I believe the plan is to have Harley Quinn co-star in Suicide Squad 2 with the rest of the case and yet be spun off into her own films and/or Gotham City Sirens much like they are planning to do with The Flash and Aquaman from Justice League.

Suicide Squad 1 to Suicide Squad 2 has potential to be one of the great sequel improvements. All the elements were there to make something dope and they dropped the ball hard.
Last group of directors rumored were: Mel Gibson (doubtful), Ruben Fleischer (now on Venom), Daniel Espinosa (hopefully not), and Jonathan Levine (could be alright).

I've never seen The Shallows but heard positive things. I'd prefer Mel of course, but this guy could be a good pick. Y'know, I wouldn't be against giving Ayer another crack at it either. I have no idea what happened with SS, but I know he's capable of a way better effort than that.

Gibson would have been really interesting but didn't seem all that likely. This was my second pick out of the rumored frontrunners easily, so I'm glad he's up.
All his movies with Liam Neeson (and the Shallows) are all pretty decent, they seem really suited for TNT cable reruns in the future. I particularly enjoyed Non Stop and Shallows.
i'm also really happy that wasteman Fleischer was taken out of the equation once he signed onto Venom.

Jaume Collet-Serra is an interesting choice if it pans out, I had to go to IMDB to see what he has done so far and was surprised to see some movies I really enjoyed (the shallows,Orphan, Neeson movies).
