were simping for D-VA and the other waifus. It captured our imagination.

Seeing Concord’s cast was like “what… the fuck is that… oh god she’s even worse… they seriously put fucking gender pronouns in the character select screen?”

If they had just created characters that people found attractive and wanted to play as, and the trailer wasn’t some cringe “we have Guardians of the Galaxy at Home” that felt like it was chasing trends that got stale years ago, I think this could’ve been a hit.

Wonder if they’ll learn their lesson this time.
