I went in and copied the CD-Key and went into "Activate Game".
It said "You already own the product associated with key bla bla"

This means you SHOULD be able to give away your old GFWL keys to give someone a free activation.

Oh I didn't realise we still needed dsfix after the patch. That's pretty shameful for Namco and From.

Well then, I was all excited then I remember that I didn't back up my save file when I moved from win7 to 8; and I beat the game pre-achievements.

The migration literally just checks to see if Dark Souls is tied to your account and Steamwork-ifies it. It doesn't use any GFWL codes. FROM said you'd be able to transfer retail GFWL copies to Steamworks as well, so it should take the keys.

Keep in mind Steam didn't say the Key was already used when I tried to activate it, it said I already owned the game. This obviously only works if you bought the game on Steam, which is how it worked with Street Fighter.

I'm not really sure if my DSFix is downsampling. It's sort of working because I can toggle the HUD and the 60 FPS, but I'm not sure about the downsampling. I've also enabled the takeHudlessScreenshot in the ini.

Is there a way that I can be sure that it's working besides looking at the IQ?

It really seems to be an issue, I saw like 2 signs in 30 minutes of play, should literally be fixed with the flick of a switch from what I read.

Don't get me wrong I definitley appreciate thriftiness but

A) for the asking price you will DEFINITELY get your money's worth and

B) now would be an amazing time to jump in since today's patch is giving the community a big shot in the arm.

That said the game is on sale often for under 10 dollars but all I'm saying is it may not be worth holding off for a small savings.

I played it at 60fps just fine but I don't think its working with the steam version right now. Had to disable it to get it to migrate.

There are 2 or so jumps that are tough to pull off at 60. Just hit backspace in game and you'll toggle back to 30fps.

Ladder sliding is no problem, I slid down (I think) every ladder that you descend (as in the ones you approach from the top) without issue. There is once or twice when you need 30 FPS to make a certain jump but all you do is just tap backspace to toggle and you're set. Very playabe.

I played the game multiple times from start to finish running at 60 FPS the entire way. I slid down every ladder and made every jump without issue. Never had to drop to 30.

That's the problem, just delete dinput8.dll and it should work, then scroll up a few posts to Durante's post and you'll find a build that's compatible

Right now you can get the GWFL + Steamworks Hybrid version if you opt out of the beta, though when i tried signing in it was stuck on the "signing in" graphic before i force closed it.

Ah yeah, that happens. I managed to fix that problem somehow, but it was annoying as fuck, can't find the guide that helped me though. I'm certain it involved removing and changing registry keys and uninstalling GFWL and manually deleting files.

It's a fucking mess I tell ya
