No one take the name Mint Berry Crunch till I get home tonight!

I plan to dispense justice through the power of cereal....or duel wielding pistols.

I just saw someone running around in all purple with that exact name.

That is strange as there was a video I saw where he turned it on, and played with his 360 pad.
It will auto detect but you have to have the pad plugged in before you start the game.

How does the game handle tanking/healing/dps mmo holy trinity mechanic?

Pretty much how you expect, theres a tank role, healer role and controller (DPS) role, you can use either 1 of these roles or just a standard character with no specialisation, you unlock your specialisation at level 10.

Skin type can't be modified after character create, but I think you can still modify the color. Costume can be changed via the appearance menu, but you need to collect style pieces (some are quest rewards, some can be bought, some are loot drops, and some are gotten via the collection/investigation sidequest). It'll probably be easier for you to just scrap the character and start from scratch.

This is wrong, you can change you skin type, in the beta there was a doctor woman standing near the star labs in metropolis who will sell you a different skin type, think they cost around $2000 each. I would assume she is still in the main game, shes flanked by 2 robots.

Damn they suckered me into switching to the collectors version. WTf at them putting in a buddy code for pc only in a PS3 box. :lol I might have suckered a friend in with me...might

Plugged it it will detect it in the config setting in the game launcher, but once ingame it does not detect it. Had the same problem in beta, no idea why. Prob some sort of bug with the game due to x64 bit windows again...... urrrg.....

Still Xpadder works for the time being. Little sluggish though =(

Are you using wired or wireless? I am wondering if the wired 360 controller works better, as we've seen with a few other PC games.

Also, damn it, impressions! I know it's a brand new, Day 1 MMO, but I am dying to know if this is any good or not. :lol

I need help already! So I purchased this from D2D, registered my code through the client, trying to set up a 1 month month subscription and it is insisting on trying to charge me for another game client, wtf?

Anyone have any insight as how to fix this? I can't post on the official boards to ask since I am at work and big brother blocked their site.

Its wired, works automatically for every other game I own. The main reason I bought it was because of that. Meh, I am gonna try the latest motionjoy and have my sixaxis emulate a 360 pad. If that works and a real 360 pad does not I am gonna be well confused.....

Are there 'atypical' MMO roles in this game?

Tank
DPS
Heal
etc ?
Yes, every character has two roles. The Damage role is the default role for every character. Around lv 10 you gain a second role depending on your power. IIRC, Nature/sorcery= Healer, Gadgets/Mental= Controller, and Ice/Fire = Tank.

Sucks I'm deploying as I would have loved to check this out. Guess I'll keep my eye on this thread and see how it's doing in 6 months =/

...oh and damn, I want that Bats statue =(

Thank you! Shame you're defined into a role by the power you choose. Would have wanted to be gadgets, but a tank. Suppose it makes sense when you play it. :D

One more question-- is there any way to switch servers (with from one PvE to another PvE or otherwise). There are a bunch of people playing from different places and I'm having a hard time trying to figure out a server to commit to :p

I'm around 20% into the 11GB "download" and my network bandwidth monitor (not the in game one) has not moved at all. It looks like some if not all of the 11GB download is just the disc installation. :D

I'll post my total download when the installation finishes.

Not that I'm aware of. Maybe they'll add that down the line along with a microtransaction for it, but for now you can't switch.

I got to play for an hour this morning, and I thought it showed potential to be fun. Console MMOs are few and far between, but this one looks clean and has some surprising depth to the controls (at least so far). The DC/Jim Lee stuff everywhere is cool too.

Yeah the 11GB "download" was reasonably quick and straight forward. The 2GB download after that is going slow as molasses including a section of yellow bar that I didn't get with the first install

Yep, same here.

Man stealth really is awesome. I unlocked that just before I went in the sewers to help Batwoman, fucking LEGIT. Using gadgets like I'm the goddamn Batman.

Currently about 66% downloaded via Steam & have a new SoE account made up in preparation for when it finishes. I'm a bit worried though, as when I try to Sign In (via the DC Online site), it just reloads the same page (but if I go to create a new account, it'll let me do that), but at the same time, the link to the forums is a bad link. Ah well, as long as I can get my account up & going & in the game, then I'm fine. Otherwise, I might be a bit pissy.

Done with my 11GB PS3 "download". Nothing actually downloaded, everything is installed from the disc. It took around 39 minutes and now the real download is starting (2.2GB's).

Lol, just realised I've been playing on a US server all day instead of EU, would have expected some lag, but didn't get any at all.

Created a character at lunch and got through the intro mission without incident. Like how it instantly read the 360 controller. Movement feels a little sluggish and I wish the target lock would also lock the camera on the target (is there a setting for this?). After a few minutes I got used to it, the combat itself is very satisfying.

Really not sure about this one :( Loved the beta on PS3 but not sure i'd want to pay a subscription for it.

Might have to wait for now and get it in the summer when i'm lacking in things to play.

Big fan of the DC Universe, and I've enjoyed MMO's in the past but I'm currently playing WoW and I don't think I really have room for another MMO. Plus I wasn't included in the beta so I don't know what I'm getting into. And as expected, no reviews yet. So I'll have to keep an eye open. I want to hear impressions.

Only thing I can think of is to make sure it's plugged in prior to starting up the game. I had issues with that. If that's not the problem then no idea.

Noticed on the PS3 list sign ups for the Hero side on The Killing Joke server. I do want to be on the pvp server, but don't like the idea of being on the zerg (usually good) side of things. Anyone planning to be on the Villain side of The Killing Joke?

Waiting on the first ps3 install.. actually moving pretty fast. 8 Min in and almost at 50%. Hoping my fios holds up for the next one. :D

I wouldn't trust MMO reviews anyways, most reviewers don't put enough time in to give a good review, since it can take months to flesh out the entire adventure. I would look for youtube videos of gameplay.

Like others have mentioned and linked in the thread, check out the halitbit's youtube page if you do not know what you are getting into or want a review. He did an awesome and hilarious job at covering the beta.

Dammit, I knew someone would take the Mint Berry Crunch name while I am at work.

So wait, the fighting is like a normal action game? The videos feels like it plays like a 3rd action game.. It's not bs wow combat where you click and it auto attacks for you and etc?

Yup. Nope.

You guys really should check out the op for the link to Halibut's videos... it one of the better commentaries out atm, occasional pompous asinine comments aside.

Yeah it's an action MMO. You can think of the combat like any hack and slash game.

Is the activation code on this good only for one PS3 or could I use this on multiple?

I'd like to put this on mine and a friends so we can play it depending upon where we are.

Ok switching to NA server, just played around on a PvP server and it was all fun and games until the bane quest, massive ganking going on there. Gaf is playing on Zero Hour for PvE right?

Feels like an action game with rpg elements. Moving around the city feels a little like Crackdown, even has checkpoint races. You can unlock combos to increase your damage along with buffs and nukes. Overall the game moves a lot faster than typical mmos (at least the little of this I've played so far).

Yes sir. Looks like a couple of us are on there.

Anyone know what the size of the day 1 patch is for PC? I bought the game and would like to play tonight, but if I have to download 2gbs of stuff then thats not going to happen.

That's actually very good to hear. Thanks.

Now that big question remains. Does it seem worth the monthly price (for several months at a time) so far based on first impressions? Or something one might want to jump in, play for a month, and then leave it alone for a few months and then go back for a month or two?

It ties itself to your PSN account so I think you should be good as long as you use the same account on both systems and don't both log on at the same time.

Someone mentioned that the Direct2Drive coupon still worked today. It'll give you $15 off. And yes it has controller support.

I think the D2D $15 off coupon (wootdc) is still good. You might want to give it a shot before buying it off Steam. PC version has controller support and it actually plays better than M/KB.
