Kind of reaffirms my belief that putting a bunch of uneducated fools (on this matter) in the jury to decide something as important as this makes no sense. They clearly don't fully understand what they've done here. These things should be decided by people who actually understand them. But that's just not how it works, I guess.

Android OEM's have no patent protection from Apple or Microsoft unless they license. That's the bottom line, you can scream and whine and cry about it, but software patents are valid and you can't infringe them without consequences.

Bad news, I like Samsung.

I like Samsung too. They're a great hardware manufacturer, but some of the stuff that they can get away with in Asia doesn't fly in the Western world. The facts of the case depicted Samsung meticulously studying and copying every feature of the iPhone. It's amazing that people expected a different outcome to this case.

I think Samsung is going to be fine, but they have to come up with a new strategy to compete with Apple.

None of the phones in the lawsuit matter, they are almost all either off the market already or in the free-$50 tier. Even the $2 billion dollars isn't really important. What matters is that those nonsense patents were upheld, that hurts everyone in the industry.
