Darkest Dungeon | “The Road” of dungeon crawlers, on Kickstarter, GAFfer-made

I rarely promote KS projects except for the ones I'm really enthusiastic about...this is one of them. Chris Bourassa is a great guy and insanely talented artist. I wish you guys could see the full extent of his work from the Propaganda-made Pirates of the Caribbean. They've got my cash and I highly recommend that you give it a look.

No chance for Console port? AM SAD

It is not set in stone. The Kickstarter page mentions this

Red Hook Games said:
We are also very interested in consoles, Linux, SteamOS, tablet, and even 3DS and will make decisions about those versions based upon interest
and opportunity and discussions with platform holders and publishers. But PC/Windows and Mac will be first development priority.

EARLY ACCESS will be available on Steam only.

This is the first game I backed on Kickstarter. Not a lot of ready funds at hand, but really wanted that art book. I went for the $40 tier with the PDF art book.

....
and looking forward to that Steam Workshop integration stretch goal!

Any chance of a console port stretch goal? I don't play on my PC very much. Might back it anyway, though

Edit BPM and controller support is good enough for me! Backing.

Darkest Dungeons looks pretty freakin' awesome. It also reminds me strongly of the pen-and-paper RPG Torchbearer from the Burning Wheel/Mouse Guard folks. Torchbearer was pitched as Basic D&D on hard mode, with a heavy emphasis on the detailed mechanics of dungeon crawling (keeping your equipment in shape, maintaining light sources), adverse effects on the characters (i.e. hungry and thirsty, afraid, and so forth), and a fairly grim setting. This isn't to say there's any direct inspiration going on here, but if you like the idea of Darkest Dungeons and are into tabletop RPGs I'd certainly recommend checking out Torchbearer.

Backed! Like the the art style and interested in what they are trying to incorporate with the affliction system.

Due to overwhelming demand, they just added an EARLY BIRD ROUND 2 – ADVENTURER tier at $44 (deluxe digital edition) so you can save some gold money.

Saw it in RPG Codex, the game looks simply AMAZING. Backed 29$ tier, will upgrade if needed. Also, translation in spanish....just great XD

The return in popularity to dungeon crawlers and similar genres is quite amazing.

The affliction system has me really intrigued, character customization is a fundamental part of RPGs, but not often enough do the personalities of your character have a large impact on the gameplay. Their camping system appears to go in-hand with the afflictions as well.

but, WAIT... I can play as a Leper?! A LEPER! Backed.

I'm surprised RPS and IndieStatik haven't written anything yet. Usually they're pretty fast to write about the big Kickstarters that gain a lot of early support

I am torn.

I don't know what tiers to pledge to.

All of them?

I suggest DIGITAL PATRON if you can live without physical goods ;)
You get to personalize a recruitable hero and design an equippable in-game item (plus all the rewards from the ADVENTURER tier).

I really, really want to do that one, but I also need to purchase real world stuff with money and we're already struggling to find the amount for those things.

We're doing a series of features on DD all this week on gt as well. game looks so dope!
I don't frequent GT that much, mainly for GTTV. So it's nice to see an indie game getting such extensive exposure and attention from a site that, at least from my perspective, mainly covers AAA and mainstream games
