Thats cause the hurricane stuff is already done in the media. Losing viewers or something. Its time to sell something else.

I think they nick-named him "Ivan the terrible" on FOX News or Weather Channel (maybe the tackers at the hurricane center or something)...

pffffffffffftt, Tropical Depressions are pussy storms. There are regular T-storms that are much worse. Ivan is going to be number three :)

Hurricane Ivan had sustained winds Sunday of 135 mph, advancing quickly from a tropical storm to a Category 4 storm, the National Hurricane Center said.

Ivan weakened slightly this morning to winds of 125 mph - still making it a dangerous Category 3 storm. Forecasters say it could become a Category 5 with winds greater than 155 mph in the next three days.

I will call him Chainsaw Ivan, I got the idea for that name a long time ago but never found a right time to use it. This is fitting enough.

P.S. those little islands are screwed.

Hey you liberal monkeys!!! This isn't some punishment from God for 2000 elections!?!?!!

It's God making sure Jeb and Florida doesn't get to decide 2004 elections! Only 3 more months of Hurricanes, Florida! :D

Shog i think its a conspiracy by the democratic party to make sure floridians cant fuck it up again so they created a weather machine and are gonna give florida some hell. That was funny i knew that little storm looked like it was gonna be something a week ago.

:lol If I lived in Florida I would evacuate the area FOR GOOD. I feel so bad for you people. Get the hell out of florida, go somewhere where the weather's not as bad. Anywhere you go is going to have crappy weather, but for example here in Pittsburgh, we get tons of snow and ice sometimes. That sucks, but at least you don't evacuate. You just stay away from work/school until its all over. :D

Seeing how Kerry is down 10 points, I doubt Democrats could craft let alone exectute such a cunning plan.

You guys realize that they are worried now that Frances is still alive and may charge back up to hurricane force AGAIN.

Frances 'may step up to hurricane'

Warning for panhandle as relief cranks up on peninsula

Monday, September 6, 2004 Posted: 9:58 AM EDT (1358 GMT)

(CNN) -- Floridians are bracing for a rejuvenated Frances to make landfall as a hurricane Monday evening, after its lumbering 30-hour creep across the state during the weekend.

Too bad this won't cause people to stop buying property in southeast florida. I wish it would, that way prices would go down so that I could buy myself a condo in one of the newer buildings that are popping up around Biscayne Bay and SOBE.

Storms don't get a name at all until they reach Tropical Storm, smart guy. Why don't you actually read the image I posted, and notice it's the final update for that system as it died over land.

SEE????? IT IS THREE DAMNIT!!!!

Anyone here live in Florida or more specifically the South Florida region? I myself live in Pinecrest, Miami and I'm getting rather worried about this storm. Everyone in Miami (and elsewhere of course) took Frances very seriously and caused severe water/wood/gasoline shortages and that wasn't even projected to hit us dead on. Everyone still has their shutters/wood still secured and many of us (including myself) are taking the week to prepare even more.

I'm actually getting really worried right now. Not only will my work have to stop for a few days but I'll have to go through my backup routine and move all my important stuff to a safe location.

Hmm, the Gulf currents could push it back up in the Florida panhandle.. most likely it'll hit Alabama or Mississippi.

I just don't want any more tropical storms... them fuckers drop a ton of rain.

Actually, with all the funding that Bush is going to be pouring into Florida these next few months, he could easy get himself the State.

I've lived in San Diego California for 23 years and I still don't know what an earthquake feels like......

I've yet to see an earthquake pick up a piece of sheet metal and throw it at me at speeds upwards of 100 mph.

Maybe not but I have been in an earthquake before. The 1989 San Francisco quake.

If one remembers, a whole section of freeway collapsed on top of another below. A section of the Bay Bridge collapsed also.

Don't give a damn how strong a hurricane it is, it won't do near that kind of damage in 1 minute that a quake can.

A 9.0 quake in a heavily populated area lasting for a minute will cause damage unlike any seen before.

Earthquakes are overrated. I'd far rather have earthquakes than hurricanes. They last less than a minute, are pretty rare, and it's not very difficult to construct things such that they won't take much damage.

And I have yet to see a Hurricane move the ground 70 feet, but an EQ can. Some EQ can be devestating and extreamly powerfull, even more so then Cat 5 hurricanes.

Scientist think that if another 1906 quake hits the death toll will be between 10,000 and 20,000. YIKES. Earthquakes kill more people than hurricanes.

Edited.

A hurricane in the third world can kill hundreds of thousands of people due to poor living arrangements, disease and flooding. The nice thing about a hurricane, is that you usually have enough time to get the fuck out of it's way (if you choose). Earthquakes don't usually give you that option. :(

Fucking propaganda peddlers.

Everyone from CNN to The Weather Channel were talking about how Ivan would more than likely not touch Florida....even though it is very probable that Florida will get hit again.

They were doing a 7-day forecast for the United States on the Weather Channel, and during one of the last days in the week, near Florida, it said, "Watching the Tropics" (a caption they always run to warn of a possible hurricane reaching land). The woman had the nerve to say, "That has nothing to do with hurricane Ivan."

WTF?

And on CNN, Wolf Blitzer asked one of their meteorologists, "So, it's guaranteed that Hurricane Ivan won't hit Florida?" (something along those lines). They woman--trying not to 100% disagree with him, but at the same time trying to make his point--said that it's probably not likely, but its too early to tell.

It's like if they wish hard enough, Ivan won't hit Florida. :)
