About the Game -

From the makers of Far Cry, Crysis offers FPS fans the best-looking, most highly-evolving gameplay, requiring the player to use adaptive tactics and total customization of weapons and armor to survive in dynamic, hostile environments including Zero-G.

Earth, 2019. A team of US scientists makes a frightening discovery on an island in the South China Sea. All contact with the team is lost when the North Korean Government quickly seals off the area. The United States responds by dispatching an elite team of Delta Force Operators to recon the situation. As tension rises between the two nations, a massive alien ship reveals itself in the middle of the island. The ship generates an immense force sphere that freezes a vast portion of the island and drastically alters the global weather system. Now the US and North Korea must join forces to battle the alien menace. With hope rapidly fading, you must fight epic battles through tropical jungle, frozen landscapes, and finally into the heart of the alien ship itself for the ultimate Zero G showdown.

Never got a chance to play the first Crysis.

Is it really a better single player experience than Crysis 2?

And I'm pretty sure it's like RE4 and that it'll be Games on Demand.

Its a good game overall, Better then Crysis 2 interms of open world and giving you more ways/alternatives to fight.

wish this was XBLA so i could download the demo and see how it looks and runs. i didn't care for crysis 2, so i don't think i'm interested in picking this up.

Didn't realize it was out so soon. This is better than any other FPS you'll play this year
that isn't Bulletstorm
. It's so worth it.

OK, well then I guess the OP is incorrect?
And Games on Demand games don't go on sale like XBLA games, do they?

Edit: Seems like he fixed it now...

I stopped playing Crysis at the tank level. It was amazing up til that point. The beginning is incredible.

Me neither, I wish more games came out so soon after being announced.

I have a PC capable of running Crysis nicely and I own it on Steam, yet I am still tempted to get this on 360 or PS3 (assuming it runs well)... What's wrong with me? :(

yeah, i always buy a game just to play half of it. good advice.

its called a joke, cause the last half is widely considered to be bad, same thing that happened with Far Cry

Well i guess it aint much of a spoiler anymore (since you see it in screenshots), later half of the game introduces the aliens wich are just things you shoot millions of bullets at. I like to shoot guys with heads and other body parts so i can lay headshots and have more fun. I played the first half of Crysis being stealthy and mid-game they told me to go fuck myself and forced me into a boring playstyle.

Kinda like if Deus Ex HR turned into one of its boss fights in the middle of the game and lasted till the end.

I enjoyed the hell out of the level inside the alien ship. Some fantastic lighting on that level and it provides a good backdrop to what is going on with the invasion.

I would hardly consider anything after that to be half the game. It's a quick trip down a mountain, then the escort area, followed by the vehicle escort to the aircraft. Ascension is not in the console version, but I just fly right through that area anyway and dont stop to help anybody. The aircraft is kind of fun to fly in first person view as long as you dont have to actually fight with it. The final level has it's charm as well.

So post alien ship and pre final level is, in gameplay time, maybe 1/8 of the game if that.

Nice OP. Will buy that when I return from vacation.

Also no, play it to the end, the only shitty level is the last one. Well and Alien Ship which has nothing good to offer outside art and design.

Aside from that one part with the really confusing navigation, I didn't mind the second half that much. I was disappointed that it lost the more open-endedness of the first half, but the environments looked amazing and at that point I kinda needed a change of pace. The second half isn't as good as the first, but I don't think it was bad by any means.

I played stealth too, but I didn't mind the change of pace. Blasting the smaller aliens in what-may-be-their-face with the shotgun was pretty fun.

man, that level could have been fantastic

I guess im a bit bitter cause the game betrayed me while i was playing it. It wasnt a case of expecting something before release and then being disappointed, but rather a case of playing a game that's freaking good and looking forward to playing it, only for it to take a turn for the terribad.

Nevermind me, your experience may vary.

so is it a joke, or isnt it? is the last half worth playing, or isnt it? it didnt come across like a joke.

if the last half of the game sucks, then its not worth spending $20 on.

To be fair, it's more like the last 1/3, but I think it's easily worth $20.

Is it weird that I loved Ascension? The atmosphere was so good, from when you got on the back of the jeep all the way up until you got on the carrier. The whole carrier section was BS though.

the first level has 20 dollars of fun. You can approach this stuff from many angles.

It is not half the game and I have no idea why people say that. Problem #1 is that these levels are linear while earlier levels are not. But that only decreases the amount of total game time spent on these levels. By the end of the game they will be at most 1/8th of your total Crysis playtime. And that would be really stretching it.

I'm the kind of gamer that uses the whole map and does everything. In Crysis that will mean 8 to 10 hours on the levels before the snow levels and maybe 2 hours after.

I'd say its work 20 bucks, and it was only a joke in the sense that i wasnt expecting people to take me seriously and find out for themselves. As with any game there's different judgements out there. I personally didnt enjoy the last half (or, fine, las third if you guys wanna call it that :p) at all, but you might have a different experience.

I really liked Core. Not so much for the gameplay but just for the atmosphere:
CrysisCore.jpg

Warhead did the aliens much better, though.

1600 MS points, eh? Games on Demand, eh? I'm not falling for that again. It may be 1600 points in the U.S, but it'll be 1840 MS points on the UK marketplace, just like RE4 and Code Veronica.

I hope developers start mentioning this in press releases if they're going to be pricing these Games on Demand only titles differently in international markets.

Better thread title would be "Can it run Crysis?"

Anyways, looking forward to this. It got announced and is coming out so soon after, it's kind of amazing. Nice little bonus to go with Rage.

Only downside of the quick turnaround from announce to release is I wonder if there's a lack of hype that could translate into poor sales? We'll see.

I also think this is an experiment in digital distribution and it will be very good if this does well.

This thread makes me want to play Crysis again! I really wish they'd fix the bugs in Crysis 2 on PC though. It's a shame they aren't providing any more support for it.

If I dislike most FPS (especially military shooters) but like Halo and Borderlands, what are my chances of liking Crysis?

The last military shooting game I liked was some voxel based mulitplayer game on Windows 95 :p I am kind of confused if Crysis is more CoD style gameplay or more like Halo/Resistance, the Crysis 2 multiplayer deathmatch demo didn't really do anything for me (felt extremely twitch based which I hate)

Crysis is like Far Cry 2 with physics and better sandbox experience because it's smaller. But it's a military shooter in its first part.
