Frances 'may step up to hurricane'
Warning for panhandle as relief cranks up on peninsula

(CNN) -- Floridians are bracing for a rejuvenated Frances to make landfall as a hurricane Monday evening, after its lumbering 30-hour creep across the state during the weekend.

And I trademark/copyright/register that name
Storms don't get a name at all until they reach Tropical Storm, smart guy. Why don't you actually read the image I posted, and notice it's the final update for that system as it died over land.deadlifter said:pffffffffffftt, Tropical Depressions are pussy storms. I've yet to see an earthquake pick up a piece of sheet metal and throw it at me at speeds upwards of 100 mph.

Everyone in Miami (and elsewhere of course) took Frances very seriously and caused severe water/wood/gasoline shortages and that wasn't even projected to hit us dead on. Everyone still has their shutters/wood still secured and many of us (including myself) are taking the week to prepare even more.
I'm actually getting really worried right now. Not only will my work have to stop for a few days but I'll have to go through my backup routine and move all my important stuff to a safe location.
Cyan said:Earthquakes are overrated. I'd far rather have earthquakes than hurricanes. They last less than a minute, are pretty rare, and it's not very difficult to construct things such that they won't take much damage.

Mustang said:Maybe not but I have been in an earthquake before. The 1989 San Francisco quake.
If one remembers, a whole section of freeway collapsed on top of another below. A section of the Bay Bridge collapsed also.
Don't give a damn how strong a hurricane it is, it won't do near that kind of damage in 1 minute that a quake can.
A 9.0 quake in a heavily populated area lasting for a minute will cause damage unlike any seen before.
