http://www.myfoxdfw.com/dpp/video/091510-police-to-release-beating-video-today

Didn't see a thread posted about it so I thought I would post it.

Police try to pull over a man for apparently driving his motorcycle on the sidewalk and he tries to flee, running stop signs and driving on the sidewalk trying to get away. When he realizes the jig is up and he won't be getting away, he stops and goes to the ground. But the officers decide to beat his ass with their clubs instead.

I didn't catch it but apparently in the audio you're supposed to be able to hear the passenger tell the driving officer to "pull alongside him so I can beat his ass".

Anyway, the main reason I posted this here is some friends and I saw it and debated whether or not officers should be able to inflict a little extra physical deterrent to a fleeing suspect. I mean, if a guy is driving in a way hazardous to others and then increases his hazardous driving trying to get away from police, imho even if he stops and surrenders, the cops should treat him as hostile. I mean, what if he killed someone? What if the cops killed someone while chasing him? But at the same time, no one died and the dude surrendered. Maybe being a little extra physical while cuffing him would have sufficed instead of the full on ass beating.

Either way I expect these officers to lose their jobs.

EDIT - Some NSFW language in there.

I think they already have.

::edit::
Make that one of them has, Randolph. Both being charged with assault.

Of course cops are not entitled to do things like this, but I certainly don't feel bad for the guy.

If you want to avoid getting beat down by cops, don't do stupid things like drive a motorcycle on the sidewalk or run from police. This should be as much common sense as avoiding a 'bad neighborhood' late at night.

Chief David Brown said Officers Kevin Randolph and Paul Bauer began pursuing 28-year-old Andrew Collins because he was revving his motorcycle on the sidewalk of MLK Boulevard.

Come on now

Not all cops are bad, most are actually good and intend to do well.

But then you have some crooked, dirty, criminal cops that need to be arrested and put on trial...

Hope the motorcycle guy sues the shit out of the city of Dallas and gets paid.

I could see wanting the cops to lose their jobs and possibly go to jail, but you honestly want that piece of shit to get paid?

I'll bet Dallas taxpayers might feel differently.

I dunno, I'm probably a little more lenient on violence than many here but in a way that's why I never thought about becoming a cop. Way I see it, the guy basically stopped several times, let them catch up just to start the whole process again, if I was chasing him and he surrendered I'd probably be thinking "what's he got planned this time?" I'd probably hit him a few times to make sure he can't do much either. In fact, I really don't care about what they did to this guy at all, but it is still a problem because you have to wonder how physical they get at other times as well, so whether I think they were fine to hit this guy or not I still think they should all lose their jobs.

Sure, why not?

He got beat by the police. That shit was uncalled for.

He shouold also be brought up on charges stemming from his actions, but that shit doesn't magically erase what those cops did.

Smh.

Yep.

Not saying what the cops did was right, it wasn't, but that's one of the risks you run when you try to flee from them.

I love shit like this.
Guy breaks the law, then runs from the law, puts people in danger and then when he realizes that he is screwed he tries to say "ok I'm done now" on his terms.
I would beat his ass a little too.
The whole bleeding heart protect the criminal crap has gotten far too out of hand.

When You slow down then take off, then slow down, take off. You should expect any ass beating thats coming. It does not make it okay that this POS, at the end of a fifteen minute police chase, says" ok I' surrender" after he puts multiple lives in danger. the officer was not really driving that dangerous. I swear GAF will defend anybody, no matter the crimes they commit.

You should watch the video.

Yeah, the dude is a dumbass, but he didn't deserve that.

The cops are the only criminal pieces of shit in this video and they are not above the law, just because they carry a badge.

Its no wonder why the guy was driving on the sidewalks, it looks like he's never rode a motorcycle before the way he was making his turns.

What world do you live in where it is okay to run from the cops, slow down like you are stopping multiple times only to speed up again, not counting the countless lifes this POS put into danger. In my world when the cops put on there lights you pull over get your ticket, move on with your life. I hop they charge that idiot with wreckless endangerment with a motor vehicle, a much serious charge.

Yeah, the chase lasted about a minute, and he even stopped at a stop sign. And his original crime was revving his motorcycle on a sidewalk. Yeah, he's a dumbass, but he's hardly a vicious criminal that deserves a beating bad enough to cause internal clotting which could have killed him.

I swear GAF will defend anybody, no matter the crimes they commit.

Quoting this for the irony.

These topics always boil down to either you hate cops / like cops. I fall into the hate cops territory for various (and justified mind you) reasons so I hope they get the book thrown at them or better yet the guy sues them.

If you get hit by a guy on a motorcycle while on the sidewalk, I hope you get up fast enough to stop the cops and help him get away. Oh, and buy a gun, forget that 911 bullshit.

He panicked. It's that simple. He came to his senses after, at most 2 minutes and he didn't deserve what he got.

In my world, the cops should have arrested him and protected his rights, not violate them.

Did you purposely miss the part of the video where he stops then speeds up multiple times, like he was acting like he was pulling over, then when the cop stopped, he speed up Multiple Times. Why not just stop at first get your ticket, and that will be that.

He didn't even drive on the fucking sidewalk you goddamn idiot, watch the video!

The GAF criminal defense force has a large following. Suspects are entitled to white glove service and handjobs prior to due process.

Better get those eyes checked, Timmy

He was sitting on the sidewalk revving the engine and that's what started the whole thing. He never once got on a sidewalk during the pathetic excuse of a "chase."

This came out yesterday at 5pm in Dallas. The news said there have already been 13 firings within the dept. PR nightmare for them with local new/national media starting to pick it up extensively. Local minority groups are up in arms.

The problem is that the same dallas pd had another incident with beating an inmate for essentially talking back to the police officer (rather rudely, and a bit roughly). Both of whom are minorities. They also let a white male who was driving a porche literally hit a black woman's car who was having trouble at the side of the road go free. Why is that wrong? She was in the car, him hitting her caused her car to flip three times, and she died instantly. He walked away with a few scratches. They "may" charge him with involuntary manslaughter. His excuse that they are buying? It was so foggy outside (there was fog but come on) that he couldn't see her emergency lights in time to stop.

Dallas police are racist as shit and have a history as such. Houston? Not so much. Austin? Not at all. San Antonio? They have drug problems from high hell but not as many race related incidents.

I think it is you who needs to watch the video
Let me help

40 seconds: on the SideWalk like he was pulled over, cop gets close, speeds off while still on the sidewalk
45 seconds: Illegal left turn.
56 seconds: right turn no blinker
1:09 runs stop sign
1:11 stoped like he was pulled over, only to speed off

1:21 runs stop sign

1: 46 stopped like pulled over only to speed up
1:54 runs stop sign
1:56 drives on sidewalk

that should get you started.

Either you're not watching the whole video or you're trolling. Either way -

Here's the beginning, where they first saw him (across the grass, on the right) -

Here's a later part, where he not only goes up on the sidewalk but then heads into the street from the left into oncoming traffic (red light on the left is him) -

When you run from the police like this then you should expect a certain amount of physical force being used when they secure you. I have a low tolerance for police beating people and this arrest and "beating" does not exceed what I would consider excessive.

The cops are justified in considering him a threat when he seems to give up because his previous "I give up" routines were lies.

The cops are justified in beating him because he was an asshole.

No, he was a dumbass that made a dumb mistake, and he didn't deserve the beating and you shouldn't condone it.

Because if we're allowed to give out beatings for people being assholes, then you'd be on that list.

No, you really shouldn't and that's why it's illegal and against the law.

I bet this is hardly the least of what these pieces of shit have done, they just got caught this time.

None of the above justifies cops breaking the law by assaulting him.

Man breaks law, follow protocol and guidelines. Fine him or arrest him.

Nowehere is a beatdown allowed. Especially for traffic violations, because that's what each of those were.

The cops will be punished, but this POS deserves every charge he gets thrown at him. I hope he does serious jail time. He knew exactly what he was doing, he was trying to fool the cop like he was stopping multiple times, so he could get away. that is not some simple mistake, that was done on purpose.

Pretty sure he can be charged with fleeing the cops(felony), and wreckless endangerment with a motor vehicle(felony).

He didn't make a mistake he made several mistakes in rapid succession. Had he ran for a second and stopped and surrendered, hey fine, but he ran, stopped, ran some more, stopped, ran again, I do condone that guy getting beat a few times, I really do, but I also condone those cops getting fired.

Except now, he won't serve anytime and will probably get a pretty big payday.

Great job officers.

Oh my.

Him getting arrested would have been accountability. That's the penalty for doing what he did. So where does the beatdown come in?

Guess what, it was wrong thus those cops were fired.

Let the courts decide his punishment.

Cops were wrong, so they should be punished. No matter what the guy did, its not their duty to hand down their own twisted version of justice. Let the courts handle the guy. Idiots.

Him getting arrested would have been the accountability for the original infractions, probably would have been nothing more than a slap on the wrist.
But no, he decides to be an idiot and run and instead of just full on running, he decides to be a smart ass and toy with the cops and at the same time put people in jeopardy.
That is where the beatdown comes in.
Did they go too far? Yep.
But the victim act? You are not really finding alot of supporting ears in here.

Uh, no you shouldn't.

This guy is a total moron, but that does not give a police officer the right to use excessive force. They are paid, by your taxes and mine, to be professional servants of the public, and they are trained to follow specific rules and procedures in a case like this. This whole "so what, the dummy deserved it" argument is a slippery slope of the worst kind. You let a person with a badge and a gun start thinking they can hand out extra punishment based on their own judgment, and it all goes downhill from there.

Not just the original infraction.

Original infraction + evading arrest + reckless endangerment at a minimum, I would guess.

I agree with you the cops don't have a right to do that, but it is pretty much given if you are crazy enough to flee, the police don't know what else you are capable of. He played possum so many time before, with the stopping and fleeing, maybe he was doing it again, acting like he was going to the ground only to pull a gun.
