As the resident Darktide player, it looks like everyone's already posted the good stuff from the Skulls event so its up to me to post this.

More info here

Coming June 23rd it appears to be a supporting pet style class, using your cyber mastiff to attack key targets while you deal with the chaff.

They also announced a reworking of Darktides narrative and the starting experience for new players, so that players understand the consequences of the successes or their mission on the wider war effort.

Overall Darktide continues to tick along, slowly improving as more content is drip fed to the community, this is its 3rd year now and is currently 60% off.

How is darktide of late? There's a discount going on, wonder if I should start.
Don't know about the state of the game, but meaty gameplay wise, gunplay and melee are god tier, like on par with the best shooting and first person melee you ever played, and i'm gonna fight everyone who think otherwise.

So this might sound like a weird thing to do, but i would recommend buying it now while its on sale, its certainly worth the price it is now. But start playing it with this new update, as one of the core focusses outside the new class is improving the early game experience for new players.

There's 4 classes so alternatively, you could play 1 now and see the current story (I still think its fun even if its a little light, like Destiny 1) and then start one of the other 3 classes when the update lands (or buy the new arbites and start that)

Yeah, it's an old fps franchise, they even made a porn parody movie about it called hanus where you see masterchief ass.

Darktide is the ONLY GaaS game that has managed to keep my interest, I don't play it religiously but I jump in for a few matches here and there.

The game's biggest problem IMO is the lack of content, there's only, what, 5-6 maps to play and after that you keep playing them over and over again just to lvl grind and find better weapons and that's pretty much it.
Even the "special" assignment (the one with the twins) has been the same for years now ffs.

It looks good, it plays nice but in comparison to Vermintide 2 is seriously lacking in the content department.

Nah mate the shove and melee loop is silly and gets old very quick. Shooting is not very meaty either.

I used to play it religiously, most played game on Steam last year :messenger_grinning_sweat: Haven't really touched it this year tho. The gameplay & graphics are top notch, but the content updates have been miniscule for months now which is a shame. Honestly Fatshark seem to still have Vermintide 2 as their main focus given the new character & PVP update in recent months, kinda crazy to think its took nearly 2 & half years to get this new class added to Darktide.

Loved the Vermintide games, but the replayability wasnt that great. I never felt like there was a ton of loot and progression.

I played this a bit when it was released on GP back then, but it was a buggy mess. Wouldn't mind buying it this time around, but my fear is it is as hollow as Vermintide.

For the melee, i was more talking about the tactile/visual feeling, it's meaty as fuck, mechanically it is pretty simple, but then again, 95% of first person melee combat systems are very basic.

For the shooting, i strongly disagree, unless they completely ruined the game since the last time i played, the shooting was alzo meaty af.

Does people still play verm2 on pc?

Like is it easy to find matches with matchmaking?

mmm As much as I liked the game for the ~100 hours I put into it a new class isn`t enough for me to return. I want all new environments/maps/enemies.
With the rather low player count that amount of add on content is probably not gonna happen though.

Darktide gameplay is so tight, its insane. It coasted on barebone features for an year just on its terrific gameplay alone.
It has been getting constant updates since 6 months now.
