Conker XBOX screens

uh, isn't it obvious by now that they are working on stuff for xbox2?

Who gives a crap what they're doing on Xbox 2? A developer is only as good as the games it can get out the door. It's been just under three whole years since Microsoft closed the deal on Rare, and to this day they've barely got one game to show for their investment. Sorry, but to me that's a waste of money. Even Oddworld Inhabitants has already released a second game on Xbox.

And who can tell what will happen with Perfect Dark Zero? EA single-handedly destroyed its propects for any mainstreamers who still loosely associate their N64 GoldenEye experiences with Perfect Dark!

and you must get really vehement when talking about R&C: up your arsenal

Never played it, couldn't be arsed. I try to avoid playing games starring anthropomorphic animal avatars where I can.

Conker rocks, and those who haven't played it are in for a treat, but good god I wish the old forum was still up so I could search and find out which of you were hardballing people for looking forward to the Resident Evil Remake.
me too... me too.

Could you imagine the Balrog scene from LOTR in the sequel on Xenon with this godlike team behind it? How good would that look?

Ok, I'm done. Back to amazing this gen graphics...pff...

You mean the sequel on Xbox 3 right?

Don't you guys get tired of the Rare games taking ages to come out jokes? No? Well, could you try to be a bit more inventive, or should we start adding "Can't wait to play it in 2009!" and "Going to be an awesome Xbox 3 launch title" to the end of each Rare game topic first post to save time?

I can't believe the amount of ppl that have yet to play this game before (N64 version). Unbelievable! It was such a perfect game to finish off the N64 era with. The ending is just a great homage to a certain game..

It was really refreshing playing this game after all of Rare's collect-a-thon platformers. It' just pure action and platforming with great variety of scenarios and movie spoofs.

Sweet something of.... some place. Do we really need a new generation of consoles? I have a feeling the (visual) difference wont be that impressive.

haha, ridiculous.

This game looks fantastic. Plus, the multiplayer Live will be a big break from Halo 2, atleast until UC2 comes out.

It's a very nice looking game. I guess I'll give it a shot...

I tried to play some of the original on N64, but the framerate was just too low for me.

the single player in this game was extremly amusing.

the multi player capture the flag had us entertained for hours.

if they tweaked it right for xbox live then it will be a blast and a must have for all live users.

I just wished Rare would have made something from scratch that really pushed the Xbox. I'm still not convinced that even Bungie has squeezed out everything out of the Xbox.

Even though I can understand why a lot of people are saying purchasing Rare was a waste of money, I don't agree. They're really the only exclusive developer MS has that has the talent to push the technical capabilities of a system AND that fuzzy, colorfull, unique makes-you-all-warm-inside art style topped off with great gameplay.

I don't think there is much of the N64 Conker in the Xbox version of the game except for some the sound & voices. The graphics engine is 100% new, and looks darn impressive to me.

Well that might be true, but I can still see a lot of things in there tha remind of the 64's graphics. You know how nowadays, characters are first created out of millions of polygons and then scaled down and textured for the in-game version? Well this game is kind of like the opposite of that. It's still based on the graphics that were created due to the limitations of the N64.

Yeah, but it's still going beyond most XBOX games...

I agree. That's why I'm saying it's a shame Rare won't have the time they need to do something totally from scratch before the Xbox is put down. Awe well, hopefully they'll get their chance next generation.

I wonder if Rare is using assets from the GC/Xbox iteration of Perfect Dark in the Xbox 2 game. Hopefully as soon as they knew it was going to be for next-gen they just scrapped everything and started over.

As far as I know, Perfect Dark (Zero ?) has been a next gen title since Q2/Q3 2003. I doubt a lot of assets from a previous Xbox build, if any, are still in use. I don't know anything about this game, but I'm quite sure it will be amazing graphically.

I played the demo, and can add that the fur looks cool! This game has great graphics. I wish I could understand what he's saying though. :lol

My sister loved the N64 game... I did not.

I really hope they do more than update the graphics in the single player. The N64 game did a little of everything, but nothing really well... but it had its moments The gameplay is a bit akward, especially jumping, there was a slight delay between when you pressed button and Conker's actual responded.

The humor is very crude. If you don't love that kind of stuff, it'll get tiresome quickly. Hopefully they update their parodies, too. They were dated in the first game; 4 years later won't help.

you'll be happy to know the controls are as responsive as can be in the xbox demo

Are you guys up in the arms about how much money Microsoft paid for Microsoft stock holders or something? Who cares? Microsoft is in this business for the long haul. They'll make their money whenever they make it if not then it won't be the first investment that didn't pan out.

that one poster was ("who cares about xbox2 development?" :lol), almost all of the comments in here have been positive :)

I thought the N64 game was pretty fun, but I'm not sure how it will hold up to a second playthrough. I'll probably just rent this unless the multiplayer is highly improved (I didn't like the multiplayer in the original.. but maybe larger player counts would help).

Dude, you're pretty naive if you can't appreciate that Rare's value and credibility as a developer goes down when it can't put quality games out. This is one of the reasons Microsoft was so quick (and quiet) in washing its hands of Oddworld Inhabitants.

Of course I care about what's being developed for Xbox 2, but right now I think that's the least of Rare's problems. Their immediate problem right now is convincing MGS that they will draw a sufficient return on investment because, as of this moment, as far as MGS is concerned, Rare's scorecard currently reads:

"1 title, bombed".

My problem with Rare is that they're arrogant to the extreme, holding themselves up as precious prisses like Valve and iD. I can appreciate those two companies behaving like that - they've got quality product to show for it. And Rare? They've got Grabbed By The Ghoulies, a game that failed miserably for all intents and purposes on both an academic and commercial level.

Now, with Conker, you've played the demo and some of us have played alpha and beta builds of the game already; and I don't disagree that it plays very, very well even as it is in supposedly incomplete form. They should release it NOW. They should've released it last year. Let's get one very simple thing in perspective here - they're not exactly releasing a system seller, so there's a point where the months of delays for tweakages won't make much of a difference to their bottom line. The sooner they push it out the door the better.

It's not exactly up to Rare when Conker comes out, is it?

Conker was an excellent game that was under appreciated on the N64. I would buy an Xbox just for this game. As for Rare getting quality titles out fast, well, they were never really that quick to pump out titles in the first place (Perfect Dark took forever to be released). Microsoft knew this when they bought them and who knows? Perfect Dark Zero could be an Xbox 2 launch title (since a new Halo is unlikely).

Well, if I were in Microsoft's position, I wouldn't be wanting to delay the release of Conker at all. There are some people who give a wide berth to the sanctity of quality game development and just as many people who are keeping score of how much they've spent on a developer that's spent the better part of three years producing a single turd. If I had to hazard a guess, any suggestions of delaying the release have been instigated by Rare.

I mean, Microsoft basically never had a post-Halo 2 plan. If you've worked with them, you'd know. Their PR and marketing literally didn't contemplate life after Halo 2. And now that it's over and everyone's a bit "meh" about the ending, they're busily scrambling to identify their next must-have. Forza? Please - the last thing I need right now is another 30fps racer...

I popped in the old demo disc and tried it out again and I still wasn't impressed. Yeah the graphics are nice and I like Conker's lines during the gameplay but jumping over the lasers was a total pain in the ass and running around and shooting wasn't as fun as it should be. I'll rent it for the live gameplay.
