Liking the idea of Superman as the centerpiece here. He's been the best part of Rebirth, bar none.

But, as I've been going through a DC Comics backlog on Hoopla... Geoff Johns has got to be one of the most underwhelming writers I've encountered. I've never read a thing by him that wasn't forgettable. I don't really have faith in him to do Dr. Manhattan or any other bits of the Watchmen universe justice.

I think it's less likely to be a fakeout than it is that plans for the story simply changed.
