Cops mistake Krispy Kreme doughnut glaze for meth

A reason not to decline is that you don't want a jackass cop pissed off at you, make up some bullshit to search the car anyway, not find anything then make you wait for the K-9 unit to show up, get the dog to give a false hit, and now your car is impounded.

Yes it has happened!

At this point if I'm stopped by the police it's assumed they will search the car.

If they can't search your car, they can't plant evidence.

When Rushing opened his wallet, she saw that he had a concealed weapons permit, she wrote. He told her that he had a gun, and she asked him to step out of his car, a small Chevy.

Wow, there is like, NO WAY this man would be alive if he was black...

Plant evidence? Evidence doesn't need to be planted for them to impound your car because a dog gave a fake signal. The dog doesn't even really have to give a signal, all the cop has to write up is that the dog hit. It's your word against his.

So this is prompting a complete review of the roadside drug test's accuracy right?

Because that is the only logical conclusion that can be drawn.

not necessarily, those drug tests are notoriously inaccurate to an absurd degree

The police are scam artists when they want to get their way.

I used to frequently travel to the US alone by car. The border patrol were absolutely convinced that I was running drugs, and would detain me every single time. They would bring out the dog, and even though I don't do any drugs and have certainly never had them in my car, just like magic the dog would "identify drugs in your vehicle and on your person".

Finger print, mug shot, pat down, interrogation, blah blah blah bullshit every single time.

"The dogs don't lie." Fuck you buddy.

For those interested in reading more about inaccurate roadside tests and unfair policing and judicial methods, there's a good article about how a grain of aspirin and caffeine was identified as crack and ruined a woman's life.

First thing in the article.

"Widespread evidence shows that these tests routinely produce false positives. Why are police departments and prosecutors across the country still using them?"

When the answer is pretty obvious. Because these tests routinely produce false positives."

Jesus. Thank god he wasn't black. Dude had a gun AND what they thought was meth on the ground? He'd have been shot dead where he stood.

It's a shame nobody ever told the guy the #1 rule for dealing with police: NEVER SAY YES IF THEY ASK TO SEARCH SOMETHING. Your car, your house, your body - if they don't have a warrant, then say no.

So let me get this straight:

Cops falsify roadside drug test
Precinct signs off on falsified drug test
Exonerated by state drug test done later?

Will the cops face punishment?
False positive. It happens as they are not as accurate. That's why the tests are sent to a laboratory. ;)

My guess would be money. It's cheaper to use a stick or two than to send it to a lab. If false, yay saved money and peep is clean (unless spice). Its positive, he / she might be under the influence. Send to lab if they deny they have taken anything. Then again, I did not administer tests as a cop but in healthcare.

And this is further proof that most of these drug tests that they give to police officers are absolute horseshit.

Yeah, this is really bad. How can doughnut glaze come back as crystal meth on a drug test? Or did they never actually do a test and faked the results to put the guy in jail?
