Cxllege Fxxtball 2016 Week Thirteen: Whx gets the best lxss?

USC should be an eternal top 10 team, and they aren't so I understand why their fanbase is jumpy.

They have legacy, a ton of previously great players, flush with cash, in a market with a gazillion fucking people, top notch weather ect...

In So Cal the land of 20-30 million people no reason USC shouldn't be able to get all kinds of good players. Plus So Cal has good weather so kids can play sports year around.

They do, which is why I'm cautious of Helton. How much of this success is him, and how much is just the amazing talent pool the USC name alone pulls in? Lane had a year just like this one before the wheels fell off and he was exposed.

I dunno. with that skill player set + that qb.... they gonna be tough for a while

no, they must play SDSU again.

Wyoming was higher ranked by their computer formulas so they host the game.

Wyoming narrowly beat SDSU just last week in Laramie, now they have to play them again.

SDSU is favored by 7.5

And they both got pummeled in their regular season finales, losing by a combined 53 points. The conference needs a juggernaut again.

That's what everybody thought when Lane had Barkley and a host of other starters coming back in 2012 and that team went 7-5. I'm just not sold that Helton isn't in over his head but we'll see. Programs like USC or Texas with the recruiting advantages they have should not have those kinds of up and down seasons. There is no reason a great coach shouldn't win 10 games every year at those kinds of schools, and if you can't do that at USC you probably aren't a great coach.

Even during their recent swoon recruiting was only hampered by the number of players they could sign. They were still bringing in highly regarded talent. They lost because they lacked depth and Monte Kiffin is a geriatric who has no business coaching against modern offenses. People forget how incredibly poorly coached those USC defenses were. They were assignment poor and fundamentally unsound at tackling.

Talent is important, but coaching matters at the college level, and USC ran up against a string of better coaches during that timespan.

Don't forget that USC fell apart after Khalil left. I mention this because they're losing both of their tackles after this season. Plus they likely lose their top two receivers and two most important defensive players.

We need more D-linemen, not LBers.

I'll be sure to let Saban know during my weekly tea with him.

WSU has an OL who is a finalist for the Outland trophy. He didn't make the All Pac12 team. UCLA placed linemen on the first and second team.

Awards are dumb.

Baron.. listen to your parents. They want you at Ohio State... They don't trust Nick. Jeffrey is coming and you two are bros.. come on Baron. Luke will make you a first rounder and get you early playing time.

You, Marvin, and Jeffrey on the defense.. that's gonna be real nice

Add on to that they might flip a five star CB from anOSU. Saban has such a recruiting machine.
I'm going to be really annoyed if that happens..

We might get Darnay Holmes from out West should Wade leave and we still have Jeffrey..

Our secondary should be decent

I've been under the impression that Wade has been an Alabama lean for quite some time...wish he would just either decommit and get it over with or truly reaffirm his OSU verbal.
I do too..

We need more D-linemen, not LBers.
Aren't you losing 2 or 3 this year?

All Charlie had to do was win like 8 games and we could've landed Browning. This will be worse than missing A'shawn 4 years ago.
Not only Browning, Wilson, Dobbins, maybe Okudah

But he might get all of them should he decide to go to Ohio State..

Man, fuck the Oregon AD Mullens for doing that to Helfrich. It's further damaging the program to say:

'hey i'm gonna go work on my CFP stuff and then come back and let ya know'

What a tool.

To be fair, if Darnold didn't turn out to be a star he'd probably be gone already.

Keyshawn was the only one saying 'let it ride out' while the George duder was getting all panic-y. I get the program has experienced a crazy amount of change but you have to let things breath.

But yeah if they 4-8ish Clay would be gone.

Jabrill Peppers is BIG LB of the year?

Raekwon got robbed..

But he's primarily a secondary player..

It's a crock..

Chad Morris told Baylor no.

Job is toxic.

I read he wanted 4.5 mil or something and Baylor said naaaaaaaaw
If Baylor wants that job filled.. they will have to break the bank at this point considering how toxic the job is..

LOL he got Defensive Player of the Year, too.

I don't mind us ever winning coach of the year.. it's expectation game as always..

No one expected Paul Chryst or that Toolbag Franklin from the success they had..

They should have given Peppers returner/Secondary/and DPOY.. I guess.. but LB? Ridiculous..

Me either. I figured James Franklin was a shoo-in.

Jourdan Lewis over Malik Hooker for DBOY is the bigger shame, tbh.

That.. would be a good landing spot for him..

I guess Paul got it because of that goddamn schedule was hell and he only had two losses..

I don't have a problem with it..

I agree with you with that as well.. but only because Peppers should have been given DBOY rather than friggen LB..

Hooker should have gotten DBOY rather than Lewis..

If Penn State wins, I think we (OSU) are in. If Wisconsin wins.....I'm not as certain. I still think we'll go, though.

OSU and Bama are in for sure.

Clemson if it wins is in
Washington if it wins is in

If one loses, B1G winner is in
If two lose, I really think B1G winner and Michigan will be in to put 3 B1G teams in the playoff

Being a Michigan fan right now... ugh. At 5, it would seem as though we only need Washington or Clemson to lose and be in, but all know that isn't the case.

I think we need Washington to lose and Penn State to win to have a decent shot. Clemson and Washington lose and I don't think it matters who wins the Big 10 championship, we'd be in.

It just sucks that the two best teams in the Big Ten are left on the sideline this week to just watch and wait.
