Spain, you're still a mediocre team, 5 years don't mean shit. Hope this teaches you a lesson, you're not "the new Brazil" looool

This was nuts.

lolololololol

One of the better teams in the whole history, just by the numbers.

Lol, no, just no.

The spanish team is good, and better than the current Brazilian team, but one of the best teams in history? No way. They have no place even in the top 10.

As I said the spanish team is good, but frankly most the rest of the traditional national teams have been really, really bad these last few years. Brazil chief among then.

They introduced a new style of football which was hard to deal with. Now teams are adjusting and Spain's weaknesses are becoming much more apparent. Spain are a very strong side, but they aren't anything close to what the numbers suggest.

Yeah two consecutive European championships and one World Cup aren't that impressive. On top of that, it hasn't even been close in most of the matches - Spain has mostly steamrolled all tournaments the last 4-5 years. I think I read they haven't conceded a single goal after group play in a major championship since WC -06. If that isn't impressive then I don't know what is.

They didn't steamroll the World Cup. They were lucky they made it to the Final. And Euro football has been shit lately.

That's a fucking laughable claim. This team was legendary even if they go out in groups in 2014.

You're not really dismissing my point there. I didn't say their team was bad.

Great match tonight. Surprising in many ways.

But I'm a little worried that this victory will steal thunder from the protests. Let's hope that our people do not forget what really matters.

Legendary? Not in my book. I can think of dozens of national teams that were better than they are.

As I said the spanish team was good and took advantage of a lot of other national teams weakness. No one was playing at their level these last few years but not because they are legendary, it was because the others have been really shitty. Germany, Italy and even Brazil have been renovating their teams over these last few years.

The point I was dismissing was that the Spanish team isn't top10 through history, which I think they definitely are.

Well, we'll just have to agree to disagree.

That said I still think Spain is the favorite team next year in the world cup, and I think that a loss right now may help to strengthen then and help then resolve their weaknesses. Del Bosque is a great coach IMO.

They're the ugly duckling in Europe, so they try to mess with America, even if we don't really care about them lol

What the fuck are you talking about??? Have you ever been to Spain? Best european country period. I love Spain. Stop embarrassing yourself.

I love Portugal too, but I wish we were colonized by Spain instead.

WTF? Are you serious? Just wow. I don't understand how can one just kneel n submit to another countries monarch.

That worked out great for Galicia, now didn't it? In terms of significance

Well it might be beautiful, but Spaniards do receive a little hate from the rest of the continent.

Kind of a dumb comment since you would have been just another Spanish speaking country if things happened differently. But this is all moot, since if Spain had colonized you instead, Brazil would have never existed as we know it today. The royal Portuguese family living in Brazil is what kept all the Brazilian states united.

You wouldn't have feijoada either brah. Be careful what you wish for ;)

Iberian Union happened in the past for a duration of 60 years, and in those 60 years the economy was centralized towards Madrid while Portugal to okthe shaft from transfer of powers weakening Lisbon.

Thankfully after those 60 years, Portugal regained independence (Restoration) and made a come back to normal.

A new Iberian Unification would just render Portugal as insignificant as Galicia.

Well, in an ideal world we would have not been colonized. Portuguese and spanish people would have come to South America to create a new country, and not to exploit it.

That's different though. Unless I misunderstood the other poster (I thought he was Brazilian). But D. Philip I (II) wasn't so bad. He kept everything separate and even wanted to move the capital to Lisbon iirc. But the following Kings started to fill the courts in Portugal with more and more Spaniards and its power started to weaken. At some point the camel's back broke.

Didn't expect Brazil to win, that was interesting. Spain was playing like ass though.

I made the fixed joke to a few friends as we watched, let Brasil win the CC so that the people's minds are taken away from protesting and whatnot. I hope this doesn't slow things down on that front.

Spaniards don't need to worry though, they can say this is a shitty tournament that doesn't count, just as many brazilians said after they lost the Olympics ;)
