Crud.

hate to say it but the east coast especially florida is uninhabitable

I'm guessing it will hit Florida, personally though I think they should have called it Hurricane Boris, how the hell do they come up with these names anyway? I mean it's not like naming a baby or a pet dog, you don't say "what a cute little hurricane he looks like a Ivan" and how do they tell if it's a boy or girl hurricane :D

You don't know a whole lot do you?

It goes through the alphabet, A-Z. The names are already made up before the hurricane season. The names of the hurricanes alternate between boy and girl.

Well I feel bad for you so I'll educate. The people in charge of naming these things have a list that cycles every 6(?) years. These lists are in alphabetical order and go boy-girl-boy-girl etc.

Um, what? Nature fucks over each part of the United States equally. The lower part of the eastern seaboard gets hurricanes in the late summer, the northern part gets Nor'easters in the winter; the midwest gets alternating droughts and floods, and the west coast is where you want to be if you like earthquakes.

 and the first prize for taking my post too seriously goes to Boomer, with second place going to Scoobert.

i don't know about that. There hasn't really been a big earthquake over here in years. The last one i can remember was the one in '94 that hit BigBear and parts of SoCal, and that one wasn't even that bad. There's probably been 10 hurricanes hit the South East coast in that timespan. The brush fires are probably a bigger problem out here. Earthquakes ain't shit.

125mph winds already... jebus.

Last night when I posted about it in the other thread (at 11:57 PM), it was only 70 mph--still a tropical storm.

This thing is gonna be a monster.

Ivan has plenty of bodies of water before and in between lands to gain strength. By the projected path looks like this one is hitting for sure.

So you say. No wink, no smilie in original post. You were serious and are now playing damage control. :p

You will stay and you will loik it! The nerve of some people; trying to disturb the balance of the world. If you move, that will be much less weight on Florida and it will fly off into space. The children will die. THINK OF THE CHILDREN.

The middle part of the east coast, MD, DC, gets...... no wait... sometimes a Tornado, but that's REALLY rare and never in northern MD, and DC generally gets nothing besides regular weather.

Georgia gets jack squat. MAYBE the remnants of Florida's woes but other than that it's a coastal state with no problems out of the ordinary.

Wait, what about Hurricane Zell!

ANOTHER one. Ha. I remember hearing about it but hoped that it would die down. God hates Florida, it seems.

God is on OUR side...the liberal side. :D If I were God, I'd make Florida pay for fucking up the 2000 election, too. :p

Anyways:

It's a Category 4 hurricane now (wind speed of 135 mph, currently).

Riiiight :/

What did they do before 2000??? God's been pissed at 'em for a LOOOOOONG time.

Maybe it's because of Ponce de Leon, simply because of his silly girl name.

Or maybe it's Ray "Lace's Out" Finkle

It's an election year. ;)

This has certainly been the busiest hurricane season I've ever seen. But you go through busy years and very quiet years. For all we know, none may hit next year...or next year might even be worse.

One thing that does piss me off, though: weather people. They say "hurricanes are unpredictable." Yeah, that really helps me. Meanwhile, they get paid to say that hurricanes are unpredictable.

There's nothing funnier than watching CNN correspondents reporting from Florida with such informative improvisation as "Well, it's pretty bad out here!" or "The rain.. is hurting my face." Keep us posted, guys!

:lol "It's incredibly windy here!!"...shut the fuck up.

Anyway, Ivan looks to be more proof that tragedies come in three's...

Bonnie, Charley, Frances, and Ivan don't count three. ;)

the hurricane that hit the carolina's, you dipshit.

lol.

Who gives a flying fuck about the Carolina's you cunt lick? Isn't like they have a Disney World or anything.

Anyway, my point still stands...as far as Florida's concerned, Ivan is the third stage.

HEY!

I give a flying fuck about Carolina.

And that's all that matters.

One of the reasons Charley was just so damaging is that Bonnie had already saturated the ground when it arrived. Frances makes three.

Ivan will be four if it hits. :P
