Damn i'm out of morphine and painkillers. Can anyone confirm Soldiers zombies does have a chance to drop them? If not what cities are the hospital located?

Thanks!

Last option for me will be to kill another survivor :( and hope for the best.
Or you could just kill yourself and respawn, or you could ask someone to give you medicine. =P

Any nice loot in Zelenogorsk? I've looted the shop at the south of the city but I only have a sniper rifle with 6 bullets left. I'd like to focus my search on basic survival now.

Are there any tricks for finding someone like this? The map is so incredibly huge, especially at night, how could you ever find someone who did not want to be found, unless they literally stayed in the same building where they killed you 2 hours ago instead of just changing towns (with no way to identify their name on a hardcore server) or logging out?

use a map and listen to side channel chat to get a read on their location. ask other runners to keep an eye out for them. best guess where you think they may have gone based on what you think their skill level is. and of course you need a little luck to bring it all together. it's not easy but it is doable.

you are pretty well boned on hardcore servers.

I just had one of the most meaningful gaming experiences in my entire life. It was a blast, and the cool part is absolutely nothing happened.

I had created a new character yesterday after my first character had been shot in the back of the head by a bandit within ten minutes of spawning. This new character got to outskirts of a town before a bunch of technical issues prevented me from playing. I logged in okay about an hour or two ago to find it pitch dark despite it being one of the Dallas servers. Deciding to persevere, I went forth into the night. it was only then that noticed my hunger and thirst meters flashing. I had to waste one can of beans and both my drinks (didn't even realize I had no drinks left until later.)

The first point of interest was a construction yard a good hundred yards in front of me. I thought I could see a light coming from the inside and decided to investigate. There was no mistaking the flicker of a fire when I got close enough, so I crouched and slowly entered. I expected to be shot or overrun by zombies at any second, but there was only an eerie silence. After determining that I was not in any immediate danger, I decided to put the fire out so as to not attracted any unwanted attention. Big mistake. It was so dark that I couldn't see a thing. I fumbled hopelessly for a few seconds before giving up and lighting the fire again. I was feeling a bit more confident now, so I searched the other floors of the building without much trouble, finding nothing save for a dead body that had nothing of use. When I got to the roof, I surveyed the city before me. It was a partly cloudy night, but I was still able to see enough. Every once and a while I would hear an odd sound in the distance. Glass shattering, a can being kicked, etc. I didn't see any movement though.

I proceeded further into the city. Still not zombie, loot, or people. I entered a small building, a shack really, but it was too dark to see anything. I was beginning to question whether or not I should log out and join a daytime server. There was a large lot with shipping containers in front of me, so I decided to check it out first. Just as I was about to enter the small office on the property, a shot whizzed past my ear! I quickly dropped down and backed into a corner.

Me: Who's shooting?

No answer. I noticed a small crack between the fence and a stack of containers. I tried to fit through, but blast, couldn't make it.

SMS: Who is in [city name]? I won't shoot at you anymore.

I had no idea what city I was in, so I remained cautious. A few moments later a man appeared before me.

Me: Hi.

No answer. But he acted almost as if he couldn't see me. He quickly searched the office before disappearing off into the night. I looked around for him for a few minutes before giving up and continued on.

I rounded a corner where I saw the town center. There were at least five bins with fires spread out through the streets. Still no zombies. I took a few steps before spotting some movement: it was the guy who shot at me.

Me: Hey, SMS. I'm behind you.

He dropped to the ground.

Me: Friendly.

He stood up and walked over to me, still not saying anything. I kept my pistol pointed away from him to prove my intentions. Still nothing. He was starting to freak me out, so I continued walking on. He followed, finally speaking:

SMS: Where to next?

Me: Need water.

SMS: I saw a dead body with water on it about two KMs away.

That seemed like a far ways away, so I ignored it. He was following me like a puppy dog, and it was annoying me. I was still paranoid that he would turn on me, so I decided to ditch him by ducking into an ally while he wasn't looking. It worked, and I was alone again. I was quite proud of myself until I turned a few minutes later and found him still there. You win, puppy.

We made our way into a city where I encountered my first zed. it was in military dress, and puppy proved his worth by taking two quick shots and dropping it. I'm a horrible shot. We investigated further and found a make-shift military camp. Unfortunately all we found were zombies and medical supplies. No guns or water. I stocked up on what I could, and we continued on.

We cleared a small section of zeds down the road, and I found an Alice Pack and a smoke grenade. A little further down the road was a swarm of zombies. I was overrun and broke my leg. Eventually we killed them all though, and I had enough medical supplies to last.

Me: I need blood. I'll drop a bag for you to use.

He picked it up and started the transfusing.

Me: How are you?

SMS: Almost out of ammo.

Me: Me to.

We searched a few more buildings. No guns. No ammo. No food. No drinks.

Groan.

A zombie comes at us.

SMS: One bullet left.

Me: I have two.

Groan.

SMS: Out.

Me: Me too.

Groan groan groan.

Me: 'til the end. Nice playing with you.

I threw my smoke grenade, and a good ten zombies swarm it. A few more come at us and we run like hell.

We stuck together for a while, but eventualy we got split up. I saw him disconect a few minutes after I broke my legs falling off a ladder.

We barely spoke the entire time, but we bonded for life.

So I install OA in the ARMA II directory? Got ARMA 2 on GMG and OA on BISTUDIOS website.

Well, no answer so in the ARMA II folder it goes.

And corrupt install :/

Will re-download once more.

It's actually amazing how vast ARMA II is with all the mods and shit.

Even if you don't play this mod Arm a 2 really should be experienced. One of the best editors in a game and an insane community of helpful people.

I need to find more ak74 ammo its the ultimate bandit weapon. Also I don't like to leave things unfinished can someone post the server they are in when Gabe NeWell makes an appearance. I need to hunt Gabe down.

The viewing audience missed discussion of the tone and perfection of docbon's lower body, dude who muff dived on a menstruating zombie and a few of us not knowing people using global chat were in our party.

Thanks! Hopefully that helps people with some of their initial questions.

I was the blood diver! I don't know if I should be proud of that?!

At least your experience will help me, I won't make the same mistake. Thanks!

Just finished DLing ArmA II. Hurry up OA!!!

This may have been addressed but if I use a different player profile in ARMA can I play an additional character? I'd like to play but don't want to use my main GAF character...

The most terrifying thing is when it says there are hundreds of zombies on the server and you've seen none.

Reminds me of one of the creepiest parts of S.T.A.L.K.E.R - when your NPC detector climbs and climbs but you have no idea where anyone is.

One night on an EU server I saw 1100 or so on the zombie counter while I was sneaking through Cherno looking for supplies before heading north. All I kept finding was dead players and not a single zombie. Occasionally I heard a few gunshots from another part of the city. I managed to go in, get an enfield, a revolver, ammo and a bunch of food and get out without any incidents.

The setup: Your typical zombie survival scenario EXCEPT for the fact that the focus is not on actually killing zombies. Much like The Walking Dead comics, this mod is primarily about human interaction/emotion.

When you start off you have a pistol with a couple mags, some water and a can of beans. You have no map/compass and have no idea where you are. Naturally, food, weapons and other useful items are scarce, so scavenging/hunting/trading is the only way to survive.

I haven't ready any further than this but i am SOLD. Gonna DL this and buy Arma 2 as soon as I get home.

Dammit if only actual game developers weren't scared to try out ideas like this, gaming would be at another level today.

Well, it isn't for everyone. I'd say only maybe 1/20th of gamers would enjoy this at all.

Screw it all, I just bought Combined Ops on Steam and requested a refund for OA with BISTUDIOS since I downloaded OA 3 times and each time I had a corrupt archive or file missing.

Still on the fence myself, but the more I read the closer I coming to buying ARMA to play this mod. Is Vanilla ARMA still pretty active? $30 is a little more than impulse price range for me lol.

I downloaded ARMA2Free yesterday or so, and it's enjoyable but very confusing. There are more types of play and the options are always different - what you see on the map (if anything at all), what you can do etc. I've seen an "RPG" mode where I was a cop, there were civilians too, and I was supposed to arrest bad guys and give tickets to bad drivers or something. Interesting idea, but no explanation whatsoever. The rules were pretty short and assumed that you've played the game for 5 years already, or that was my impression. Other modes are standard fighting but the maps are too big. Eventually, the only mode I liked was "Hold" - plenty of action and I didn't have to walk for half an hour only to get shot by someone I did not even see.

I have no ambient sound while playing the DayZ mob -- no footsteps, no nature sounds, nothing. But I do have UI sound, like when I play around with Options. Any idea why this is? (Yes, I have downloaded and installed everything exactly as specified in the image instructions).

I was sold at the permadeath concept. I know this won't appeal to a WIDE variety of gamers, but they already have a crapton of casual zombie games.

Games should be social and challenging as fuck.

Day 3 of trying to get this to work. It pretty much seems to be isolated to a problem to do with the VPN I use, but if I don't use any VPN (i.e. my uni internet connection) I can't connect at all. Might need to find a VPN that doesn't cause issues (I use OpenVPN)

Fuck it. You sound like the target demographic. Buy it, go balls deep, and never come up for air!

I would like to know this too. I guess I can try and report back, hopefully this doesn't mess anything up :(

Is there a way to turn OFF my visibility to the chat channels? The constant spammy mishmash of new players asking for help, snarky internet-ese wisecracks, and "friendly?" requests is taking me out of the experience.

And Holy Crap @ the influx of new players over the past week. I have been staying far, far away from the coast as a result.

I've been spending more time...near the coast. I make it a personal mission to hunt down dipshits that irritate me in the chat channel. You should do it too! "Minutemen" of DayZ!

What are the chances that CO goes on sale soon considering its surge in popularity thanks to this mod? I feel like the best course of action would be to wait to pick up CO on sale, and by then this mod will have even more of its issues ironed out.

But the temptation is difficult to resist!

Don't wait around, it's possible things can go south. Dive in today and play and enjoy.

Plus you probably won't get a sale anyway.

A friend of mine is getting "error compiling pixelshader PSSSSMSpecularAlpha:1" when trying to launch Operation Arrowhead for the first time. Has anyone had and fixed this error?

How do you tell who is who? Do you play on non-hardcore servers so you can see names?

Keep quitting and relaunching Steam, ARMA II, and Operation Arrowhead a few times until everything settles down. You may have to relaunch Combined Operations a couple times after installing the DayZ mod too, but I think that got rid of random errors for me.

The game is continuing to gain popularity and sell lots of copies at its current price. I rather doubt the company will drop the price since the current price is working fine AND almost all servers are/have been swamped. If there were lots of empty servers and people weren't buying the game then maybe, or maybe if the company felt that they could get more money at a slightly lower price, but Steam sales are mysterious things.

If I decide to play this I will probably want to do so with people from here. How do you tag your profile names for other gaffers to recognize you?

Also, do you require voicechat to play as a group? Most of my gaming is at night (CET) when girlfriend is asleep so I'm not able to speak.

How do you tell who is who? Do you play on non-hardcore servers so you can see names?

Oh. So the profile name probably isn't all that important..

Is say zero chance right bow since its selling a shit ton.

Honestly, I just go anywhere that's open. I'd rather be in the game than waiting for one particular server to free up a spot.

Without names, I just kill depending on their body language. If they don't freak out and run, then they're killers too and must be dealt with. :|
