The Taman Shud Case
A guy is found dead on a beach in Australia, his prints and dental records couldn't be matched to any knows person. His clothes had no tags, and police later found his suitcase containing more clothes with their tags missing. Inside a hidden pocket in his pants, the cops found a scrap of paper with the words "taman shud" on it, meaning something like "completed" or "finished".
It turned out that the piece of paper came from an extremely rare collection of poems. When the book was located, they found that the "taman shud" part of it was torn out, and in the back of the book some sort of code was written that to this day no one has been able to decipher.

A boy flying his kite stumbles upon two dead guys, clad in lead masks (typically used as protection against radiation) and wearing suits. On the scene police only found (apart from the bodies) an empty water bottle and a notebook in which was written:
"16:30 estar no local determinado. 18:30 ingerir cápsulas, após efeito proteger metais aguardar sinal máscara" which translates to "16:30 be at the agreed place. 18:30 swallow capsules, after effect protect metals wait for mask signal"
A Cracked article with five unsolved crimes, including these two.

This is an honest, no bullshit question. Does anyone here really believe the Ghost Adventurers about anything? They seem very sensationalist. They go into these places and taunt the "spirits" and then piss their pants the moment anything remotely paranormal happens. The only thing that scared me was the movie that led to the show wherein they were in that basement and the brick flew across the room.

Oh goodie, spooky story time.
When one of my best friends was a kid, he was playing with his little brother in their living room, enjoying a typical summer night. As the sun began to set, they decided to make a tent out of chairs, sofa cushions, and sheets in their living room. There were always strange things that happened in their house, but this particular night, they saw something that terrified them.
My best friend says that as they were tearing through the house, his little brother was suddenly nowhere to be found. My friend went looking to see where his brother had gone and found him standing at the entrance to their den. He asked his brother why he'd disappeared in the middle of their game and his brother responded that it was because he heard "the old lady" calling him.
Before he could ask what old lady, my best friend said his little brother pointed at the makeshift tent in the middle of their darkened living room. Inside, he said, was a haggard woman with white eyes, beckoning he and his brother to come to her. They started screaming and their older sister came running to see what was happening. She immediately saw the old crone in their tent and ran and yanked the entire thing apart. After it had collapsed, there was no sign of the woman. They never saw her again.

Not really creepy but something odd happened to me this morning.
I was running late for work so I dialed a nearby cab company and asked for a cab to pick me up while I was getting ready. I managed to gather my things right before the cab arrived so as I was closing the door I heard the phone ringing (meaning that the cab had arrived at the door and the porter was letting me know the cab was there).
When I got to the first floor, the cab was getting ready to leave which I thought was weird since it didn't take me more than two minutes to get to the first floor (I live on the third floor and I always take the stairs so I don't have to wait for the elevator). Anyway, when the porter saw me he looked surprised and said to me "didn't you leave on a trip early this morning?". I laughed and said no, I've been at home since yesterday night. "I saw you leave this morning at 5am. You ordered a cab and it picked you up. You were leaving on a trip. I called your place to make sure there wasn't anybody else there but since you didn't pick up the phone I told the cab to leave."
He seemed so certain that he saw me leave at 5am this morning. There are tons of logical explanations, he could have dreamed it or maybe somebody else that looks like me ordered a cab. But just the way he said it, the look in his eyes, the conviction. It kind of made me wonder for a bit. Maybe I sleepwalked or something. I don't know.

Anyone else wish they could do some paranormal investigation? I've been interested in this kind of stuff my whole life and I'd love to find some verifiable proof. I at least hope I'm not one of those chicken shits that runs out the house screaming should anything actually happen. How does one even get into stuff like this?

Most of them want something paranormal to happen so badly they overexaggerate/react to basically anything. It gets to the point of parody, so I haven't been in a while.
When I lived in Albuquerque I was a member of an awesome paranormal society. Really neat stuff happened in my time with them.
Most big cities and even moderately sized towns should have a paranormal group you can join. Just google or facebook it.
Quality varies, of course.

They had emf detectors, video cameras, digital air thermometers, digital recorders, even a thermal camera. They were mostly of the full of shit type though. We went to a few "haunted" cemeteries, covered bridges, a stretch of road by a burned out house. They get all excited over cold spots and weird feelings. Never caught anything worthwhile on tape though. I don't know how the ghosts could have had time to get a word in with all the talking the researchers were doing.

No, you're mixing two things. The dream-guy was just a viral campaign for a movie a couple of years back. "The grinning man" was a very tall human-like being that was supposedly seen a couple of times in 1966: first by two boys in Elizabeth, New Jersey, and a month later by a salesman on an interstate in West Virginia. There were also several ufo-sightings in both areas at those times.

Oh, wow, I followed TheJollyCorner's advice and search for a local paranormal research group. I think I'm going to try and join. I need to pay 10 bucks to join and a monthly fee of 5 bucks. Worst case scenario I may have a bit of fun for a while.

There are groups everywhere. They just don't get any exposure so they're hard to find. There used to be 50 state lists and yahoo groups etc back when that was popular. You might have to settle for a regional group instead of a local one.

Former Weezer bassist Mikey Welsh was found dead in a Chicago hotel room yesterday.
He predicted it in a dream and posted it on Twitter last week.
If the autopsy shows no drugs involved and it really does appear to be a natural heart attack, I can't even begin to come up with a mundane explanation other than an astronomically narrow coincidence.
Edit: Also in this thread: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=447916 but worth noting here, I guess. He's had drug problems before. It's certainly possible he was planning to suicide and posted that for some seriously morbid trolling. Autopsy report will be very interesting.

I was in junior high and had been going out with a girl for about a year, We planned a trip to magic mountain with a bunch of friends. The night before I fell asleep early but I remember feeling like I woke up sitting on the ledge of the roof of my 3 story building and having a conversation with someone who has a hoodie on covering their head so I can't see a face. I remember this person warning me that someone close to me would die soon. We went to Magic had a great day and nothing happened until we got dropped off. About a block away we got caught in the middle of a drive by, She was hit 4 times and bled out on the sidewalk before help arrived.
I remember standing over her in a daze thinking about it but at the same time pushing it out of my mind. There are a few other times where I have had the exact same thing where I feel like I wake up up on the roof talking to this person. This is the building i lived my first 16yrs of my life in, It was in a fucked up neighborhood so we used the roof to play because we felt safe up there. I guess I had blocked all instances out seeing as they mostly involve something fucked up happening to me. I will post a couple more soon, Just wondering if anyone has ever heard of anything similar?
