There are no Trump threads on the front page? What is this nonsense? Lets fix that.

The anti-establishment congressional agitator has made a rapid ascent into the lead in the GOP presidential race here, with a 21 percentage-point leap that smashes records for upsurges in recent Iowa caucuses history.

Donald Trump, now 10 points below Cruz, was in a pique about not being front-runner even before the Iowa Poll results were announced Saturday evening. He wasted no time in tearing into Cruz — and the poll — during an Iowa stop Friday night.

The actual numbers are 31 for Cruz to 21 for Trump.

Seems Cruz's strategy of laying low is paying off.

Trump will probably go on the offensive soon because Iowa is absolutely crucial, but he has to be very careful about it.

Yes Cruz is pretty smart. He plays the base like it's goddamned WWE. Dangerously he can say he believes in whatever he wants and uses phrasing and tone to make it sound genuine. He is a political rat but a formidable actor and speaker.

While Trump spews bullshit, Cruz is a bullshit salesman so his plan is to sell shit in simple words rather than spew shit in hateful words and eventually leapfrog Trump.

He is more conniving, deceptive and planning type smart. He is the only GOP candidate that has people in all the early states. He just doesn't have that charisma.
 
Just so we're clear, the last time we had a thread about Cruz being ahead in Iowa, within a single day we had a new one showing Trump ahead again which received little to no coverage. Just putting that out there for perspective.

They're not going to butt heads until the absolute last possible minute. Both know their fanbases overlap almost 100% - only one can survive. Either they team up at the last minute for a united front, or they kill each other. Trump has the money and cult of personality, but Cruz has favor among Trump's audience + establishment respect.

I could see the party swarming to Cruz as the way out of the Trump hole. Then Cruz promising some level of access to Trump in the WH if he doesn't run independent.

I hate Ted Cruz's guts and I'll say right now that he might be the smartest person running for president in either party.

The way he's able to manipulate and take advantage of his base is unparalleled.
 
Cruz: the lesser of three evils.

I mean he's still awful but I'd take him over Trump or Carson.

Not that I'd vote for any of them.

Yes and he is absolutely beloved by the tea party crowd. Guy can do no wrong. The only thing trump has had on him is trump looked like a winner while Cruz stagnated in the pack

I disagree. Trump talks a lot about stuff that's never going to happen. With Cruz as President, I strongly feel he'll get what he wants.
 
Wonder if Trump will begin attacking Cruz in earnest now. It's been pretty kid gloves until this point.

And I love Trump's ego he cannot allow a single poll result to not go his way without going on social media and calling the entire paper biased.

The Trump bomb kind of erased old grudges. Cruz is disliked by many more moderate Republicans, but he's far less outlandish than uncle Donny.

Cruz does not have establishment respect, they hate him with a white hot passion.

The establishment hates him.

Iowa isn't crucial lol. Santorum won in 2012. Huckabee won in 2008. If anything Iowa is the most irrelevant of the early states.
 
I feel like Cruz is the worst of the three. He believes all the shit Trump does but is more calculated. The fact Carson's supporters have all gone to Cruz should tell you the kind of crazy he summons.

Part of the reason they haven't gone all in on killing Trump yet is they hate Cruz worse and don't want to risk him absorbing Trump's support.
