Where to next? Do I go to Demon Ruins, Andor Lando, or back to the Undead Parish for the fortress that just opened up (assuming its Sen's Fortress since I've heard people talk about it).
Try cutting the first gargoyle tail before the second gargoyle shows up. When you cut it the gargoyle does nothing allowing you to dish lots of damage. Thats how I got past them.
I did the first time by complete luck. It helps but like I said, the moment that 'event' happens it's game over. I think I'm just going to have to get a bit stronger. I kinda wish you could respec. I would have rather put 10 levels into health rather than stamina.
Enjoying the game so far and I definitely need to work on my parrying skills. Just need to time the blocks correctly.
Can I sell extra items? I found a dead guy selling items (forgot where, but he made reference to a Yulia (i think) when I bought nothing), but I couldn't tell if I could sell my stuff to him. I found an item called "Rubbish". Should I get rid off it or hold on?

It's actually just a knight, possibly a shout-out to JoJo's Bizzare Adventure also having a knight named Tarkus. (JJBA names a lot of characters after music, especially prog rock.)

You probably just mistyped but just to make sure, parrying has nothing to do with blocking. You press the "parry" button (LT on controller) and then quickly follow it up with quick attack (RB). It's extremely fun to see the different weapon's parry attacks. The bat is brutal.
hitting the tail that many times and to the extent that you do enough overall damage to nearly kill him outright, maybe it in fact can't come off.
But yeah, maybe you just have to hit it in a certain spot, which is probably going to be rough to do. This guy sounds pretty nasty; Seath was fairly slow-moving.
It'll be interesting to see what comes out of it, if anything.
Either way, it's fun to challenge yourself with off-kilter things in a game like this. I'm personally trying to basically go through the game backwards this time around, tackling the higher-level bosses and areas early.
I figured out how to summon the phantom. I no longer need to co-op with people to have a go at his tail, I can just let the AI tank for me and unload on it. The speed at which I can retry just improved by an order of magnitude.
Check for illusory walls in the new content, peeps. No foolin'.
All this weapon talk...I thought I would be going for a DEX build and am currently using a +7 Iaito.
I'm still fairly confused by the upgrade system. I can either pick making the weapon elemental and upgrading it from +5 onwards or continue doing regular upgrades and get it to +8, +9 and so on, correct? How do I know which is better -- making the weapon elemental or continuing doing the regular upgrades?
I just defeated Queelag and need to figure out where I'm going next now...probably finish up the Garden part.
Dunno if there are any better ways but you can make your way up those elevator platforms and ladders and find a key in one of the chests, if you keep on going that way you will end up in Drake valley and from there you can take the elevator up to Firelink Shrine. It doesn't take me long at all to do it now that I know the way and am familiar with it...you can also get crimson armor on your way there and a flask upgrade item.
they are incredibly weak against lightning, to the point where you can easily kill the first gargoyle even before the second one lands on the roof. I can't remember where exactly, but one of the corpses you come across in the Undead Burg has 3 things of Yellow Pine Resin that can temporarily give your weapon lightning properties. One application should last you the length of the fight easily.
Yeah, the Gold Pine Resin can be found in the Burg right before the first Black Knight, but you'll need either the Master Key or the Residence Key (from the first merchant) to access the house.
Make sure you ring the 2nd bell, then rest at the bonfire of the fair lady. Then back to the swamp bonfire. Leaving the swamp bonfire, turn right and you will see some scaffolding. Progress up that untill you reach an exit.

Lightning = +10 @ Giant Blacksmith
Fire or Chaos = +5 @ Catacombs Blacksmith
Divine = +5 @ Burg Blacksmith
Crystal = +10 @ Giant Blacksmith
Can't remember the others, somebody help me out. But the magic, enchanted upgrades are done by the blacksmith in New Londo. Occult is done by Andre in the Burg.
Take it all the way to +15 for maximum stat scaling and buffs, this can be preferable for Faith/Magic buffs and builds. Same goes for shield and bow upgrading of course, but as a rule I'd recommend always a standard upgrade path for shields.

I forget, is there a particular stat that allows for better use of the greatswords? I'm using the Black Knight Sword currently for one of my characters and I wish I could do better with them. He does a one handed sweep attack with the sword, but it's slow.
Can boosting strength, endurance or dexterity make it better?

Not only for the other reasons of either not having a PC or not having a good enough PC there is also the ratio of cheaters. PC is a more open platform and as such the online community will get hit with a huge wave of cheaters. Especially once people start using the Arena more. While they do exist on the 360, there will be no where near as many as it isn't as accessible as just downloading a program and hitting a couple buttons.

I'm assuming cheating will die down pretty fast, generally people who play like that lose interest much more quickly then someone who doesn't take shortcuts.
Well, I think I'm giving it up for the day. I realize now it would have been better to just pour all my souls into health since that was the limiting factor here. I keep getting two shotted by all the big guys and they never give you a window to heal during battle so blowing points to increase my healing pool was a waste of time. Thing is, I am never going to get lucky and get that spear drop again.
Question: Is there any spear I can get earlier than the winged spear in the undead parish?

Big guys? The Winged Spear is one of the better spears in the game, just upgrade it. At +5 or higher and some skill it should be no problem using it. Only other good spear you can get early is probably the Pike from the blacksmith in the burg.
I could use some help on the Gaping Dragon if anybody is around. I have thrown a summon sign down right infront of the stairs leading to it in The Depths but nobody seems to be hanging around that area.

his tail can drop a weapon or be cut.Try a few more times to be sure.I mean that's what i would do but looking at streams i'm like 50% sure it can't cut off.. 50% because they didn't take to long trying it in streams.

The requirements were higher for a whopping extra 6 damage which I'd have to waste levels on. I assume though it must get strong faster than the regular spear by upgrading? My +5 spear did 128 which seemed pretty pathetic. I quickly loaded up the game and the pike requires 25 strength. No way am I using my first 15 levels on that! Guess I'll give the winged one a try.

If I claimed I hadn't wondered about this myself I'd be lying. The tail makes the critical hit sound and the critical spark pops up when you hit it, though.
I'm going to dedicate a few hours tonight to working at it now that I've got an efficient method of retrying worked out. If I still can't pull it off I'm just going to take out my frustrations on him in an orgy of abject, indifferent brutality and damn the tail.

This actually just explained something I'd wondered about for a long time. I knew that the AI phantoms were pop culture references, and I knew about the album and about how it was apparently weirdly popular in Japan, but it still seemed like a stretch.
It being a JoJo's Bizarre Adventure reference actually makes a lot more sense alongside the World of Warcraft and anime references.

Wow, so I was exploring some place with towers, and came upon a message left by a user, saying something like "nice ring ahead". The entrance was guarded by some enemy, and as I approached him, I noticed he looked much stronger than the regular undeads. Obviously he ended up killing me, and I really wish to say I put up a good fight, but that would be lying!
After recovering my body I thought "OK, I'll deal with him later" and took another path. Got crushed by a flaming barrel (luckily it only took half my health) and attacked by a couple of archers. Then, as I was walking through a narrow bridge and enjoying the scenery, a Taurus Demon came out of nowhere right in front of me. I watched in horror as he ran at me, and moped the floor with my knight while I helplessly tried to defend myself.
The game is seriously hard, but addictive at the same time (I need a new rig though, as with Durante's 0.4 patch I get a low framerate, even with the game's default DoF). I'll get you next time, stupid beast!
Thats not really spoilers, that's just the introductory level Rionaa, You've got a long way to go.
Anyway, i'm calling it a night...joining in some Jolly co-op and made it to Anor Lando, I've beat the game already 3 times on console, I have yet to grow tired of anything in this game, cant wait to play my favorite area on the game tomorrow, The Painted World!
I actually just had my single best run. Probably about 90% of his lifebar removed hitting his tail. Unless there's some magical sweet spot I'm missing, I don't think it comes off.
I don't really think I can improve on that short of just up and killing him with tail blows. It might be time for me to annihilate him in a glorious cascade of cathartic, unrefined violence and move on.

Summoning both helpers I was able to kill the Dragon on my first try. It makes the fight the easiest boss I've come across yet. Just attack the behind. Both of the helpers died while the Dragon was about 1/4 HP but I was able to finish it off myself.
Is there a way to kill the Gargoyles alone? Seriously. I had to use the summon sign to finally get through that area. An awesome dude just like the one that says "Praise the Sun" helped me destroy them. It felt like cheating though.
After that I went back to the beginning area to kill the Black Knight. Got confident and tried to also kill the one in the tower and got my ass handed to me. At that point I was considering leaving some humanity and souls there, but I took a risk and went back. My heart was racing when I barely made it out alive with my stuff back again.
Man, I never regretted my choice of builds until I got to Bulk and Skull. That piddly little lightning spear +3 just is not doing it anymore.
Also quite depressing when I get invaded because everybody has more health and does many times my damage. THREE TIMES I finally managed to get a friendly phantom summoned for Penn and Teller only to have somebody run in and two shot me with god-knows-what before I could even fight back. Doesn't help that 99% of my summons seem to fail.
But soon...SOON my dex/faith setup will fall into place and those points I spent will mean something. Thinking I'll make a Furysword just to tide me over because I need some more stuff to get my balder sword to +15...and I don't have my darkmoon blade/sunlight blade for it yet anyways.

Yeah I'm getting at that point as well. I know all his patterns by heart, I could probably obliterate him if I were to fight him for real.
Maybe his tail needs to take a certain amount of damages in a certain time? I do shit all damage (around 200 per heavy hit...) so I can't really put that theory to the test.
Ok, I just had a messed up glitch when I was fighting Havel. I was circling him and attacking and all was well, until all of a sudden he disappeared. It was like he was still taking physical space but I could not attack him.. I went back and tried to reset it at a bonfire hoping that it would reset him, but alas nothing. I tried quitting the game and going back but no luck...
Suddenly in the tower I was swinging around like mad and I got 3000 souls... but no ring or drops whatsoever...
anyone else have this glitch happen to them, and am I shit out of luck?
I can't beat him... Taurus Demon is too hard for me. And the sad thing is I have to choose between killing him or losing 4000 souls, because once I cross the white fog, it won't let me go back, and I need to cross if I want to recover my body.
I really suck at the game, I don't know how everyone else manages to get good at it. Won't stop playing, but I'm sure I'll never kill him.

As soon as the Taurus appears, turn 180 and run towards the entrance, right next to it is a ladder that will take you to the top of the tower. From there you can use your drop attack on him with little risk. Makes the fight a hell of a lot easier.

The drop attack is the same as the jumping slash? (forward + RT on the 360 gamepad). I actually climbed to the top of the tower to see if he would leave me alone, but the bastard jumped there and still kicked my ass. The main problem I have is once he throws me to the ground, I don't have time to get up before he strikes me again. And I can't get close and hit him, he always hits me first.
