You will recruit, train, and lead a team of flawed heroes through twisted forests, forgotten warrens, ruined crypts and beyond.
You'll battle not only unimaginable foes, but stress, famine, disease, and the ever-encroaching dark. Uncover strange mysteries,
and pit the heroes against an array of fearsome monsters with an innovative strategic turn-based combat system.

You will have to tend to characters’ spirits as much as you do to their Hit Points. But in these grim situations, you'll find opportunities for true heroism!

Darkest Dungeon is not a game where every hero wins the day with shiny armor and a smile. It is a game about hard trade-offs,
nearly certain demise, and heroic reversals.

Do you have what it takes to survive in the forgotten corners of the Darkest Dungeon?

FEATURES:

  • The Affliction System – heroes' personalities are paramount! Contend with paranoia, abusiveness, fear, irrationality, and a host of gameplay-meaningful quirks
  • Striking hand-drawn gothic crowquill art style
  • Innovative turn-based combat pits you against a host of diabolical monsters
  • Classic CRPG and roguelike features, including meaningful permadeath, procedural dungeons, and incredible replay
  • A distinctive game world featuring over a dozen unique playable character classes such as the Plague Doctor, the Highwayman, and even the Leper!
  • Town meta-game – tend to your heroes wounds, both corporeal and cerebral
  • Loot! Gold, jewels, heirlooms, and mystical trinkets. Not to mention upgradable armor, weapons, and consumable supplies.
  • Things That Once Seen Can Never Be Unseen...

I like the sound of it from the pitch, but some kind of demo sure would have made kickstarting this easier.

Will wait for Steam Early Access and re-evaluate then.

Well I'll be damned.
I thought this was going to be yet another "Something Something Dark Souls" Kickstarter.
This looks extremely good.

It's a bit... brown. The idea is interesting, though, and tangentially similar to a game idea I've been toying with.

I love the way this looks and the gameplay concept sounds intriguing. A horror RPG, finally!

Best of luck to you guys.

Love the art and the concept, too bad i'm not into dungeon crawlers.
I might make an exception, it looks so incredibly dark and twisted, almost with a lovecraftian vibe to it.

With all the Soul saga business going on, backing kickstarters are a no-go for me.
Looks potentially interesting, but visually it's not very distinct.

Looks really good i love the art style. Was hero quest a source of inspiration? Anyway kinda disappointed there is no stretch goal for PS4.

Soul Saga is a one man show with a creator that had no references and wanted to go straight for the most difficult challenge you could get. This campaign however seems reasonable and I guess there will also be a lot more income through the Early Access later on.

I hope this succeeds not many fantasy rpgs deal with physiological aspects of venturing into really dark and depressing areas while fighting monstrosities.

I love the art style, the writing and narration are great too.
Not a fan of dungeon crawlers though, but I'm very tempted to try this one out.

Stewart Chatwood is composing? I loved his work on Prince of Persia.

I'm loving everything I've seen so far.
I love roguelikes, really digging the artstyle of this one and the lovecraftian mental sanity mechanics makes me really excited.
Going to back this project hard, and let the world know about it.

I just said I wasn't back any more Kickstarters, too.

What's the word on controller support? I'd like to kick back and play this on my TV.

Great concept, I love it. Backing the dicks off of this.
