CONTROL Ultimate Edition next update will include HDR, VRR, 120 Hz, unlocked frame rate and PS5 Pro support.

According to several Remedy employees Control next update for consoles will include the promised HDR support that is already available on PC, but also 120 Hz, VRR, unlocked frame rate in both performance and RT mode and PS5 Pro support, which is a bit surprising for a 5 year-old game. I'm glad to see Remedy keeps supporting their game.

The patch should be out at any moment now. I'm fact they say it'll be released "in two weeks"... exactly two weeks ago. 🙄

They added a 40 FPS mode to Alan Wake 2, but only on the pro, I hope they add a 40 FPS mode here across the board and also bring the Alan Wake 40fps patch to base consoles too .

Love Control, glad to see they're still supporting it after 5 years.

Neither of them mentioned a 40 fps mode, unfortunately. But they did mention unlocked frame rate for both modes so if you have an VRR/120Hz compatible display RT mode should be well above 40 fps most of the time, especially on Series X and probably PS5 Pro. I'm curious to see what they mean by "PS5 Pro support", since it could be anything really. Higher resolution, better performance, PSSR, new RT effects used on PC but not present on other consoles... We'll have to wait a little longer.

For the studios that use the same engine for their new games, it makes sense to work on such updates on their old games.

They gain know how, community points for the free support and useful feedback for their implementation. Then, when the time comes for the new title to release it can have all the goodies from the beginning.

Of course they announced this after it's no longer $3.99 on PSN...i knew i should've bought it, but i already had beaten it

edit: also, ewww i fucking hate that anyone in development openly posts on that shit site.

Nice, and I hope that they bring support for the PSSR successor across both Control UE and Alan Wake II once it comes out sometime next year, since the current iteration has proven problematic on Alan Wake.

A PS5 Pro version of Alan Wake Remastered would also be nice to see.

so unlocked quality mode? took em long enough. the Series X holds close to 50fps in the RT mode going by the photo mode (which is unlocked).

the Xbox version should have had an unlocked mode from the start. it already has a built in 120hz mode

what kind of style do you call the way Control plays. Like yea its a shooting thing, but just the exploration style.

Metroidvania-lite? maybe?

it has metroidvania elements, as you get new abilities that let you go to new places. but does it very very sparsely, and there's no real focus on it.

Incredibly underrated game. I played this on PS4 a couple years back. I would gladly play through it again with a Pro update.

Control is Remedy's best game, so it makes sense to give it periodic boosts for attention until the sequel comes out. Looking forward to see what they do for PS5 Pro.

I was never interested in it, but I did put it in my PS+ library when it became a "free" monthly game. If this takes advantage of the PS5 Pro, I might give it a look.

Or maybe they have to use a similar graphic setting of the perfomance mode to reach steady 40 fps on base console so it's practically pointless? I won't exclude it.

You're right, I remember when Control first came out, DF ran some tests with the photo mode in the "Graphics" settings which, for some reason, unlocks the frame rate.

If this is an indication, both consoles should be above 40, but a toggle for 40 would be appreciated so it locks.

Anything above 40 would be under VRR on the SX version so it's acceptable, I guess.

Nice, would be a pretty good indicator to see how the RT uplift with the PS5 Pro is over the regular PS5 since FPS will be unlocked and no DRS to complicate things.

it could be, but they already mentioned problems with old stuff/tools and new SDK, so I'm not sure. Interesting nonetheless

Is the game scary? I'm not the biggest fan of scary games.

It's not scary. It's like a metroidvania, there's some areas with minor horror themes but your character is never presented like a survival horror protagonist, you're always the most powerful thing in any area.

There's a fantastic sense of mystery and intrigue in the game. That's what I loved about it.

I mean i loved Quantum Break so this might be right up my alley.
