Cracker Barrel is going through fundamental changes.

I've been seeing stuff online that they've started microwaving food in the past year to save money. Trump should tweet about that next.

be careful what you read. I've seen people post blatantly untrue stuff on controversial posts just to get attention. I saw it today in fact.

I fuckin called it. This was probably planned (or at least calculated) from the beginning.

They brought back the old logo already :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_tears_of_joy:

On Tuesday, Cracker Barrel decided to scrap the new logo entirely and keep the original design. "We thank our guests for sharing your voices and love for Cracker Barrel," the company announced on social media. "We said we would listen, and we have. Our new logo is going away and our 'Old Timer' will remain."

The decision came after President Trump on Tuesday publicly urged the company to ditch the new logo. "Cracker Barrel should go back to the old logo, admit a mistake based on customer response (the ultimate Poll), and manage the company better than ever before," Mr. Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Much of the initial uproar focused on the new Cracker Barrel logo doing away with the image of an older gentleman sitting in a wicker chair leaning against a barrel. The man depicts company founder Dan Evins' Uncle Herschel, whom Cracker Barrel insists will remain an integral part of its brand identity.

I go to Cracker Barrel for that white southern grandma type shit, not Pinterest. Give me squeaky floors and a wagon wheel while I inhale grits and we good. It's like turning Waffle House into a yoga studio, or the Ale house into a French winery. The fuck?

Just want to post this as a resident left voting gaf member who somehow stays here through all the fake outrage over everything.

I've never eaten at a cracker barrel, and I don't think I even knew they were a restaurant versus something else like a popcorn store until this whole controversy.

It is a poor redesign. I've seen everyone from all political spectrums trash it. I was not shocked, but still surprised, that this somehow became the newest degradation of America for the Trumpist party.

I looked at their menu, and I think their bigger problem is their clientele probably started dying off 20 years ago.

I saw one item that looked mildly interesting, was some sort of breakfast item, and it was close to 1300 kcal, so no thank you.

I was pretty appalled at the salad options. They looked like they were 30+ years out of date.

They had another dish that was like pinto beans, instant potatoes, corn, and another food item. I didn't really understand it.

It's not some 5 star restaurant bro. It's basically just a fast food joint turned buffet with a southern comfort food theme.

No matter how you vote, you are fine with me. Who cares how people vote. Treat people with respect.

You are correct the right is currently generating outrage bait just like the left has been for years. It is all a giant distraction from the reality of what our governments our doing.

I don't think CB uses instant potatoes. They are supposed to be a scratch kitchen but maybe they have stopped that since the pandemic. I will say the food quality has dipped. But comfort food like Chicken Fried steak, CKN and dumplings, Gravy, are all good. You do not got to CB for a salad.

You dont need fine dining food to be successful. The most successful food place is McDonalds and their food is bottom of the barrel (though their fries are good!).

It's all about expectations. But just learning about CB the past week and skimming about it, I think their biggest issues are food quality and low prices. They got the top lines sales (growing), but their net profit is tanking probably because of cost issues.

They should had sunk all that marketing money into improving food and edging up prices a touch higher.

I dont think I've seen too many big complaints about the place looking like 1950s farm country, where everyone wants it looking slicker. But for some reason the new CEO (two years on the job) thought the best initiative was spending $700M to change the logo and revamp all the stores. The company itself isnt even big. So to commit $700M is insane.

The odd thing about the new logo is it isn't even good.

Even if the main goal was to simply it, they changed the brown font to black, the yellow badge part is way too big, and it sticks out messy as there isn't a nice border to go around it. And the B is too small compared to the C.

It literally looks one of the THREE ad agencies they hired to do the image revamp asked a summer intern to do it. And they gave him a 5 minute deadline.

I never got the hate for Cracker Barrel. Like, why can't white folks have a restaurant? We've got Chinese spots, Japanese spots, Jamaican spots, Italian spots, but the second there's a place for white Southern comfort food, suddenly it's the KKK's headquarters? Of course it's gonna attract that type, they're white people eating white people food nigga. :pie_roffles:That's like being mad at Ben's Chili Bowl because Black Panthers used to roll through.

…Okay, wait. Now that I say it out loud, maybe I do get it. Tit for tat maybe. But logically? Sound goofy.

Most southern comfort food isn't "white," including the stuff at Cracker Barrel.

Also, it's been awhile since I was in one, but the last time I was, there were just as many black folk eating as white.

It's definitely not a "white" restaurant.

Ben's Chili Bowl
The one thing I miss about living in DC. I'd kill for a half-smoke and some chili right now.

It's not even a white people people restaurant. Just like Red Lobster isn't a black people restaurant. It's just a restaurant with a certain style and food. If you go to a Cracker Barrel in Bristol, VA you'll see mostly white people because that's the majority demographic down there. If you go to one in Waldorf, MD you'll see mostly black people.

I'm talking about Cracker Barrel's food though. The flavor profile, no offense, and maybe this is low-key racist but whatever, is just plain AF. Like, 'seasoned with hopes and prayers' plain nigga. It's why I think it's Southern White. But yes, you're right because southern comfort foods in generally shared amongst, black, Native American and white.

Edit: Also the staff at Cracker Barrel is black as well.

Sometimes I just crave Southern comfort food and that whole cozy vibe. Plus, it's a buffet, which automatically makes it a win. I'm pretty sure it's because the menu comes from a shared Southern food culture, that's why a lot of Black folks like me end up eating there too. :messenger_grinning_sweat:

Let us all come together as a rainbow coalition of races that can all agree that Southern food simply fucking rules.

Nope. One guy in the company sounded the alarm that it was dumb, but no one listened. The board members and CEOs are full of idiots that think they know better than the consumers
