Control Resonant Announced | The Game Awards 2025

I preferred having guns and shooting rather than melee but it looks quite good in any case. Looking forward to play this

Still watching the game awards recording but this is my game of the show 2/3rds of the way in.

Incredible art direction. Very excited to play this.

It was predictable that Dylan would be a playable character in a follow up and in fact I think I did predict it. Sam Lake loves his Jungian dualism and while I think that's mostly hokum it isn't totally random and has a pattern.

What I liked about Control is how the office setting kept the behind-closed-doors CIA scifi fantasy stuff somehow grounded. This sequel is too wild for me, like Alice in Wonderland, it doesn't feel believable anymore.

There's a Steam page, looks like they want our money this time.
Tagged as an Action RPG, quite the departure from the first game. But on the other hand I like sequels that take the concept in another direction, like Aliens & Predator 2.

Wishlisted.

Have high hopes for this one, even if I'm a bit miffed that it isn't a direct continuation or prequel to the first Control with the same mechanics. Loved the gunplay and general combat in that.

New protagonist and melee combat, I'm in.

Looking forward to what they come up with the weird and wacky powers. OST is killing it as well.

I admire Remedy's balls to completely change genre's for each game. They're not just coasting on making the same thing but 'prettier'.

Control, Alan Wake 2 and now Control Resonance are all completely different playing kinds of games from each other.
Agree. Remedy is pure class.
Their games are some of the best pieces of art in the world of video games. That's probably why they will never be among the top sellers, and I hope they never change.

Note that it's not just melee combat.

They're labeling it as a proper Action RPG. A first for Remedy.

I mean, it's a sequel as much as Miles Morales was, but we're still getting Control 2.
But this is Control 2. This is the game that they announced was in development a few years back. I highly doubt there is another one right now, they've even referred to it as the sequel to Control.

I'm pretty sure the Jesse Control is also being in development. I mean we had a DLC with her in AW2 that tied some things. No way they cancelled it and it makes no sense to change the genre of the franchise suddenly. Even the trailer clearly states she's gone rogue and this is just an off adventure. I am 100% the actual sequel to Control is also coming unless they're making Jesse the main face of Alan Wake 3. As much as I prefer a male protag, it would be fucking idiotic to drop her from the sequel.

Well, we know this is 100% Dylan's story according to what they've said. Maybe Jesse's storyline continues within this to some degree and with expansions? I don't know. I'm not sure how they tied things together in AW2's DLC, I haven't played it yet. I just don't see how they would feasibly have 2 mainline narrative Control games in development along with Max Payne. Either way, I don't think it will be a compromised experience in terms of scope and game design, and if you're correct and there is another Control game in development, I'm all for it!

Yeah at the end of the day Im most likely day one with this as well, but still feels odd to alienate your fanbase, Remedy's fanbase of third person shooters with a dmc or souls-like game all of a sudden. I wont say no to them trying new things, but it's like making Alan Wake a farming simulator all of a sudden. Guess we will see.

Probably my 'Game of the Show', looks so damn good. New PS BLOG post with info:

"open ended action RPG"
"explore the city"
"tackle events in any order"
"biggest game we have ever made"

So many bangers coming in 2026, this is now in my top 5 most anticipated 👌

Bruh what's with all the reservation with melee combat? Do you all just play shooters or something? God forbid there aren't any guns in the game.
I like plenty of melee combat games. I even liked combat in KCD2!

But I want some guns and telekinesis from a sci-fi game that is Control sequel. This ain't Oblivion or KCD or Witcher. Look at Cyberpunk, there are plenty of melee options but also guns.

Again a trailer with fake cinematic bars, causing to show bars all around the image on a 21:9 screen. I don't know why they don't capture and render it in 21:9 so it fills these displays perfectly. 16:9 users still get the cinematic look because the player keeps the aspect ratio and adds bars top and bottom automatically.

I think you're underestimating the fan base.

After concluding the game awards I can safely say this is the only new thing that looked very exciting that I would want to play day one.
