LET'S GO

Watched episode 1 of this recently and it was everything I associate with cringe anime. Silly voices, cringe sex scenes, nonsense plot - turned it off, how does this have such a high like percentage. I'm clearly missing something.

One day I will play the game, then the DLC, so that I can watch the show (assuming it has game spoilers).

It really doesn't. It takes place in the same universe, same city but Night City is huge and there's a lot of stuff happening simultaneously.

There's zero game spoilers in this anime.

Weird…are you not a Nintendo fan?

Watched episode 1 a few years ago then stopped. Can't have a single successful series be remembered in the hearts of the fans anymore.

Dunno what to tell you, I watched the whole season and it's one of my favorite animes ever.

Bonus fact, dozens of locations in the anime are places you can find in the game. City streets, corporate buildings, alleyways, food stalls, they're all in the game too.

It doesn't really have any game spoilers. Just world lore and one prominent character making an appearance.
It doesn't really have anything to do with the game other than sharing the same setting. They retroactively added stuff from the show to the game tho.

I'll take your word for it. I had learned early on that it featured a prominent character like EviLore EviLore said and I didn't want to experience things out of order if that was the case.

Silly voices? Did you watch in Japanese?

Such good news. I haven't even played the game yet but I remember the Cyberpunk role-playing book from way back. The first season of this show is one of the best Netflix shows.

I also only watched the 1st episode and wrote it off. But have since seen it getting praise from a myriad of sources. Might give it another chance the next time I'm in the mood for some anime.

That's just so racist man :messenger_tears_of_joy:
I don't think he's trying to be (at least I hope not). There are genuinely times where another language dub can save a show from being too cringe or annoying, especially if certain VOs go overboard and over act.

A classic example:

vs the dub

I remember this sub driving a lot of sub viewers either away from the show or towards the dub of it. The dub actor did do some screaming scenes for the character in the video, but it wasn't nearly as bad as how it sounds in the first video which is extremely over the top.

Nice, can't wait.
I really enjoyed S1, I actually liked the plot more than that of the base game (phantom liberty was great though )

I watched the show before playing the game and I actually thought it enhanced my experience when I finally got to play it, because I was already familiarized with the world and some of the concepts in it.

Edgerunner, what is it? Is it a show that takes place in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe?
Is it worth watching?
Yeah it is, to both questions. Absolutely worth it if you like the game.

Its an anime show on Netflix. It takes place in the events before the game and a prequel of sorts (not V's story though).

That's what I said after the last episode. Did we really need that?
I don't expect much, but maybe it's my bias against Studio Trigger, can't stand them anymore.
I personally LOVE studio trigger even more especially after this show and Delicious Dungeon and I can't wait for new Panty & Stocking.

Going in blind for New P&S, the original wasn't really THAT endearing (at least for me), but art direction was genuinely top notch and a good reason to watch it. Hopefully it's even better now.

I thought the first season was solid, if a bit of a slow burn. Not up to Akira standards, but nothing is. Assuming this will be an anthology type of thing, because... reasons... I'm all in for a new cast and a new season.

Very good. I liked the first one so much that it made me try Cyperpunk 2.0 (after the initial release was disappointing). That being said, Rebecca > Lucy.
