I just picked up the alt.end single last night and, unsurprisingly, the B-sides are quite good. "Why Can't I Be Me?", especially is a nice addition to the crop of songs from this last album. I also can't believe that "Going Nowhere" was a B-side and not an album track in the US. Excellent, beautiful song.
In general, I feel like the Cure's B-sides reveal a secret history of the band. Join the Dots made this very, very clear. Songs like "Harold and Joe," "Exploding Boy," and "Babble" are essential to the band's catalog yet don't really fit on any album. It seems like few bands put as much care, effort and attention into their non-LP work.
Anyone have any Cure B-side favorites?
